How do you fix an iPod that is disabled and says connect to iTunes?

Does anyone know what I can do, becasue I have been debating about going to the Apple Store in my local mall, but just have not found time. I want a quick and simple way to reset it.

Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and “ Restore “...
If necessary Place the Device into Recovery mode.

i cant restore my ipod because its desabled and it says connect to itunes. also itunes is asking me to put in a pasword but i cant and my home button does not work

If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
Next use the method discussed in the following for placing the iPod in Recovery mode without buttons

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

    Hello Irenemikayla
You would need to put your iPhone into recovery-mode by restarting your iPhone and then holding the Home button until you see a Connect to iTunes logo and then you should see that you will be able to restore in iTunes.

how do you unlock an Ipod that is disabled?

If the iPod is showing the 'disabled' screen due to too many failed passcode attempts then you will need to connect the iPod to the computer that you normally sync to and you should then be able to reset the iPod and re-sync your content to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212) - you may need to put the iPod into recovery mode : http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If you do it via a different computer then :
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
