How do I unblock a contact in the desktop version ...
I'm trying to get Skype working on my desktop (Windows 8.1 Pro). I am NOT a Skype user, I've downloaded the Skype desktop version onto my laptop (also a Windows 8.1 Pro machine), and have my daughter trying it from her account. However, I've discovered that somehow, in some way and some point in time, I've blocked her. I've no idea how that happened, when that happened, nor why that happened; but it is that way. So then I tried searching for help on these and other forums. The instructions all say to go into Tools | Options | Privacy | Blocked Contacts. OK, I've done that, and I actually see my daughter's account there, clearly in the Blocked People list box. But then the instructions clearly say that you're to select someone in the list box and then click on the "Unblock this person" button.
That is a lie. 100% false. Never going to happen. The universe will come to an end before this works.
The reason for that is because when I select my daughter's profile in the list box (or anyone else that I have in that list box) the "Unblock this person" button never, ever becomes enabled! And how am I supposed to re-enable anyone if that button just sits there useless?
I did, however find one other uncomplete possibility. From within Skype I selected my daugther's profile, and it informs me that she's blocked. And then it says, "If you want to chat, unblock them fr...", and that's it, folks, as Elmer Fudd would say. No more instructions, no more help, nothing. If clicked on the link and that took me to people.live.com; but what am I supposed to do once I get there? Instructions that say only "unblock them fr" is not at all helpful!
So, I've got only 2 answers that I've been able to find, one by search which is either a lie or is now disabled (for some reason), and another which is an incomplete instruction set. And people wonder why more people don't use Skype? Well, if tasks were accurate and complete, maybe more people would!
So I'm asking you all, how do you unblock a contact that is blocked? What are the correct instructions that actually work?

Any card in your address book can be duplicated. Select the card within the Name column, and use the Edit > Copy menu item followed by the Edit > Paste menu item. Then you can update the card copy and only change the name/email/phone fields as needed.

I think you will find that you have to have a debit/credit card stored on yur account regardless of whether your have iTunes Credit or want to purchase a free App. I don't know why, I assume its for ID verification or is part of the terms and conditions. I occasionally have to re-verify my credit card info even when just trying to run Update on one of my Apps or like I said downloading a free App.

So tell me from where i'll be able to get my contact or contact backup in pcIf your contacts are in iCloud, you can view them from your PC at icloud.com. It depends on how she saved them on iCloud. Check your contacts on icloud.com from your computer. If they are there, all you need to do is go to Settings>iCloud, sign in with your iCloud ID, then turn Contacts to On.
If your contacts aren't on icloud.com, she may have simply backed up your phone to iCloud. If that's the case, you would have to restore the backup to your new phone by going to Settings>General>Reset, tapping Erase All Content and Settings (which will erase the phone), then go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup. -

Time Machine is a back up you have to set up to back up before there is a problem like a hard drive failure.
It is possible to recover files from a failed drive, but it is an expensive proposition.
There is a faint hope that an app like Disk Warrior or TechTool Pro might repair the drive. You could try making an appointment at an Apple store and ask a technician there to take a look... the diagnosis will not cost you.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
