How do I view/print a pdf document in an email? I'm not getting the little hand icon.

How do I view/print a pdf document in an email? I'm not getting the little hand icon.

Ah, yes, I'm using Adobe Reader!  That makes sense.  Thanks so much for your reply.  At the moment, I scan Word documents into my computer and they're automatically converted to PDFs.  If I had Adobe Acrobat on my computer, and scanned in documents, would they open in Reader automatically or could I open them in Acrobat and therefore add password protection?

  • How can I silently print all PDF documents that are opened automatically?

For a special terminal PC I want to print all PDF's that are opened to be printed automatically and without user interaction. The PDF is loaded in an iFrame in the browser, this PDF then needs to be printed.
I don't want to modify the PDF's, the PDF's are supplied by another resource.
I was thinking about using a folder level script that prints each PDF document automatically as soon as it is opened, but I don't know how to accomplish this.

I don't think the installation process will allow that unless the printer is connected.
Incorrect. Win or Mac, you can install a printer driver w/o the printer being connected.
I have tried MS PowerPoint (which can't seem to accept paper wider than 56 inches) and have  used NeoOffice Draw
You're using the wrong tools. PP shouldn't even be in consideration; I don't know about NeoOffice, but I tried its cousin LibreOffice, and it has issues with custom paper sizes; which is not surprising, given what these apps were designed for.
What you need for actual banners (not web page banners) is a vector drawing tool or a DTP app. I'd say Illustrator or InDesign, but Adobe CS is expensive, and, if you're thinking of PowerPoint for this job, you're not ready for it.
You can try Pages; although not quite DTP, it can do the job and it's inexpensive. There are other options, such as Swift Publisher (a DTP app) or Intaglio (a drawing app) -- both are more expensive than Pages, but still affordable; or you can go open source with Scribus (DTP) or InkScape (vector; requires X11). You already know the ups and downs of using open source. (These are just examples; you can find others if you look for them.)
Although it's better to have Kinko's printer driver, to make sure of the correct options, you don't actually need it to print to PDF. You should be able to define a custom page size (eg, 12in × 72in) and create the PDF from it. Any app which uses the Mac OS X standard print function should be able to do it.

  • Unable to view/print some PDF documents

I am unable to view/print some of the technical documents (white papers) in the 91AS documentation page. When I attempt to open them I get the netscape "extend capabilities" dialog, but my local internet support does not have a plug-in/download for the file type multipart-byterange and requested that I contact the site owner for a source for the file. I am using Netscape/Communicator 4.73 and adobe acrobat reader 5.0

  • How to highlight / draw onto a pdf document that is a scanned image, then save the added elements

    Hello
I'd like to add markings / little annotations or highlight as if with a color marker various sections of a scanned image that has been sent to me in pdf format, which I visualize with Adobe Reader 9 on my PC (Windows). I need to save the changes and then send it back by e-mail to the original sender.
So far I've been awkwardlky making copies of my screen (PrintScreen function) of each individual page of the pdf document, then pasting them into PowerPoint slides, then using various PPT drawing and textbox functions to add my stuff to the, now, PPT file, which then I sent back as such. This is very time-consuming and ridiculous and there's got to be another way of adding these changes within Adobe Reader or another similar software, doesn't it?
Again, the pdf docs that I need to work on are scanned images (medical charts), not actual copiable text (pardon my ignorance of the correct terminology to explain this).
    Thank you for your help,
    Falingo

    So the solutions are:
    1. "Buy Acrobat"....which Adobe Acrobat ?....Stanard, Pro, etc (...obviously I'd like the most basic and cheapest...which one is that?)
    or
    2. "Enable doing that in the Reader"....how exactly am I supposed to do that?

  • How is possible to save a pdf document from a email to the memory of my Nokia 520?

I installed Adobe Reader to read the pdf documents present in the memory of my Nokia Lumia 520 and those arrive by email.
Particulary important for is to save, the pdf that arrive by email, in the memory of my phone but I didn't understand how it is possible.
    Someone can help me?
    Thank you
    Mauro

Now it's impossible to save PDF files to memory or SD card because Windows Phone 8 simply doesn't allow this action for 3d party apps.
That's why all available readers can't do it.

