How do you check Memory Speed on ICD

Hi everyone
I am new to the forums and I am also a soon to be first time mac owner(Receiving my 20" ICD this week) .
I am buying the imac with an extra 1gig DIMM installed, non-apple memory.
Now the reseller assures me that the 3rd party memory that he'll be using is compatible with the imac.
I'm assuming that if there are no issues at start-up then the memory is compatible, but I would like to know how can I check that the memory is running at 667 mhz and that he did not install 533 mhz memory.
So how can I check that the memory is running at 667?

Ah, I think I'm reading that you may be concerned about a potentially counterfeit SO-DIMM. That's one reason to buy direct from a reliable seller such as Apple or Crucial. I'm not sure the memory utility Memtest will verify the DIMM's speed, but it will verify whether or not the SO-DIMM is working properly. That might include a speed calculation, and possibly you can email the Memtest author to find out.

If you had another browser that would allow you to pretend you were a desktop Safari client, ie8 or 9, or Firefox, that might work.

Some strange things have been happening since my MBP (2009, SSD, 8GB, 17") was updated to Lion:
1. Icon images load slower than usual, e.g when opening the applications folder the images take a fraction longer than would be normal
2. If re-naming a folder, you see the new title, then the old one, then it switched back to the new one.
3. When playing HD video, or rapid desktop switching the picture looks split in two.
I checked that my GPU was on dedicated, but it had changed back to Intel integrated? Then a re-start and I checked it was on dedicated GPU, which it was BUT the above problems still remain.
Plugged in a 24" LED Display via display port and it does not come on - only the USB ports work. Does a display need a dedicated GPU to work?
Zapped Parameter Ram, rebuild permissions, and reset SMC all to no avail. Techtools pro 6.0 finds both cards but can't check them. I assume its not Lion compatible yet?
MBP is still under Apple Care, but I want to know if I can identify the problem is the NVIDA GPU. But how?

How do You Make Accurate Speed Changes To Clips?

How do you apply a speed change to an audio clip in with frame accuracy? I have 2 audio clips, one from a camera and the other from a cheap solid-state recorder. The latter has audio drift and needs a one-off, constant adjustment to sync it with the camera audio.
However, FCP only wants to execute clip speed changes down to 1/10th of 1%, which is not small enough. Does anyone know what to do here - either within FCP or Sountrack Pro? Thanks.

I just know that often when capturing long segments of DV tape for our shows, we occasionally get a clip that comes in at 47.998 or 48.002, instead of the solid 48kHz.
When I export to aiff, it seems to clear up any sync drifting we experience with the original clips.
Might give it a go.
STPro is a solid option as others pointed out. I simply suggested a quick fix to a possible sync/drift issue. (quicker than learning a new interface...though that's something that should be done anyway, for the tools STPro offers).

I have just installed a DLink Gigabit router on my network, all the PC are negotiated to 1.0GB connection no problem, but how do i check to see if my macpro has? The network settings are left at automatic, but how do i know what speed the mac has automated too?

Apple menu -> About This Mac -> More Info... -> Network and then select the interface you want to check in the upper pane. The lower pane shows all the info about the interface and at the bottom it shows the MAC address, duplex mode and speed.

You have to go to each app that you want to select and select the app. There is no option to highlight/select multiple apps at once to check the highlighted/selected apps to be checked for transfer to your iPhone. By the time you go though and select each app followed by making another selection to check each app, you would already have each app checked.

Using PL/SQL Block how do you check if the character string value is aA-zZ

I have a pl/sql block that I prompt the user for password and I load the string into an array and interrogate each index(entry) to see if it is "aA-zZ".

I have a piece of detached audio. Video Frame rate is 23.98. The piece of Video above it is Video Frame Rate 24.

Nope, the Automatic Speed did not work. I exported the XML, and then ran it through X2Pro to try and get my AAF, and it still spits out conform warnings/errors on those same spots. Automatic Speed apparently did nothing helpful to my situation. (Can Anyone explain Automatic Speed?)

Curious to see what FCPX would do with this media, importing the 24p file to a 25 Project cause a noticeable shift in both time and pitch.
I imported the time coded audio separately, and played it against the obviously speed and pitched changed video with embedded audio. The files did not sync.
The audio remained in time and pitch, while the video didn't. So the audio tc doesn't seem to effect playback in FCPX, but video definitely does, and it seems rather buggy.
So, if your video is 24.0 and your audio is 23.98 and you are in a 23.98 timeline, FCPX might be changing the speed of the video without really reporting it. Resetting speed doesn't do anything, hitting "automatic speed" screws it up a bit more (it goes the wrong way). Changing the speed to something like 96% (FCPX reports 96% but I know it's really ((24000/1001)/25) which is just short of 96%. Turning off the "preserve pitch" checkbox actually pitched the audio back to normal.
I didn't create the 24.0 vs 23.9 media that you have, but perhaps you are having similar issues, or a different combination/permutation therein.
But to answer your question, the time coded audio was not changed, only embedded audio.

