How do I turn on long press keyboard to write the same character many times with one keystroke only? I can only write 1 letter at a time with each key press. To write "aaaaa" I need to press 5 times the A key. I didn't use to do this.
I know this has something to do with INSERT key in Windows I guess. But suddenly I was using Mac OS X Lion and a keyboard sign appeared in the top bar, and the keyboard didnt work as it usually does. I mean, I wanted the long press key to write multiple caracters of course. Please help!
It's now a hidden option that can be turned on with a terminal command. The easiest way to do this is to download TinkerTool from this site:

Then go to Tinkertool > General tab > Select "support key repeat".
Logoff and login again.

Tap the screen when playing a song and you should see playback options and tap the repeat until it is white. When it is blue it on repeat and if it has a 1 on it then it is repeating the same song over and over again.

On imac 10.6.8 using current version of Aperture. How can I access the Aperture Library on my external hard drive that I use with time machine for backup? I can only access the application but not the library..
Go into Time Machine (the program not the bundle on the extrnal disk) and using Time Machine's browser go to the Folder where the library lives. You could look in the library bundle in Time Machine but that won't really tell you much,
If you want to make sure it truely has backed up your library you will need to restore it and open the restored library with Aperture.
If all this still has you confused you need to read up on Time Machine in order to get a feel for how it works, for what it is doing and for how to restore files from it. -

There is no way to trace the source of a saved photo.
You might have some luck if you search through the Safari web site history available via the Bookmark icon. -
I am trying to print all the PDF pages in a range of 5 pages but can only print one page at a time . . . It will print the current page only, but not all or pages 1-5. I need to go to the next subsequent page and command to print current page; continuing with this procedure until all pages are printed one at a time. Can this be overcome?
You can use printPages(1, 5), however I need to know how you print current page.

I just backed up my photos by copying my iPhoto Library onto an external drive. Now the Library on my MacBook won't open. I can only open the photos if the external is plugged in. How can I resolve this issue?

The correct steps are
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
My guess is that that you have not switched iphoto to use the external drive yet - opttion launch and select libary

You do not need to do anyhting.
You can sync as many devices as you like. -
"OIM Database Application Connector" is Recon the same user many times!

I am facing an interesting issue that my OIM Database Application Connector is reconning (Creating) the same user many times.
I have created/configured the "OIM DB Application Connector" which should Recon the new user in to OIM when ever new user created in the database via portal. I scheduled the connector every 15 min. The connector is working as expected and creating new OIM user if any new user has created in the DB table.
Issue here is: I have created one user in the table which has reconed to OIM and I can see the entry in design console Recon Manager table. After 15 min when connecotr is run it is picking up the same user. So it is picking the same user every time it runs!!!. It stops picking the user after some time, but dont have exact time when it stop picking the user. But I could see min 25+ times same user and all the time the status is EVENT LINKED. Any idea please why it is happening. My matching criteria is Time Stamp Attribute: "Updated_By_Sysate" & Unique Attribute = "User_ID".

kln1) Yes, you should add in your resource object all fields that are defined in xel_data_source parameters of config.xml file.
2) Correct. You have to create a user defined field in your form designer and map it to a column in your process definition (reconciliation field mapping tab).
3) Reconciliation rule is the rule that OIM use to link Database users and OIM users. You need to create a recon rule using an attribute who has the same value in both systems. Also, you need to define this rule in your config.xml file (see how to configure reconcile tasks in connector documentation). So, this attribute used in your recon rule must be required because it will be used to create or link users. You can define any other fields as required, but if one of these required fields are not filled, you will receive a "Required Data Missing" error in your reconciliation manager event.
4) Reconciliation is used to update OIM with changes made directly in your database table. To update your database table based on OIM changes, you must modify an user attribute in your UD_DBAPP user's form.

how do I copy the same app folder layout from one device to another. We have several apple devices.
It's a challenge when syncing a device for the first time to go through all the apps and apply them back to the same folders as on your other iphone.
I've seen suggestions of taking pictures of the correct layout, then manually applying it to the new device. Big time waister.
What's the work around?
Thank youI'm afraid there is no short workaround. One thing that you could do if you were REALLY desperate is reset your device to factory settings and then restore it from your other device's backup, but that is rather risky and you probably don't want to take your chances just for folder layouts. I would just do it manually.

