how do you cut and paste on an imac

If you're talking about cut and paste as you would do with files and folder on a Windows box you do it in a round about way.
Either Copy ⌘C, (Yes copy not cut), and then move, ⌘⌥V (a variation on paste ⌘V).
    If you're a mouser.
Right click the File and choose Copy from.....
The right click the folder you want to move it to but hold down the option key and Paste item.....
...will change to Move item here.

    * Select: use cursor keys and shift, or drag over with the mouse
    * Copy: ctrl+c, or right-click|Copy

It doesn't make sense to cut; you wouldn't want to damage email messages, surely?

  • How do you cut and paste text from Adobe Reader 11 into Word?

Using Windows 8.1.  Recently purchased Adobe Reader 11.  Need to cut and paste text from PDF into Word docs.  Docs are not locked and content should be available for editing.  Have figured out how to highlight the text through the Comment tools, but nothing (right-clicking, going to Edit pulldown) menu gives me a Copy option.  How do I cut and paste the text?

Good to know that I got what I paid for with the Export PDF.I just went
into the document that I am trying to cut and paste from and highlighted a
piece of text.  Clicked right, checked the Edit pulldown, and then did
Ctrl+C (assuming you meant Ctrl and then C, rather than holding them both
down together).  Still no Copy option anywhere.
Properties for the document I am trying to work with do say "Content
Copying: Allowed" under Security. Since I can highlight text, I assumed
that the text is there (not a photo scan) so that I can copy it.  Should I
look somewhere else under properties to confirm this?
As I did last night, I also opened up a document that I have cut and pasted
extensively from before-so I know the text is there and manipulable.
Attempted to cut and paste from it, using the same methods above.  Again,
no option to copy with any of them.
Perhaps I should clarify that by cut-and-paste, I do mean that I want to
copy the text from the original and then transfer it to a Word doc that I
am writing.  I am not trying to do anything with the original other than
copy from it--not cutting anything out of the document itself.
Is there a way to do this with the Adobe 11 reader.  At this point, I am
wondering if I need to uninstall Adobe 11 and try to go back to Adobe 10 or
whatever the reader was that was installed on my computer when I bought it
(Dell Inspiron touch-screen laptop purchased in May 2013, if that gives any
idea of which reader might have been installed there.  That version did,
however, have some other limitations that made me want to get Adobe 11. Any
ideas about what to do now.

That's a hardware question what would be best answered in the forum for the system version you're using, either Mac OS X v10.7 Lion, Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard or Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard.

  • How do you cut and paste sections of a slideshow?

    Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to cut and paste sections of a slideshow. I have a slideshow with about 6 songs. I would like to rearrange the songs and the pictures that are synced up with them. I have only been able to select the whole project. I would assume this is possible I just can not figure it out. Thanks!

See this [video Tutorial|http://www.apple.com/findouthow/movies/imovie08.html#backgroundaudio ] for how to rearrange the songs.
You can cut or copy and paste multiple slides. Hold the command key down as you left click additional slides to cut or copy.

  • How do you cut and paste files from a Macbook?

I am trying to cut (edit, select all, cut) and paste from a Macbook Pro, but when I try to paste into an external hard-drive, the paste function is greyed-out.  Command V doesn't even do anything.  How can I complete this simple task?  Thank you.

The hard drive is probably not Mac-writeable - likely it's NTFS (Windows) format.
If it's empty, you can reformat it to Mac format using Disk Utility.
If it has files that you need and/or you don't want to reformat, you can try Paragon NTFS to allow you to write to the drive.

  • How do you cut and paste tables in and out of Excel from either Mail.app or Outlook 2011?

When I try to cut and paste a table generated in Excel for Mac into the body of an email the formatting holds but when I send the table is reduced to one column. Same is true for copying from incoming mail into Excel, when I paste into Excel it is reduced to one column rather than keeping the table format. I have tried using mail.app and went out and Outlook 2011 and both programs have the same issue. The reformatting also happens when I forward an email received from a coworker that contains a table, not just on cut and paste operations.
I need to do this regularly and right now my only option is using my old PC where the cut and paste function keeps formatting between Excel and Outlook just fine. Attaching a pdf or excel file is not an option. There has to be a way to maintain the formatting and being able to extract the tables keeping them intact. Please let me know if you have a solution to maintain this formatting within email programs. Thank you in advance.

Selecting all does not help - the issue is I need a table within an incoming email to be moved to excel, edited and then pasted back into a new email. "Select All" picks up the email headers, signatures, any messages around the table etc so that doesn't work. Also, as pointed out above Excel doesn't have a select all feature to get the tables back into the body of an email.
I just tried again going from Excel into Outlook 2011. No luck. All one column down the left side of the email. All columns are removed and text crammed into one column. Just to check I cut from one Excel document and pasted into another and it retained all formating just fine. It is only in and out of Outlook that seems to be the issue.

  • How do you cut and paste

Does anybody know how to cut, copy, and then paste text ? Maybe they want us to practice our typing all of the time ??

Have you found work arounds for the lack of
cut/copy/paste or did you not use it that much?
I haven't had much need for it yet but it has been less than 24 hours.
    How is the EDGE speed?
    Not too bad.
Can't believe you talked me into waiting and then you
    got one. 4 or 8?
I had every intention to wait for the 2nd generation (honestly) but Mr. Jobs gradually kept pulling me in - heck I've got to blame it on someone. ;~)
I also had a birthday recently (6/20) and my Mom sent cash instead of purchasing me a gift so I decided to go for it.
I got the 8GB and it really is a fantastic device IMO. Makes my Razr 3xx seem like an antiqated device.

If your using File>Place then photoshop cs2 creates what's known as Smart Objects, which photoshop 7 didn't have.
In photoshop cs2 you can rasterize the smart objects and that should make the Cut function available.
Select both placed layers, right click on the area to the right of the tumbnail and select Rasterize Layers.
If in photoshop cs2 you to Help>Photoshop Help and look under Layers>Smart Objects, that should give you a good overview of what smart objects are.

You can find the correct spelling in the Apple dictionary.  Just add the correct spelling & delete the error.