  • Printing to PDF after making edits - some users do not see the edits

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.2. Here is the problem I am having. I have a PDF and part of the PDF has hand-written data. I am putting a text box on top of this hand-written data and replacing it with new data. I then re-print this document to PDF. When I look at the new PDF, it looks perfect. When I send this PDF to another user, they see the original hand-written data in the field that is suposed to have a new text box. The user I am sending this to is also using Adobe Acrobat Pro 10.1.2.
This problem does not happen all the time, but it does consistently happen. Please help.

The situation as you describe it is curious and seems inexplicable. The only way I could explain it is if you inadvertantly sent the PDF which you had edited directly, rather than the one which had been printed to PDF. This would be entirely explicable, as Acrobat has an option to decide whether annotations are to be printed.
You can try turning this option on and off yourself to see the effect on the files concerned.

  • How do I tell if a site is secure when I'm ordering a product? I'm not seeing the little lock icon. perhaps that was a Microsoft thing.

I tried a new website where I wanted a garden tool. Then tried Amazon.com and still nothing I recognized to tell me it was "safe" to order.

In Firefox 4 you no longer have the Status bar that showed the padlock in previous Firefox versions.<br />
The padlock only shows that there is a secure connection and doesn't guarantee that you are connected to the right server.<br />
So you might still be connected to the wrong server if you make a typo in the URL and someone has claimed that mistyped URL.<br />
The functionality of the padlock has been replaced by the [[Site Identity Button]] on the left end of the location bar.<br />
    <br />
    See also:
    * http://www.dria.org/wordpress/archives/2008/05/06/635/
You can click the [[Site Identity Button]] on the left end of the location bar to see the padlock if there is a secure connection.<br />
A click on the "More Information" button will show more details about the connection.<br />
The background color of the "Site Identity Button" on the left end of the location bar will change color (blue or green) and show the domain in case of a secure HTTPS connection.
    * Hover the [[Site Identity Button]] then to see "Verified by xxxx"
    * Click the "Site Identity Button" on the left end of the location bar to see the padlock
    * Click the "More Information" button in that pop-up to see additional information about the connection.
You can use this extension to get a padlock on the location bar.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Pages for the iPad and Pages for a Mac are completely different, so you have to purchase them twice, one for the iPad and another one for the Mac. The only advantage is that, if you buy another iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you will be able to install Pages for free on all of them.
As you are running Mac OS X 10.6.8 on the MacBook, you can't purchase Pages from the App Store, so you have to buy iWork '09 on a DVD on Amazon or eBay in order to install it

  • Why can't I import the u3d file as a view onto my pdf document?

After searching the web I finally found the instructions on how to import a 3d view onto a PDF document using Acrobat 7 Pro.
I created the .u3d file and clicked on the TOOLS menu, then ADVANCE EDITING and then 3D Tool. I highlighted an area where I want the 3d view to be and the ADD 3D content window shows up. I then brouse to select my .U3D file and click the OK button. But nothing happens, why? Maybe I need to install more options? Does anyone know?

with what app did you create this file?

  • Printing a PDF document using SMARTFORMS

What is the easiest way to print a PDF document from an ABAP program?  I have the data in the following formats:
    Binary (XSTRING)
    String (from function module HR_KR_XSTRING_TO_STRING)
    OTF
What format can I use in a smartform to print the PDF in the background?
    Thanks in advance.

    Sandipan,
If I use the UTF format, what do I use for the device type?  PDF1?  Also, I have the OTF data in an internal table which has to fields (TDPRINTCOM and TDPRINTPAR).  I pass this table into the smartform function module but what do I do with the 2 fields when I loop through the internal table in the smartform?  Do I just output a text node with TDPRINTPAR and ignoreTDPRINTCOM?

When printing in Excel It is always want to use the acrobat X pro trial, which the trial is expired. I do not want to use acrobat X pro trial anymore. How can I reset it and use simple acrobat to print my PDF document?

    Hi screen name,
Adobe PDF printer gets installed when you install Acrobat 10 Pro.
To use this printer you need to purchase Acrobat. Once the trial period is over you cannot use the printer to create pdf files.
An alternative way for you is to utilize Microsoft's own inbuilt pdf engine.
You can simply open the file and select 'Save as' and in the type list select 'pdf'
