How do I transfer complete iPhoto Events on a MacBook Pro to Aperture Projects on an iMac?

I take the MacBook Pro with me on trips and will download images from cameras to iPhoto, typically on a nightly basis.  I will always delete the clunkers, but will also do some preliminary iPhoto or Aperture editing when time allows.  At the end of the trip, I want to move the trip's 'Event' from iPhoto over to a 'Project' on the iMac.  I hope to avoid either exporting them to .jpgs then importing them onto the iMac (would lose the original version and any post-processing versions) or doing a Migration from Mac to Mac (very time consuming and leaves cleanup to do on the back end).
Are you aware of methods to simply transfer an entire Event and import it as a Project so that I can still have original versions of images and be able to do more sophisticated editing in Aperture on the iMac?
Thanks much.

Install Aperture on the MBP. Then it's a simple process:
Export the Event as an Aperture Library. Copy it to the iMac. Import the Library to the main one there.

  • How do I transfer the iphoto Events from Mac Book Pro to HP?

I try to transfer the 2 iphoto events from my iphoto to a USB ,I don't know why they are not appear as a folder, they came out 50 individual pictures?
Is anybody has this problem before?
May I know how to fix it?

Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events. Then copy that to the other machine.

  • How do i transfer my iphoto events to an external hard drive and have the pictures remain within their original events?

How do i transfer my iphoto events to an external hard drive and have the pictures remain within their original events? Every time i try it splits up all of my pictures one by one. You'd think you'd be able to just drag and drop the event, but no such luck. Help!!

What version of iPhtoo do you have?
To export the photos in an event use the file menu == export command - see the user tip on exporting for the available options
TO use your iPhoto library on an external drive
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

  • How can I move my iPhoto Library from my MacBook Pro to my iMac or hard drive??

How can I move my iPhoto Library from my MacBook Pro to my iMac or to my external hard drive? 'Help' is not helping!!

    To move to another machine:
To move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
To move to an external disk:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • How do I transfer a music file from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone?

How do I transfer a music file from my MacBook Pro to my iPhone?

If you download Adode Reader (free but very limited) or GoodReader (many features) - you can use file sharing.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes. Select the iPad on the left side under Devices. Click on the Apps tab in the iTunes window on the right. Scroll down to the File sharing apps window. Click on the file sharing app that you are using (Adobe Reader or GoodReader in this example). Drag the document from the desktop onto the file sharing window on the right side - or click on the add button in the lower right corner - and navigate to where the file is on the Mac and select it that way.

  • I want to transfer my iPhoto from my old MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Pro. I have a firewire or I could also do it from my TimeCapsule. Would one be a better method than the other?

I want to transfer my iPhoto from my old MacBook Pro to my new MacBook Pro. I have a firewire or I could also do it from my TimeCapsule. Would one be a better method than the other?

    Hi brotherbrown,
A direct FireWire transfer (especially if it's 800 to 800) is going to be the fastest method. TimeCapsule would work, if you connect to it via Ethernet, via wireless it would be quite slow (especially if you have a large library).

  • How do I transfer my iphoto library from my macbook to my imac easily?

How do I easily transfer my entire iphoto library from my macbook to my iMac?  My iMac is not new and I know I should have done this on day 1!  I also want to move my itunes.  If possible I want to avoid moving in on my external.
    Thanks

Details are critical to getting valid advice
The answer to your question is very simple. Connect the two macs together however you wish or use an external hard drive that is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library from to old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac
However your comment about the iMac being old raises the question of a critical detail you left out. Do you have an existing library on your iMac that you want to keep?  If so post back for different instructions

  • How do I transfer my iPhoto library to two separate drives using Aperture

Hi, I'm using iPhoto 9.4.2. My photo library is taking up most of my Macbook Pro's hard drive space so I bought Aperture 3.4.3 after reading the following description:
"As your iPhoto library grows, it may become too big to store on your computer’s hard drive. Aperture lets you set up as many external drives as you want and specify where to store each of your photos."
I want to put most of my photos on an external drive and only the most recent photos on my Mac's hard drive.  I can't figure out exactly how to do this, though.
Hopefully someone can provide simple instructions. Thanks!

