How do i update from OS 10.4 to OS 10.5?

Hi,
I'm trying to update my OS from 10.4 to 10.5 but I can't find any software update on the mac website.  Any advice would be much appreciated!

10.4 and 10.5 are both no longer supported by Apple, no security updates.
With a 10.4 era machine, my advice is to stay on 10.4 until the wheels fall off, reinstall 10.4 if you have too from the disk after backing up files off the machine.
Don't bother even upgrading the OS because, 10.6 is going to be ignored this summer when 10.8 is released.
Apple has a terrible history of only supporting the last two OS X versions in circulation.
10.6 is as far as you can go with that 10.4 machine, so why bother spending money for upgrading and software for a machine that's just going to be ignored for security updates again?
Stay on 10.4 and be happy you really got some good life out of that machine, don't use it for online banking etc.
Save your money for a new 10.8 machine coming out after this summer and be prepared for a radical change.
Note: 10.4 is actually less of a malware target than 10.5, very few people on 10.4 still

    Tiger or Leopard?

Go to the Apple menu and select "About This Mac". You will get a window similar to this one -
You current OS X version number will be shown as I've marked.
OS X 10.4.x is Tiger, 10.5.x is Leopard, 10.6.x is Snow Leopard, 10.7.x is Lion, and 10.8.x is Mountain Lion.
Whether or not you can go to the latest OS X version depends upon your hardware -
You will need to purchase the retail set for the OS X version you want; there is no pint in getting and installing any intermediate versions. Once the retail version has been installed, you can update it to the latest release for that version via download updater.

Open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, click on More Info, and check the model identifier against the following, which are the earliest Macs of each type that can run Mountain Lion and newer:
    iMac7,1
    MacBook5,1
    MacBookPro3,1
    MacBookAir2,1
    Macmini3,1
    MacPro3,1
    Xserve3,1
If you choose to upgrade to Mountain Lion, click here; you don't need to do this to install Yosemite. Neither Yosemite nor Mountain Lion support PowerPC software such as Microsoft Office 2004.

Make a cloned backup of your current system should you want to go back or if the upgrade isn't successful.
    Upgrading to Yosemite
Download Yosemite from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Yosemite is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

  • How postings are updated from AR,AP to GL

    Hi,
Can any one please explain me How postings are updated from AR,AP to GL in FI

    Hi,
    AR & AP are subledgers.
While creating a customer, a reconciliation account (G/L Account), e.g 120000 will be attached to him. Prior to this while creating the G/L account (120000), customer will be chosen as the reconciliation account type. This way a link is established between AR/AP and G/L. If the customer does some transaction, the G/L account attached will automatically be updated.
    regards,
    Murali.

Thank you for pointing this out. Might I rephrase that to, go to updates. press and hold on a update. Tap on "hide all updates" and this would clear the existing updates of that person, and blocks all further updates from that user.
Shoutout and credit to hranawat9 for this.

Firstly, 10.5.8 IS Leopard.   I think you mean Snow Leopard, in which case it is becoming increasingly difficult.   Read through the column 'More like this" to your right >>>>>>>    There are various suggestions there.

That doesn't sound right.  The 10.6.8 Combo updater 1.1 is supposed to take any version of 10.6.x and bring it up to 10.6.8.  If it doesn't it's the first time I've heard of an apple combo updater not able to do an update to that updater's version.
Is the 1.1 combo updater I linked to the one you are using or are you attempting to use the incremental 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 1.1 updater?

How do i update from 10.5.2

Assuming you have 1GB or more of memory, you would buy and install OS X 10.6.  It's available from the online Apple store, in the US by calling 800-MY-APPLE, or online here.  After OS X 10.6 installation, run Software Update until there are no more updates available, at which point you'll be at OS X 10.6.8.
If your goal is to install iTunes 10.7, you'll be able to do that at OS X 10.6.8. If your MacBook is late 2008 aluminum or 2009 or newer, you can go to the App store to install OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. Note it requires 2GB of memory, with 4GB recommended.

Daan, you can convert your Lightroom CC trial into a perpetual license install if you decide to buy the perpetual upgrade. There are instructions for doing that here:  Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Help | Serialize Lightroom CC trial to activate as Lightroom 6
William, I see the same thing on B&H. Maybe they aren't selling the upgrades. But you can definitely buy an upgrade from Adobe using the link I posted above.

The option to update without the computer (Over the air) was made available with iOS 5. If your iDevice is using a version of iOS lower than 5, you will need to use iTunes on your syncing computer to perform the upgrade. Use the Apple link below as a guide for the upgrade.

  • HT1338 how do I update from OSX 10.5.8 to current OSX

How do I update from OSX 10.5.8 to the current OSX on my MacBook.  I'm having all kinds of issues becuase I can't update to the newest iTunes and my iPhone4s apps stopped downloading and all the message boards are telllinging me I need to use iExplorer which I don't have because I have an older OS.

Start by checking if you can run Snow Leopard:
Requirements for OS X 10.6 'Snow Leopard'
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
Whilst Apple have withdrawn Snow Leopard from their stores, you can still get it from Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE (if you are in the USA) and they will supply the SL DVD for $20 for a single user, or $30 for a family pack that covers up to 5 Macs.  You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion from the same number (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:
    http://www.apple.com/osx/specs/
If you are outside the US call your national Apple Helpline:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
If you're in the UK, use this number: 0871 508 4400
When you have installed it, run Software Update to download and install the latest updates for Snow Leopard.
To use iCloud you have to upgrade all the way to Mountain Lion:
