  • How do you determine what version of  the Darwin Kernel, iOS 4.3.3 uses in iPod Touch?

I tried looking this up in "Settings" > "General" > "About" but it doesn't give me this information.
Someone told me that he has Darwin Kernel 11.0.0 for his iPod Touch running iOS 4.3.3, but his iPod Touch is jailbroken. My iPod Touch isn't jailbroken, and I want to know what version of Darwin Kernel it is running. On Wikipedia, someone documented that the Darwin Kernel 11 begins with iOS 5--for a jailbroken iOS 5 device. I find this odd if my buddy has Darwin Kernel 11.0.0 for his device running iOS 4.3.3. Well, as all intelligent people know, we can't trust Wikipedia completely.

Why do apple refer to the products by generation and then not actually include that information on the product?
    beats me.
you can inform Apple of your displeasure by leaving a comment via iPod Touch Feedback.

  • How do you determine what shows are in free video on demand?

How do you determine what to include in the free on-demand shows?  The Mentalist was always there before but is no longer.  This is especially important for shows like the Mentalist and The Good Wife which come on Sunday nights after sports events.  Even if I set my DVR to record 60 minutes over it doesn't always catch the entire episode.  Would also like to see Person of Interest  there.   And last but not least, you should have a way for people to access netflix or other services from your service.

If you go to BROWSE then the FREE folder you will find that everything in there is free viewing. If you go elsewhere and try to watch a paid show, you will get a prompt asking you to purchase. It also shows the amount of the movie before purchase.

  • HT1918 how do you determine what devices are set up under homesharing

Does anyone know how you determine what devices are set up under homesharing?  I am not finding a list of devices under my account.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
There are no lists, you'll need to check each device.

  • How do you determine what size tablet to get (storage wise)?

I looking to get a table (either the IPad or the Asus Transformer Primer.  I'm thinking of using it mostly for travel and would like to use it for internet connections, email and downloading & watching movies & music.  How can I figure out how much storage (16gb, 32gb, or 64gb) I'm going to need?
    Thanks!

I determined what size of tablet I got (storage wise) based on two things: 1) Price and 2) Whether or not I could easily expand the storage.
For starters, you are going to get the most bang for your buck from the Prime. The 32GB Prime costs the same as a 16GB iPad. So right there you have twice the storage for the same price.
If you happen to fill up the 32GB of internal storage (which is not that hard since you pan on loading the thing up with movies and music) you can simply get a 32GB micro sd card for 40$ and double your space (this is not even an option with the iPad). Also, you could add even more space via the SD card slot or the USB port on the keyboard dock.
With the iPad, once you fill the thing up, you are done. From that point on you have to manually move music and movies off the device in order to add new stuff. I used to have to do this with my old iPod touch and it was quite a tedious and annoying thing to have to do. Of course I only had 8GB to work with back then.

  • How do you determine what your iPhone 3GS is locked to?

I have an iPhone 3gs and I don't want to unlock it or jailbreak it.  How do I figure how which carrier it is locked to?  I know it's locked to a Canadian cell phone company and I tried Fido, Telus, Bell and Rogers (all friends SIMs) without hooking up to iTunes because it gave me the ability to activiate wirelessly through WiFi.  But none of these SIM cards worked.
Any ideas of how I can figure out what it's locked to or how I can activiate it without having to try every SIM card under the sun?

No offence to you Julian - but if I could go back to the original retailer / seller and ask them the question, I wouldn't be posting it here .
I bought the phone from someone who had it software unlocked / jailbroken a long time ago and I just updated the phone.  I don't want to unlock it or jailbreak it, I just want to know how to activate it with the original carrier.
I just need to figure out if there is a way to determine who that carrier is...

  • How do you determine what the default filename is when you do a SaveAs?

I have a shcedule that I saved and now I want to save it as a .pdf file, so I go into File, SaveAs and select .pdf in the drop down and the default filename is "document" not what the name of my schedule was.  Where is that set?  How
do I make it default to the name of the MS Project Filename?
    Thanks,
    Casey

    Hi Casey,
Which version, SP and CU do you have? Trying with Project 2010 SP1, the original file name is kept whatever extension selected in the "save as" dialog box.
    Hope this helps,

  • How can you determine what imports to use

In the examples in the UIX Developers guide, a number of pieces of Java code are given but without the necessary import statements. When I copy them into JDeveloper and try and compile, a number of compilation errors are given becuase some of the classes can not be found. I presume I need some import statements in the Java code. How can I find out where the class is located to know what import statement to use ?
eg...MyClass.handleStoreNameEvent - cannot find class StateManager; cannot find class MutableState
    Thanks
    Brent

    Brent -
I'm not sure whether this is the most convenient solution, but I usually look up classes in the JavaDoc reference to find their packages. In JDev 9.0.3, you can find the JavaDoc documentation for the UIX classes in the help system under the Reference -> UIX Reference. Click on the "FRAMES" link to see a list of all classes - and from there you should be able to find the JavaDoc for each class, which includes the package name.

    <?php phpinfo() ?>
I answered it myself. Maybe it can help someone else.

  • How do I determine what alert causes a notification sound?

So I'm sitting here at my computer, and with some frequency. the alert sound plays. But there are no new e-mail messages in my mailbox, no new Facebook notifications, I didn't type something, it just happens. Is there any way I can find out what happened to trigger the alert sound?

    Hey acmwallace,
You can see notifications you have recently received by going into the Notifications area. The upper right corner of your menu bar is where to go to look at these. See this article -

  • How do I determine what is causing Screen pixilating and jumping on my G5

I have an IMAC-G5 that is now causing problems. Screen is pixilating, vibrating and freezing. Any ideas on repairs?

I advise you take it to the apple store, often things like this are no easy fix and can be caused by many things, faulty wiring, dust, overheating, simple parts malfunctioning. I am no expert but I recommend that you use a vacuum to check for dust, if it does not run on SSD but HDD make sure the fans all work and keep it elevated you can also look for obvious problems.

  • How do I determine what URL to use when launching to display a RH10 .htm page?

    Hello,
We are implementing RoboHelp 10 for our online documentation and are sourcing it from Framemaker 11. I am trying to determine exactly what URL information the developers need to build for the launch to the specific IBM System i screen. Is anyone launching RoboHelp from a backend ERP system? If so, how did you determine what level to use when building the URL for that page?  Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

It depends on whether you just want to open the help at the default topic or open context sensitive topics.
Both methods are described in Calling Help on my site and there is more good information at http://www.wvanweelden.eu

  • How can you tell what version of Quicktime you have?

How do you determine what version of Quicktime you have on your computer? What version do you need for a new 30G Video iPod? How do you upgrade versions, if necessary?
Thanks in advance for any help.
iPod mini for windows   Windows XP

Open a QT document and use the Help menu, where you should see an item labeled (I believe) About Quicktime Player. That should tell you the version running the player.
You need QT Pro and QT 7 to have a preset for iPod video. You probably can use QT 6 if you use these settings in making an mpeg-4 video:
"MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480x480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats<<
QT 7 is available for download from the Apple site by clicking on
"Quicktime" in the Purple banner above

  • How do you determine resolution for a given print size in LR?

CS3 displays image resolution for a given size. How do you determine what that resolution is in LR for a given print size, so you know whether you should upsize or downsize for optimum print resolution range?

The only way I know of is to work it out. LR and PS make assumptions that are often not ideal (although the differences may not be noticable). Different printers like different resolutions per inch. For example, I once had an Olympus Dye Sub printer that produced awful prints unless the file was exactly 314 ppi. Not 300, 314. 300ppi looked awful. 314 looked amazing. Many Canon inkjets prefer 300ppi files and most of the better Epson's prefer 360ppi. Lambda printer like 400ppi files.
So find out what the printer likes, and in LR enter that number into the printer dialog. I believe the LR engine interpolates the file based on this and the image size on paper you choose to produce a file of the best size.
Having said all that with most modern domestic and prosumer inkjets the difference is pretty negligable.
