I tried powering down and re-starting the iPhone (as suggested at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275). This seems to have cleared the "...not connected to the Internet" problem, and iOS 6.1 is now in the process of downloading.

I have the following situation: I bought a new iPhone 5s on 10th october 2014 with iOS 7.0.4. My old iPhone 4 is running on iOS 7.1.2. Due to the fact that the older iPhone has a newer iOS version than the new iPhone I cannot transfer the old phone's content to the new one via iTunes ("restore from backup").
I could resolve this by updating the iPhone 5s to iOS 8 via iTunes, but I want to stick to iOS 7. Is there a possibility to update my iPhone 5s to iOS 7.1.2? I already tried doing it manually by downloading the ipsw-file and selecting it in iTunes, which ends with an error message that "the firmware file is not compatible".
I'd be glad if any of you could help me with this one.No.

The iPhone 3G will not upgrade past iOS 4.2.1, but the iPhone 3GS is supported up to iOS 6.1.3. Are you sure you have a 3GS and not just a 3G?

Ever since I updated my iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 to IOS 6 all my iMessages are coming to both my iPhone and my IPad. How do I stop the iMessages I send and receive on my phone from receiving on my iPad as well? I have tried going into my settings and making sure I'm only set up to receive iMessages to my cell number and not my email....but that didn't fix the problem.
Here the way to do it, for both, or for only one Go into your settings, Messages and turn on iMessage. It will then send messages that are iMessages to both your iPad and iPhone. You can also turn off this feature on the iPad if you do not want to receive messages on the iPad.