"As your iPhoto library grows, it may become too big to store on your computer’s hard drive. Aperture lets you set up as many external drives as you want and specify where to store each of your photos."
This is referring to turning your Aperture/iPhoto library into a referenced library. Aperture lets you relocate the original image files to a folder outside your photolibrary (this folder may be on external drive) and reference the originals in this location. This way the library itself will be smaller, but if you want to edit or export the referenced images, you need to make sure the external drive is mounted.
Relocating original files is simple: Just select the images you want to relocate in the browser and use the command "File > relocate original file(s)". But after relocating you are responsible for protecting the originals. Do not move, renmae, or edit them in any way. Make sure you have a working backup of your library before you start restructering it.
See this part of the manual for more help: Aperture 3 User Manual: Working with Referenced Images
Just in case Aperture should lose the connection to some referenced originals (this can happen sometimes, if the you need to restore your harddrive) use the command "File > Locate referenced files" to reconnect them.

  • How do I transfer my data to my new macbook pro using an external hard drive?

I've already set up my new MacBook Pro is my issue. It asked me if I'd like to "Migrate" my stuff or use an external hard drive etc but at the time I didn't transfer my data from my old MacBook yet. I was going to manually do it later as I had to wait for my External hard drive to back my old Mac up. Now it's that time and I have no idea how to do it. I believe I've researched best of my ability.
I feel like I'm asking a pretty dumb question. If I were to just drag all my programs out like my Adobe Suite on to my new macbook pro would that work? I feel like that's just too easy and incorrect. Please and thank you.

The Adobe suite can be downloaded free, you dont have to copy it at all, under standard CS6 Adobe rules, if you own the suite, you get 2 computers "activated at any one time"  Make sure, if youre not using the older computer, you deactivate the software under the HELP menu in Adobe.
format the new drive in disk utility ......APPLICATIONS.....UTILITIES.....DISK UTILITIES.......select the external drive and format (if its new and empty!!!) under the ERASE button with Mac OSX extended journaled
copy all your important stuff from older computer , pics, files, documents, personal anything.
most of you apps, i ASSUME you bought in the (other than Adobe software, or Office suite, etc etc,..... obviously) in the MAC APP store, so you can reload them on the new computer without copying them , makes things very easy......just open APP STORE, and download what you already bought.
really the only important things , is copy all important work files, documents, pictures, personal ABC...XYZ......  obviously.
the migration is about emails, contacts, etc etc etc, also data, just because you passed it by at the time doesnt mean you still cant do it,    go to the SEARCH at menu at top and type in MIGRATION ASSISTANT  to do it again , since you passed it by at first .
the only thing you NEED / SHOULD copy is all your personal stuff........Applications need to be reinstall from either ONLINE download,.......or from the MAC APP STORE,........  you cant just copy the apps over (in most cases) and toss them onto the new computer
Nahh, there are no dumb questions, just dumb mistakes because you DIDNT ask any questions, and we all make those here and there.

  • How do I transfer CS5.5 from an old macbook pro to a new one via firewire?

My old MacBook Pro fried its graphics card and I need to transfer all of my data across to my new macBook Pro. I have everything backed up on a hard drive but when I try to open it it says that i can't because t is on a Time Machine Back-up. How do I get it to open? Do i need to get a new serial number? Not sure what to do from here.

You need to reinstall on your new MacBook Pro from your original media (if you purchased a DVD), or from the backup you made of the installation files.
You cannot successfully migrate CS5.5 using FireWire. That would not be successful. You can use the same serial number you had before. However, if you used all your two activations, you may have to Adobe to remove its listing of your old Mac so you don't lose one activation.

    thanks

You can use the desktop version of iTunes app to transfer PDF files between your iPad and MacBook Pro.
Please take a look at the following FAQ document.
How to backup and restore PDF documents on your iPad/iPhone using iTunes
Please let us know if you have any questions about the steps that are described in the document.
Alternatively, if you use Acrobat.com (cloud storage), you can upload/save all of your PDF files on Acrobat.com and access them from your new iPad.
