How do I transfer iPod tunes to another computer?

Hello,
I got my bf an iPod for Christmas and while we were at home he installed his iTunes on his parents computer and downloaded a sizeable amount of music.
Since we got back, however, he is unable to access any of that music using my computer, which already had iTunes on it. I got my iPod in May, and his is a brand new 60G video version. He reinstalled the software that came with his, just as he did at home, except all of the songs that he bought there are stuck in the iPod. Whenever he plugs it in, the music on his iPod that he downloaded at home does not show up on his iTunes account on my computer.
What gives? Any suggestions on what he can to to access the songs he already paid for?
Also, we are not on a network or server that shares, such as in a college setting. I don't know if that matters...

Extremely Simple Method:
1 - Open iTunes
2 - Edit=>Preferences=>’Advanced/General’ tab
2a --- ‘Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library’: checked
2b --- ‘Keep iTunes Music folder organized’: checked
2c --- Click OK
3 - Attach your iPod to the PC and hold down the ‘Shift+Ctrl’ keys until the iPod is fully recognized (this will defeat the auto-sync process)
4 - If you get a dialog box to link the Library, decline this option
5 - File=>Add Folder
6 - Browse to and open ‘My Computer’ and select the iPod
7 - Click OK
8 - The music files should start to transfer back into iTunes
No Playlists, or Ratings, Last Played, and Play Count attributes will be preserved
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?

You cannot transfer music from an iPod directly in iTunes, you would have to use a third party application.
As for the message, it's because you have it set to automatically sync whatever's in the library. You'd want to check "Manually manage music and videos" under the Device tab.

First, when you say "Store" you mean the "Store" option on the menu bar not the iTunes Store in the source menu. And if you want to transfer music from computer to computer its harder than just authorising the new computer. You have to transfer the files manually. I do hope you have an external HDD or a FireWire 400 cable (if you have two Macs). Basically copy and paste the iTunes folder (not the iTunes Music folder) onto the external HDD and from the HDD to the other computer. If its a Mac make sure that its in the Music folder. Open iTunes with the option key down and click Choose Library. Navigate to the Music folder and select the iTunes folder.

I have iPhoto '09, version 8.1.2. I have an event in the Library whose photos have all been edited, faces named, keywords added, and place and dated. This will get everything you mention except the Faces data. There is no way to share that on any system.
Note that this information including the dates is written to the IPTC and Exif metadata. So you'll need an app that understands these things as the Finder doesn't - a Photo app for insstance.
There are two kinds of metadata involved when you consider jpeg or other image file.
One is the file data. This is what the Finder shows. This tells you nothing about the contents of the file, just the File itself.
The problem with File metadata is that it can easily change as the file is moved from place to place or exported, e-mailed, uploaded etc.
Photographs have also got both Exif and IPTC metadata. The date and time that your camera snapped the Photograph is recorded in the Exif metadata. Regardless if what the file date says, this is the actual time recorded by the camera.
Photo applications like iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, Picasa, Photoshop etc get their date and time from the Exif metadata.
When you export from iPhoto to the Finder new file is created containing your Photo (and its Exif). The File date is - quite accurately - reported as the date of Export. However, the Photo Date doesn't change.
The problem is that the Finder doesn't work with Exif.
So, your photo has the correct date, and so does the file, but they are different things. To sort on the Photo date you'll need to use a photo app.

I transfered some of my play list to my ipod last weekend. I have most of my music file on a ex HD that crashed this morning. Fortunatly I have most of my music backed up on other HDs (except the play lists) but leave the internal HD on my MacBook Pro mostly free. Now I would like to also use the iPod to hold certain playlist.
Now how can I get the iPod playlist/tunes back on iTunes?
