How do you attach NAS to lion

I had an ethernet hard drive on my network and all was good until i replaced my MBP (snow leopard) with a new MBA (lion).  Now i can"t see my external drive.  I can still see it on one of my old Macs.
What do I do?

First thing is to check the the manufactor of the drive to see if it's compatible with Lion. There may be firmware updates you need to install.
You might also check the finder prefs (general tab and sidebar tab) to make sure you have it to show the external drive or connected servers in the sidebar or on the desktop.

This question has been answered before. I suggest you do a search. I think the answer is that you first have to go to an app that allows emailing. I do not thnk you can started with the email, you have to start with what you want to email.

When filling out a job application, how can you attach a reseme that stored in a app like ifiles or PDF expert?

From Safari on iOS (iPad or iPhone) you can't. Teh only files you can upload are image files.
There are some other browser available, such as iCab Mobile, that include document storage and do permit this. No guarantee it would work on every site however (depends on how the upload field is set up).

In Mavericks Mail, how do you attach a PDF (single-page or multi-page) without the PDF being embedded in the message?

I attached a .doc file to the message and it appeared as an icon, so I did not have to convert it. I attached a .jpg image — it appeared as a full image, but when I Command+clicked the image, the view as icon window did not appear on the screen. Likewise, I again checked the Mail Menu Bar, and did see 'View as icon.' Side note: I routinely use Mavericks Mail in Classic Mode, so I decided to try both modes. Same results in both modes. I checked my Mail Preferences, but couldn't find anything there, either. I'll continue to look around, but this has me stumped. Thanks for your assistance.

  • How do you configure spaces in Lion?

OK, I've found most of what I need to configure Lion but I can't find the preference panel to change the 'all spaces' view to the old style (where you see all the spaces or desktops placed on the screen in equal sizes). The new default 'mission control' view isn't as useful to me. I also don't see where to assign apps to a specific space. Finally, how do you get at the 'spaces' option for a hot corner? Where has all this moved?

Obviously it's grown into the mission control feature... I don't care what the terms are now, I just want to know where the controls moved to.
    OK, let's try this:
How do you configure mission control to display spaces in the old tiled format? Or whatever you call spaces/desktops now. For example, the 6 spaces I was using are still there. Apps still open where they were set to (go migration assistant!). Where do you get at the settings for this stuff now?

  • How do you attach photos to email?

This was previously posted by me I will try to be more clear>{ newbe}, when I try to upload a photo to ebay or attach a photo to yahoo email the iphoto app.in finder is not highlighted. How do I attach to email or upload ?

There are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
    3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
To upload to MySpace or any site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. If you're using Gmail you can use THIS
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser. Or, if you want to access the files with iPhoto not running, then create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use THIS
Also, for 10.5 users: If you use the extended Open or Attach dialogue (with Column View) you can scroll to the bottom of the Shortcuts and find the Media browser there. Select any pic you want from there.

  • How do you acquire Facetime on Lion

I have a Pro and an Air and I installed Lion on each but FACETIME was not installed on either machine.
How do I acquire FACETIME on Lion after the fact?
I did find a non OEM site that had it but after the download it tells me I don't have a camera, which I do.. the standard isight and it works in Skype.
I'd also like to know why Lion did not install Facetime for me on either machine.
    Anyone have any info..?

It most certainly is true. It will not download for Lion.
There's no problem accessing the App store you just can't download Facetime. It's for Snow Leopard.
Like I said I get an error telling me my system is too new "Lion" and the download can not be completed.
I talked with Apple Support and they tell me no it won't download for Lion.
Actually to be more specific I copied the EXACT message I get...
"FaceTime can’t be installed on OSX Lion because the version of Mac OS X is too new."

How do I attach speech to text to an object?  I need step by step instructions.

Captivate does not have Speech to Text feature. It has text to speech, which is basically an audio file. You can generate the audio using this feature. The audio that is generated using this feature is in the library. You can drag and drop the audio on any object.

  • How do you attach files in mail only as icons?

When I am attaching files (in particular PDF's or Power Point) to an email message  in Apple mail the file is opened and attached to the end of the message.
How can I attach it only as an icon or convert it to an icon.

I tried your suggestion on "compressing the file' in Finder and it attached the zip file.  The only problem is it created an additional file (zipped) on my drive.

How do you send more than one document from the pages app on an iPad?

This is entirely frustrating and I have yet to find an answer for this question even though people have been asking it on the internet for over a year!
I am relatively new to apple and I was considering staying with them for my next iphone because of my apps, but after paying for this app and discovering I can't email more than one document "page" at a time? This makes no sense. Please fix this apple, I'd like to say you have replaced my tablet PC for home-office work but now I am reconsidering...

  • How do you attach an image, not embed it?

When sending emails with attachments to Windows users, they are unable to open the attachments. Apple Mail does not attach the images, it embeds them.
The only solutions I've found are:
    1) Send the images in an attached zip file. This involves extra steps for both me and the recipients.
    2) send email as plain text, and select "Send Windows Friendly attachment." The problem with this is that I lose all my rich-text formatting.
Both of these solutions are kuges and trade-offs. Is there some way to set Apple Mail to attach images in rich text as the default, rather than embed them?

Yes Profet Daniel, that's the work around I use too. For years and years I can not figure out what those "extra" attachments are that get sent to Windows users.
If I send one (1) PDF file named "file.pdf" but there ends up being two (2) files sent, both named "file.pdf" however, one is significantly smaller in size, and OF COURSE that is the one the Windows user clicks on and can't open.
My other work around, I swear, is to tell them "click on the other one" when they speed-shoot me that email telling me they can't open my MAC file. I then proceed to tell them that EVERYONE has the capability of opening a basic PDF file. Acrobat Reader is free in all new computers. If you don't have it, you should get it.
I still wish I knew what that extra file was and how to stop it from showing up.

  • How do you attach multiple pictures to an email? I use yahoo, presently I copy and paste each pic separately , having to go back and forth from my pics and email. I know there's an easier way. I currently use an iPad 2 and this is my first apple product.

I currently use an iPad 2,how does one go about attaching multiple pictures to a yahoo email? Presently I am having to copy then paste each picture
Separately , going back and forth from my picture roll to my email. I tried to copy and paste multiple pictures but it would only paste the last picture
I copied. I am new to apple, so any help would be appreciated .

If you use the Mail App and configure a Yahoo account you can then select up to 5 pictures from the Photo App and mail them as a single e-mail.
