How do I transfer voice memos from my iPhone to iTunes so it can be viewed offline?

Hello
I am struggling to find a way to transfer and save it on my iTunes (on my iMac) many voice memos (some up to 11 minutes long) and yet I can see the voice memos on iTunes via my plugged in iPhone. But unfortunately cannot find a way to save it on iTunes for offline listening so I can send it by email. (It was deemed too long to send by email from the iPhone anyway so was forced to try and save it on iTunes instead)
Any ideas?
(iPhone 4, iOS 6 and iTunes 11)

1. Connect your iPhone to your computer
2. Click the name of your iPhone under Devices in the left column
3. Click the Music tab
4. Click the checkbox for Include voice memos
5. Sync your device as usual
6. Your files will appear under a new Voice Memos playlist
7. Right-click on a memo for more options about this file or to gain access to the actual audio file.
If you have trouble with iTunes syncing the voice memos add these steps.
- Unplug iPhone from the computer after the failed sync
- In iTunes, select File –> Library –> Organize Library –> Consolidate files
- Plug in the iPhone & sync again. from here
Of course the other thing you can do, is to email the memo files and then open those with your computer and safe them as an audio file. Hope this helps, good luck

In the Sync settings area of iTunes when the phone is connected, you check the Music area, and check off Voice Memos too. I'm not sure right now what the exact verbiage is but it is where you check off what music you want to sync.

  • How do I transfer Voice Memos from my iPhone 5 to my PC?

    Hi!
I recently got an iPhone 5 and I have a bunch of Voice Memos on it already. I already tried syncing the voice memos on iTunes, but when I go and try, it was ask me "Would you like to copy these voice memos to your iTunes library?", I would click 'Yes' and the syncing portion would instantly stop. Any clue as to why this is happening?

    Hi its pretty simple. So
*First download the latest iTunes version and install it on the PC.
*Plug in your Apple Device to your PC
*The iTunes window will automatically pop up when you have connected your device, if it doesnt happen , open iTunes manually.
*Choose Your device and there it would show you the "Summary","Apps", "Music","Movies" etc etc..
*Go to Music and click on the option "Sync Music"
*When you tick that option , the other options would be enabled. They are the "Entire Library", "Selected Playlists...", "include music videos", "include voice memos".
    *Tick only "Include voice memos"
*Now it should start syncing and show you a separate folder saying Voice Memos on the Left side where all your other folders are there on itunes page.
*You can access those audio files by going to the C:_Users*_My Music_iTunes_iTunes media_Voice Memos!!
NOTE: IF THOSE VOICE MEMOS DONT GET TRANSFERRED TO YOUR PC , THEN IN YOUR DEVICE , NAME ALL YOUR VOICE MEMOS AND THEN TRY THE WHOLE PROCESS AGAIN.
NO NEED TO BE DOWNLOADING THE ITUNES AGAIN AND AGAIN.
    Hope this helps You

    Hi King Arthur 2000,
Voice memos can be shared back to a computer in a number of different ways, described in this article -

How do you transfer voice memos from your phone to computer

Is it possible to transfer a voice memo to my computer and then convert that to text that can be printed?
Here is my problem. I study harbor seals and have always taken hand written notes that then must be typed into the computer when I get home from an observation. Is there any way I can dictate what I see to a voice memo and then have that translated to text. If there is which would do it best an iphone or ipad (I have neither, just a tracphone for an emergency).
Perhaps this is asking too much from the technology available but it would be a great help if I could do this.
Thanks for any help you can give!

  • How can I transfer voice memos from my iPhone 4 without syncing and having all music/video/audiobook content deleted from my phone?

I would like to be able to transfer several very long voice memos from my iPhone 4 to my PC.  They are too long to email to myself. I manage music manually, so the phone doesn't sync automatically.  I have also not checked off "include voice memos" in my music sync preferences because of a warning that pops up which suggests that I will lose all the music, video & audiobook content on my phone and that it will be replaced with all iTunes content. (Several of the audiobooks on my phone were transferred in directly from my library system's audiobook service & I will lose them permanently if they are wiped off the phone.) Is there a way around this? I am able to transfer photographs directly to my computer because my PC recognizes the iPhone as an external disk and I was able to locate the photo folder, but I have no idea of where to look for the voice memo folder in order to transfer them in the same manner.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!

  • How do I download voice memos from my iPhone?

I can see that I've downloaded voice memos from the iPhone in the past, but now I can't remember how it is done.
    Need help.
    TIA,

iTunes should automatically sync voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPhone to your computer. This lets you listen to voice memos on your computer and provides a backup if you delete them from iPhone.
Voice memos are synced to the Voice Memos playlist. iTunes creates the playlist if it doesn’t exist. When you sync voice memos to iTunes, they remain in the Voice Memos application until you delete them. If you delete a voice memo on iPhone, it isn’t deleted from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from iTunes, it is deleted from iPhone the next time you sync with iTunes.

  • How can I transfer Voice Memos from my iPhone to my computer?

    Dear Iphone users,
I have a very nice Iphone. I know how to transfer the pictures on my Iphone to my computer but I do not know how to transfer my "audios" (from the "dictaphone" function in French). How can I do that ?
    Thank you very much

You can sync the iTunes Voice Memos playlist to the iPod application on iPhone using the Music pane in iTunes.
Sync the Voice Memos playlist to iPhone:
    1. Connect iPhone to your computer.
    2. In iTunes, select iPhone in the sidebar.
    3. Select the Music tab.
    4. Select the “Include voice memos” checkbox and click Apply.

  • How do I transfer voice memos from my macbook to my iphone?

I had to back up all of my information from my phone to my macbook as I needed to restore my iphone to factory settings and would lose all my information. Now I want my voice memos back on my iphone and I am unable to sync them onto my phone. Not even through a playlist. Icloud says it cannot download that particular playlist. Please help!!!

Your phone connected, iTunes running, under the Music tab, check "Include Voice Memos" and then hit "Apply".  Your synced voice memos will appear in a Voice Memos playlist, which iTunes creates if it doesn't already exist.

  • How do I transfer Voice memos from iPhone to my iMac?

I have recordings made on my iPhone using Voce Memos, since updating to OS10.8 these no longer sync to my iMac when using iTunes.  The help files for iTunes bear no relation to the screens that iTunes produces and there seems no direct way of transfering my files.  Any ideas?

  • How do I sync voice memos from an iphone 4s to my PC?

i plugged in my phone via usb to my computer and then i authorised the computer for the phone
and now, I want to transfer the voice memos from my phone to my computer so that I can listen to it there
however whenever i click sync it says that i've synced the phone with another computer and the only way to sync is to erase everything on my phone which obviously defeats the purpose of me transferring my voice memos to my comp.
how can i change the settings or whatever to get the memos to my computer and allow me to sync without erasing everything?
is there any way without having to download some sketchy app to help me?
i just want to change the settings of my phone to sync with this computer and still have my voice memos.
any help would be greatly appreciated

To follow this user tip using iTunes 11, fist go to View>Show Sidebar.  Also, Transfer Purchases (step 5) is now in File>Devices.
If they're too large to email and you don't want to sync, the only other option is to use 3rd party software to transfer them using usb, such as PhoneView (Mac only) or Touch Copy (PC or Mac).