But here some notes which makes things hopefully clearer.
Resampling and changing playback speed are two totally different things.
Samplerate for audio is the same as fps for video (not dpi for video) so let's call it sps.
You can record audio at any sampling rate. But let's take 48 kHz and 32 kHz here.
Record 60 seconds. Once recorded both files as stand alone files will play 60 seconds.
But forced to play back in a NLE timeline with a fixed sps of 48 the first file will playback correctly. The second one will play at 2/3 of the time (32/48). The other way round the 48 sps file will play longer in a 32 sps timeline.
Now for those poor guys who have to work with NTSC:
A real world second is not a second in NTSC video world. Its 1001/1000 seconds.
So selecting a 48k sps audio preset in a timeline preset means that a real world audio of 60 seconds is only 1000/1001x60. That means that those 60 seconds are only 59.94 seconds long. Its too short.
One way - if you stay strictly in NTSC - is to record audio with 48048 Hz. This way a real world 1 second audio will match a 1 second NTSC video.
Next option with BWAVE files is to change the playback settings in the BEXT header of the file. This won't resample the file!!!
Now about the TC. BWAVE doesn't have a TC in a way you're used when handling video. It has a timestamp in the header. This timestamp contains the Samples after Midnight. Based on that the NLE will convert this to TC which can be displayed. So in NTSC world this might give a wrong interpretation.
For example if you have a "Start TC" of 00:10:00:00 (thats what you see on your audio recorder) it means that using 48kHz the timestamp is at 600x48,000 = 28,800,000 samples. Since the real sampling rate in the timeline though is 48048 Hz you have to divide the source stamp by this number. This results in 9.99000999000999 minutes. So for a 23.976 fps project this is a TC of 00:09:59:10.
So setting the Bext header and/or iXML chunk to the correct playback speed will keep everything intact. Again this is without resampling!
Using an AIFF there aren't these options.
So you can edit all the stuff without resampling when using BWAVE. But resampling will happen when you export a final movie.

How do you know what speed discs to use?

I experienced a problem backing up my iTunes library and found out it might be due to the DVDs that I was using. I have a G4 iMac running 10.3.9. It has a superdrive but I am not sure how to figure out what speed disc to use. Can anyone help? My 16X DVD-Rs aren't working and apparently 16X isn't what I should be using.
Finally, if 16X aren't right where do I get slower ones? Pretty much all I have seen are 16X.

If you are carefull and read the packaging, you will see that some will read that they will burn at 1X-2X-4X-8X or 16X.
One that comes to mind is the Maxell 16X DVD-R
Remember that not all media DVD's offer this feature, so take your time and read the package.

When I threw my PC out of the window and bought my first mac some years ago I thought this could relax my nerves but I still have some really annoying problems.
Of course I check every bounced file to find clicks etc. But I often have to deal with long projects like live recordings and musicals. So listening to the whole bounced file takes an hour or more.
Its like the following: I will send the mastered CD to my clients and they will tell me if they want anything to be changed.
After doing the modification I have to bounce the whole project again (in logic) - listen to the entire bounced project again (that takes one hour) and afterwards burn it with waveburner. After that procedure I must listen to the burned CD again to check if there is any mistake ore click (which also takes one hour) before I can send it to duplication.
Is there a way to check the CD automatically? Or is there a software that is really stable and burnes CDs that work 100% ? I mean - when the logic project is fine - is there a way to bounce and burn a CD without listenings to it and not running the risk to get an action for damages because your computer did not record your CD like it should?
How do you manage that?

If this is for small run demo replication and you're only using Waveburner, then there's no shortcutting your method. No audio CD you burn in your computer is 100% error free. You have to listen to that physical CD. That's still no guarantee, just a warmer fuzzy feeling when it sounds OK.
For preparing an actual premaster for replication, then Sonic Studio Soundblade allows you to listen to the rendered DDP file set. This essentially cuts out that last step of creating a CD and listening to it, but I usually do anyway, just for so, and to doublecheck any special features, etc. But you don't really "have" to. I always include a checksum with my filesets anyway and ask the replicator to verify it after moving it from my DVD to their hard drive.
Never had a problem. Yet. Fingers crossed.

In my view upgrade quality can be decided on two factors
1.) Performance of new instance
2.) Is there any issue with Data ( Check for all tests and reports)
