How do i uninstall firefox startup 2.0.0.4

Cannot uninstall firefox setup 2.0.0.4

Are you referring to a file named "Firefox Setup 2.0.0.4.exe"? This file is an older installer for Firefox, and can be simply deleted by right clicking it and choosing Delete.
If it is an entry in Programs and Features, its probably nothing to be too concerned about. You can remove it with CCleaner (http://ccleaner.com/)
However, your Firefox version is out of date and vulnerable to many exploits. Please consider upgrading using Help -> Check for updates.

Quit the application. Drag the icon in the Applications folder into the Trash, then Empty the Trash.
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
        1. AppZapper
        2. AppDelete
        3. Automaton
        4. Hazel
        5. AppCleaner
        6. CleanApp
        7. iTrash
        8. Amnesia

  • Specifically, how do i uninstall Firefox 4? (I want to go back to 3.6.16 ASAP)

I love change, and I love Firefox. That said, I simply cannot stand Firefox 4. I HATE it. It has robbed me of all kinds of flexibility and customization and until that changes, I have absolutely NO INTENTION of using Firefox 4 on any of my Macs.
Bottom line, I would like to revert back to version 3.6.16 and do not want to lose whatever it was that was being used on my Mac when I was running 3.6.16 a mere half an hour ago. Thank gawd I didn't upgrade to FF 4 on my MacPro running Snow Leopard. I'd be really pissed.
So.... on the computer I am using now which is a Macbook Pro running OS 10.5.8. I would be grateful if someone could instruct me as to how, specifically, to UNINSTALL Firefox 4 (prior to my reinstalling FF 3.6.16?
    Thanks in advance,

  • How do I uninstall Firefox update and make my Norton toolbar work again?

Norton has all of my passwords saved in the toolbar, and now I can access any of them! How do I uninstall Firefox 17 and get back to 16 so that my toolbar works again? (I already ran the Norton Live Update and it did not fix the problem.)

I already ran the Norton Live update and restarted with no success. I have Norton Security Suite, not Norton 360. The only way I have been able to make this work in the past is to stay 2 or 3 versions behind on Firefox.

  • Firefox 6 forces you to log into e-mail again & again, since you can't view an e-mail & simply close that tab.. I want to close the tab, not exit the function I am in. How do I uninstall Firefox 6 & go back to the previous version?

With Firefox 6, you can't close the tab you are in and remain in the program; opting to close one e-mail means you are forced to exit the (e-mail) program completely and then go back into it...this is ridiculous if you are trying to read all your e-mails...not have this issue. How do I uninstall Firefox 6 & go back to the previous version?

I am unwilling to attempt navigation away from these sites. The pop-ups that occur on the attempt to leave a site or to close the browser are exit traps offering incentive to stay.
Once upon a time, when the internet was less dangerous, I would be willing to close the exit pop-ups. Now, after twice being infected with malware trying to close the pop-ups, I now force close whichever browser I am using.
Recently, I clicked on the red X to close one pop-up, and it installed a trojan that I had to pay to be removed. When I clicked on 'Leave' in another exit pop, it didn't exit and it turned out I was giving permission to run a script file. Now that criminals have learned these exit pop-ups can be used to force a click action, the sites using them have become dangerous.
If I force the browser to close using Task manager, Please tell me how to stop FireFox from sending me directly back to the same site because it mistakenly believes it crashed when it did not. I forced it to close because I was on a site that had taken control of my browser and was not allowing me to leave the site.
No other browser sends me back to the potentially dangerous sites. I prefer Firefox, but the new version must have a setting that allows me to get safely away from a problem site?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

  • How do I uninstall firefox 4 and get back to firefox 3.6.13?

