I have three family phones on one itunes account. When i started using icloud all of our contacts and calander appointments got merged-what is teh correct way to use icloud accross multiple divices for multiple users?

I want to use iCloud too, so.....how do we use iCloud so:
- when we each take photos on our phones they sync to our mac
- our contacts sync (can we set preferences on our individual phones so we only get the contacts we want on our iPhones from a shared address book on the mac)
- we have individual calendars

If you want to share the same photo stream so both your photos sync to your mac via iCloud you'll have to share the same primary iCloud account. Set this up in Settings>iCloud on both phones using the same Apple ID, and in System Preferences>iCloud on your Mac; then turn photo Stream to On. If you want to also using iCloud to sync with your shared Address Book on your Mac, but keep your contacts separate, you'll have to create two contact groups in Address Book on your Mac - one for each of you - and drag copies of the appropriate contacts into each group. Then turn iCloud syncing for Contacts to on on all your devices. To view just your own contacts you'll have to open the Contacts app on each of your phones, tap Groups, then check only your own contact group to view. When you add contacts on either phone, you'll have to add these contacts to the appropriate groups in Address Book on your Mac as you can't manage contact groups on your phone.
If you want to maintain your own calendars, the easiest thing to do is not to syncing your calendar with iCloud. If you did, your calendars would be merged in iCal on your Mac and the merged calendar would appear on both phones.
The important thing to know is that when you share an iCloud account any data you sync with the account will be merged and appear on all devices sharing the account. This will happen with your contacts too, but since you already have a shared Address Book on your Mac, it will stay up to date as you change/add/delete contacts on your phones. And by using contact groups you can filter your view to just your own contacts.

The problem is that you are using application-identity. When you
specify an objectid-class, we treat is automatically as application
identity. To resolve this, I would recommend removing both the
objectid-class and identity-type atributes from your class. With
"objectid-class" in place, we asssume that you wil take care of identity.

To use ClassSequenceFactory must the identity-type of my entities be
application or datastore?
Is the "objectid-class" parameter required in this case?
As you see, all references to the "id" property are commented. Can I
use this property to represent my object id?
If not, how can I identify my object with something like a long?
The last question is related to my architecture: one VM with the EJBs
(entity and session) and another VM with the web classes and JSPs,
connected by a session facade. I don't want to use any Kodo or JDO stuff
in the web tier. Is this possible?

Best practice for setting up iCloud with multiple devices using a single AppleID

Me and my wife have an iPhone each, and are looking at getting both of us using iCloud. The problem is that we only use one Apple ID for our music library.
Is getting a separate Apple ID necessary for each device on iCloud, or can multiple devices have seperate settings/photos/music, etc.?

Using different Apple ID for iCloud is not necessary, but in most cases it is recommended.
You can however choose to use separate Apple IDs for iCloud and continue to use the same Apple ID for iTunes, thereby being able to share all your purchases of music, apps and books.

Removing apps available on iCloud with multiple devices

We have kids with iPad minis using our id. All the free apps apps that they download are available for any of our devices to be downloaded.
Are all these apps using iCloud storage space?
And once the kids have zero interest in these apps, how do we remove them "available to be downloaded" from the iCloud?

It is more of the marketing "itunes in the cloud" thing, then real icloud. What happens is as soon as any device is signed in to itunes store account (in settings), you don't even have to have icloud enabled, but you will see all of your apps and music purchased in itunes available to you for download.
First point to know about that it does not count against your 5 gigs of available storage. Second point, you can't remove them. There was a way to hide them, it still is on computer(in itunes), but with ios 6 it is gone from ipads, or iphones.
Personal advice to avoid the clutter- cut umbilical cord (I just did with my second) - create another itunes account for each one and let them mess with that. There are instructions how to create account without credit cards.

Another point to remember, you are still responsible for your kids, until they are 18 according to itunes Terms Of Service and my humble opinion (lol).

ICloud with multiple devices sharing 1 itunes PC

We have a number of apple devices, some ipod nanos, 3 ipod touches, and an iphone. All share itunes on one PC for music, videos, apps etc.
The ipods and iphone now have the iCloud option from IOS5. I get the general idea of iCloud sharing the info of one user across multiple devices. How does it work the other way, when there are multiple users that may want some parts kept private, such as photos, facebook etc?
Each device has quite a few Gb of backup on the PC, will that alone kill iCloud? There is about 10 to 40Gb on the devices, mostly different apps and music on them.
Should it be viewed as one iCloud account per user? Is that possible from one itunes on the PC?
I dread switching it on and finding my family have now had all their devices merged and ready to do unspeakable things to me (they take angry birds very seriously).

A single account would mean you all shared the same calendars, contacts, Photo Stream and email, but they can all be turned off individually, iTunes and the app store are separate accounts but it sounds as though you already have a single account for those any way, but again you can turn off automatic downloads and have each device sync different music and apps if you wish. It won't affect Facebook in any way.
If you have seperate iCloud accounts you would ideally need different user accounts on the PC.

If your daughter is using the same iCloud account as you, she can enable calendar, mail and contact syncing at anytime and not only see your data, but delete it or modify it too.
iTunes and iCloud are different accounts, you could have separate iCloud accounts but share a iTunes account, which is the account used for apps, music and other purchases.

My problem is that we purchase 3 different devices (iPod, iPhone and iPad1) on different times and activate them with different apple-id´s - niot knowing the problems we get.
Now I buy an iMac and want to organize the data of all 3 devices (which unfortunaly have different purchases of music, books and films) with that new iMac.
What can I do to get the data synchronised with all devices without loosing data? Out of this pool I than want to synchronise only selected items of music and books to the different devices.
Apple says that it is not possible to merge that 3 accounts to one account. Also my try to share the date with home shareing doesn´t work.
Any help out there?

Log out of your Apple ID with iMessage at Settings > Messages > Send & Receive > Apple ID. Select your Apple ID and at the menu window that appears, select Sign Out. Follow this by turning iMessage off.
Turn iMessage back on and try to re-authorize your iPhone with your Apple ID with iMessage which should register your new cell phone number.

How do I use iCloud with Aperture?

I want to synchronize the photos I shoot and load on my MacBook in Aperture to my desktop iMac. I've never used iCloud, but the setup instructions says this should work for Aperture users. The instructions say:
"Open iPhoto or Aperture and click the Photo Stream icon in the left column. Then click Turn On Photo Stream."
Well, there is no Photo Stream icon in the left column or anywhere in my Aperture program. What am I missing? Thanks for any help.

Maria, have you enabled Photo Stream in the System Preferences > iCloud tab and in Aperture's Preferences?
Does your Aperture version support iCloud? You need at least Aperture 3.2.3
