How do you delete photo albums that have been syned to your iPhone when you don't know how they got there anyway?

Somehow when I synced my iPhone last week, it added albums of photos from I guess previous syncs and now I have all theses albums on my phone I do not want on my phone. I have tried to figure out how to delete them but can't. And it is taking up a lot of space. How do I get them off my phone and make sure they don't sync on there again?

I didn't have that selected before because it never did it before but for some reason it has become checked. I have unchecked it and, lo and behold, after syncing twice, they are gone from mu phone!!! You totally rock!! thank you so much!

Tap the Photos icon in the Dock at the bottom of of the screen.
If you don't see the photos there, tap Settings > iCloud
Turn Photo Stream off then back on then restart your iPad.
Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off. After it is off, press the power button to turn it back on

I have downloaded every update and my battery life is better than any previous iPhone I have ever owned. I see posts from hundreds of people every day, and this is not a commonly reported problem. Unfortunately once all the 3 iCloud accounts have been created on your mobile device, you cannot create any more regardless of what you do. You will need to re-use one of the accounts that you have already created or create your new account on another device or computer.

Actually, I neglected to say that I was working in a Thai font and, after posting my question, it dawned on me that I should check the keyboard template again. Well, in Thai, vowel and accent symbols show on the template with the dotted zeroes below as place setters, They don't show IF one doesn't make a typing error, which is what I did. Any one device can create only three iCloud accounts: this is tied to the hardware, not the user account, and there is no way round this.
You will have to create an iCloud account on another iOS device or Mac, then you can sign into it on your iPhone.

I am trying to delete a photo album that I do not need anymore from an iPad 4. But the album has been synced from a computer that I don't have access to anymore. Is there anyway around this ?

Photos that were synced from a computer can only be deleted by connecting to a computer's iTunes and changing the sync selection on the device's Photos tab.
Is that the only album that was synced from that computer (and you now sync the iPad to a different computer ?), or do you have other albums from it that you want to keep on the iPad ? If you want to keep one or more albums on it then they will need to be on the computer that you sync to so that they can be selected on the Photos tab and re-copied to the iPad from that computer. If you want to remove all synced photos then try selecting and syncing just an empty folder

Where is the photo tab on itunes? My device is not listed on the left side of my screen and there is no photos tab on the right of my screen. I want to delete photo albums that were synced through itunes to my ipad 3.

I synced several photo albums to my iPad 3 from my computer through iTunes. Now, I would like to remove them and have discovered that they cannot be removed except through using iTunes. Instructions that I've read say that once the device is connected to and selected from the list in iTunes, select the Photo Tab and then the folder that contains the photos etc. I never get that far because I do not have a Photo Tab to select in iTunes. How do I find this illusive tab so that I can delete these albums that are merely duplications of other pictures and are just occupying space. I need to get rid of them. Can anyone help me find the photo tab. I cannot move past that step until I do. Also, my device is not listed on the left side as stated in the instructions. It's in the bar on the upper right area of my screen and is automatically selected when connected. I am using the current version 11.1 for iTunes and IOS 7 on my iPad 3, if that helps.

I have the same problem on the latest iTunes software and Windows 7. My window is maximzed and I do not see any tab for photos. Seems related to a recent update (IOS7?) as this was there - at least before the very big change to the interface.

You are not getting the same screen as you used to sync them to your iPad ? e.g. if you select the iPad on the left-hand sidebar of your Mac's iTunes (option-command-S enables the sidebar) then on the right-hand side of the screen the last tab should be Photos :
If the tab isn't showing then is your iTunes screen wide enough for the tabs to fit ?
To delete all synced photos try selecting an empty folder on that tab and sync that.

HT4650 In Finder, Desktop, it shows a zillion photos ...jpgs.. all greyed out. I have no idea how they got there and they have been a nuisance since I cannot seem to get them off. Tried dragging them to the trash, didn't help.

If I try to empty trash, 'some of the items you are moving are in use by another application. etc.." and now, another, Copy "Preparing to undo "move to Trash".

Try an All Images Search:
In the Finder:
Command - f
Kind: Images
Size: Greater than 300kb (This is to avoid all the thumbnails, icons and so on.)
Set it to search the Mac.
As to why? The most likely answer is user error, I'm afriad. It does point up the importantce of always having a back up.

How to delete original photo's that have been retouched?

For Ex: I'll have 8 similar picture's of my ferret's that I have retouched in order to look better--but how do I delete the original 7 that I don't need anymore? And this goes for practically my entire library--I have about 1000 photos with about 8000 similar duplicates--that I don't need.
How do I get rid of these . . . and I've tried iPhoto Diet--and (I might be using it wrong or something but) it doesn't delete more than 3 or 4 photos after about 30 mins. and like I stated above I need to get rid of about 7000 more photos.
I've tried going thru each and everyone deciding if it was the better "retouched" photo but it takes light years to go thru my entire library.
Any easier way?

Ok, let's try:
In the finder sidebar, you should have the different Music, Applications, Pictures Icons. In Pictures there should be one folder called iPhoto Library.
I set up a Smart Folder (in Finder > File > New Smart Folder), searching for the term 'original' within my Pictures folder.
This folder should show you all the Originals folders within the iPhoto Library.
Clicking on List View (Apple-2), you can sort your Originals folders (well, at least the search results) by Date, if you know you edited some pictures today or yesterday, or by size, finding the most edited pics from one day.
Clicking on each of these Originals folders will reveal the original, unedited pics (which you probably wanna throw in the bin, if you don't need them), as well as the MPG movies which some digital cameras can make. So be careful with throwing away the whole folders before checking the contents.
If I really want to keep an original shot, say if I do some major colour change in Photoshop for example, then I usually duplicate the photo within iPhoto. This way I can edit one, and still keep the second, both visible within iPhoto, without having to worry were the 'invisible' Original is.

I've tried googling the answer but I guess my issue is a little too specific.
When I bought my I-phone the lady became impatient with me and instead of moving my photos for me she had me download a transfer app to move over my contacts and photo albums from my Android phone. I thought I woudl want to cherish all of these photos but, surprise surprise, I do not. Not only are these old albums ineditable by any means (including deletion), but they also take up a lot of space and do not pop up when I plug my phone into my computer. Only the photos taken by the I-phone appear and are removable (to my knowledge)
So, how do I get teh little buggers off?

Photos that you have taken on the phone are in the Camera Roll. The Camera Roll is managed differently. You need to also import photos from the Camera Roll to the computer for safe keeping, but doing as I said about syncing an empty folder will not affect your Camera Roll. If you restore however, it will delete your Camera Roll. You would need to import those photos to the computer for safe keeping, as a restore will delete everything from the device.