I installed firefox 4 to play applications in Face Book. It keeps crashing. I never had this problem with firefox 3.6.13. I can't get any help why firefox 4 keeps crashing in the middle of the games, this happens constantly. So now I want to uninstall firefox 4 and reinstall firefox 3.6.13 until I can figure out why firefox 4 keeps crashing all the time. When it crashes, it always says application did not leave a crash dump report or something to that affect. So, if someone could please tell me how to uninstall firefox 4 and reinstall firefox 3.6.13, I would be grateful. But I'd also like to get some answers as to why firefox 4 keeps crashing constantly. I've been at this for over a week now, and can't any answers. The stock questions and replies I read are no help what so ever.
Thanks. I would appreciate if someone would email the answer or reply. [email protected] Every time I look for my questions that I have asked, I can't find them!! So I can't tell if anyone has replied or answered my questions anyway. So, if someone would email I would again appreciate it. Again, my email address is: [email protected] Thanks.
The Box containing "This happened" I put Every time Firefox opened because the ones do not apply. But it doesn't happen everytime firefox opens, just when I'm playing in my games in Face Book, sometimes as soon as I load a game, sometimes in the of the game, and mostly when I visit neighbors.

For uninstalling Firefox 4 see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+Firefox
Make sure you do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data" as that option will delete all of your bookmarks, passwords etc.
You can re-install Firefox 3.6.15 from http://www.mozilla.com though judging by your user agent string you still have 3.6.15 installed.

  • How can I uninstall firefox 4 and return to the version prior?

I would like to uninstall firefox 4 and return to the prior version. how can I do this?

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • Firefox 4 wont even start up now. how do i uninstall firefox 4 and install previous version

want to know how to uninstall firefox 4 and install previous version. also where to get download of previous version

Your problem is caused by the Ask Toolbar which you have installed. There are compatibility issues between Ask and Firefox at the moment.
Please do the following to ensure a clean installation.<br><br>
#Use Internet Explorer to download Firefox 4.0.1 from this link: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0.1] and choose "'''Save'''" when you see the prompt. Then save it to your desktop. ''Do not choose "Run"''.<br><br>
#Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').<br><br>
#Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox<br><br>
#Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.<br>
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.<br>
Next, click the Firefox button and go to Add-ons, then Extensions. Find the Ask Toolbar in there and click "Remove".
If you would still prefer to use the previous secure version, use this download link instead of the one to v4.0.1: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.17] Otherwise the installation procedure and removal of the Ask Toolbar is the same.

  • Firefox versus Safari? And how do I uninstall Firefox?

I've always only used Safari. Firefox has been recommended to me in case I have to reinstall OS X while on the road and unable to update beyond the 10.4.6 of my retail OS X install disk. See:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1897928&tstart=0
I went to this Firefox link to download 3.0.6 for my G4 as well. (No problems, I trust, for me to install it onto our iBook which currently just has Safari.)
Our G4 has on it Firefox 3.03b, a beta version that was downloaded for me by the Apple consultant who updated my computer a year ago.
How do I get rid of this old, beta version to install the new version. Mind you, I never have used Firefox on the G4, but I figured I might as well test it out at home before we hit the road.
I tried to search for uninstall Firefox on the link above (while using Safari) and I kept getting warnings that Safari was slow and couldn't do this (or something like that - I admit, I just baled out of the search and got off the site before I copied down the warning and I don't want to go there again!)
Am I just asking for trouble by installing the newer version of Firefox onto the G4? Should I just uninstall the beta Firefox and stick with Safari?

Yes, use AppDelete to make sure you don't have any left over components of the beta version. The components on the beta version for Mac OS 9 could corrupt your newer Firefox application. The fewer associated files on the drive, the better.
Actually the beta version is for OS X; it never came in contact with my OS 9 which is on a different, separate drive. I wondered if it could possibly have done so on its own - since I recall when I was using only OS 9 and switched from whatever the earlier version had been to Mozilla, it found all the old bookmarks and just picked them up without my even asking it to.
Looks like once you pay for AppDelete you can update it without paying each time? I assume it's as easy as it looks?
Thanks again from the ever cautious,
    Mrs H
    HI Mrs. H,
Always good to be cautious! I hear you loud and clear.
It's as easy as it looks. Reggie Ashworth wrote this application and you can download and use the trial version if you wish. http://reggie.ashworth.googlepages.com/appdelete

Found the solution on YouTube as follows: open "Finder", pull down "Go" menu while holding down "Option" key. This will reveal hidden "Library" file. Open "Library" file and delete hidden files "Firefox" and "Mozilla" that were left behind when Firefox was uninstalled. End of problem!