It works for me.
Just to check you are doing it properly…
1. Select the tracks (i.e. multiple tracks) you want to modify
2. Right click, and select "Get Info"
3. iTunes should say "Are you sure you want to edit information for multiple items?"
4. Answer yes
5. Type the replacement information in the fields you want to change for ALL the tracks you selected, from your example the Artist name. It should automatically 'tick' the tick-box next to that field to show it will change that field for all the selected tracks, any field that has the tick-box ticked will replace the contents for all the selected tracks so make sure you do not tick any fields you do not want to over-write (it makes no sense for example to set the track-name on all the selected tracks to the same name).
6. Finally click the "OK" button and iTunes will make the change(s) to the selected tracks. It might look like it is doing it one at time because it has to (it can only write to one file at a time), let it finish, at least you do not have to type in each track yourself.
I use this all the time to set the "Album Artist" field on an entire album in one go. -
My wife and I each have an Ipad and use only one mail account. Both Ipads therefore get the same mail and when either one of us deleates an email it also deleates on the other Ipad and this can be a problem if one of us doesn't want that e-mail deleted. Obviously our Ipads are synced and I don't know how to correct this. Any advice ?
If you both have the same email account, there's no setting on iPad you can use. When a message is deleted, it's deleted from the mail account server, which will happen on both devices.

How come I can't add a song to my playlists in itunes match? Is it me or itunes match? It keeps on coming up with a message " iCloud playlists can only contain songs from your iCloud music library. If you continue, the playlist will be removed from iCloud and will only be available on this computer"?
You must surely be able to add and subtract songs on specific playlist?I fixed this issue (with help from tech support) and it involved several things.
After adding a song to iTunes, right-click on the song in iTunes and select "Update iTunes Match."
OR go to the iTunes menu-->Store-->Update iTunes Match.
Maybe that's the reason, it just hadn't updated to the cloud.
OR maybe it's not a high-enough bitrate file. This happens to me because most of my tunes are home-recorded.
Sometimes converting to .mp3 or Create AAC version might work. (You do this with a right-click in iTunes, and then you will want to remove the original file from iTunes.)
There is an iTunes Preferences setting, under General Preferences called Import Settings. Try setting it to AAC Encoder and iTunes Plus. That (I think) causes imports to be slightly better quality.

i have an iphone and my 2 children have ipods. all 3 on the same apple id. when one ipod gets a facetime call, all 3 devices ring. how do i prevent all three devices getting the facetime call as it is intended for only one of the ipods?
You can all have independent AppleIDs for iCloud or iMessage etc, but share the same one for iTunes Store / AppStore purchases.

I subscribe to iTunes Match. One day a couple months ago I noticed that my iTunes library was populated by a new collection of songs. Songs I already had and were identified as Matched. All of a sudden, I not only had the"Matched" copy, but also another copy labelled "Purchased." When I went to "View" --> Duplicates, sure enough there was about 180 songs that had been added to duplicates. All 180 were identified as "Purchased" and all were identified as purchased on the same date. That common date was often several years after the date associated with the Matched version. ALL had the SAME purchase date. No one in our house of 4 Mac computers sharing the same Apple Account and having the same iTunes libraries had purchased any songs on that date...7/19/13. All at around 10:30 PM, plus or minus a minute.
Has anyone had this same experience? I tried to remove the "Matched" copy of each song knowing that the "Purchased" copy would not count to my iTunes Match total. But, that didn't work. It appears I am stuck with both copies.
When the recent update to iTunes (v11.0.5) came out, I thought it may address this issue. No go. I still have all these duplicates of the same song. I mean...THE SAME SONG! AT least as far as I can tell by checking all the information associated with each. Same name, same artist, same everything. As far as I can tell, there is nothing that could "fake out" iTunes Match to think these were different versions.

I checked my "purchases" and the 7/19/13 purchases don't show up. However, the earlier versions from usually several years back...the ones that are Matched...often do show up in my Purchases. I suspect that somehow those REALLY purchased several year old versions were deleted and redownloaded by me so I could change them to the 256 kbps versions under iTunes Match. They were probably 128 kbps versions originally when purchased.
Why the earlier versions that were really purchased are now identified as Matched is puzzling.
Why I now have Purchased versions from 7/19/13 is puzzling too...especially since these versions do NOT show up in my purchases.
Calling Apple Support if a good idea unless someone can explain this mystery. I might even take one of my laptops to the Apple store and show a Genius.
