How do you get two computers on same network for mirgration.

I am trying to migrate from an older iMac G5 running the most updated version of TIGER to our new MacBook Air running LION.
The air doesn't have a firewire connection, so it's trying to do it over the wireless network. I have them both on the same network, BUT the new Air is asking for me to update the Migration Assistant on the older machine. Don't have any idea how to do that.
Is there a work around?
Can I use USB connections?

You need to install 10.5.8 on the PPC computer to work with Migration Assistant. It would be easier to clone the drive to an external hard drive. Then restore from the external hard drive using Migration Assistant.

Having a credit card when you set up as Family Organizer is a legal requirement to prove that you are taking financial responsibility for the others on the account. As Gail noted, there is not a way around that.
Once the account is set up, the Family Organizer can remove the credit card and replace it by a debit card.

How do you get maximum jpg quality/smallest size for photographers

I would love to get any input from another photographer (or
anyone else). About specific tips for maximum jpg quality in my 20
page pdf portfolio. What file pixel dimensions do you use? What
quality levels in photoshop "save fer web" before importing into
illusrator for type and coversion to pdf. Or do you do it all in
photoshop. Color spaces? Noise reduction? file format before import
into illustrator.
All these and anything else you care to pass on. Failing
that, any recommendations on where to find a tutorial that
addresses same?

David is right, this is really a topic for the other forums.
However, I can offer some basic advice from my experience as a
photographer, blogger and person who uses Acrobat.com and other
sites to post photos.
The first important point is that the monitor resolution is
typically 72 dpi. If you are saving to show as a JPG in a web page,
for example (not embedded in a PDF), setting the dpi larger than
this is problematic - the image will just appear larger. If you are
embedding in a PDF for printing, the image should match the dpi of
the document - usually 300 dpi, although it varies, else the
program (Acrobat, for example) will have to scale the photo in a
way you can't necessarily control.
When I am exporting files from Photoshop (or, more
frequently, Lightroom), I usually set the resolution to 72 dpi and
then use 100x the size of the print. For example, a photo with an
aspect ratio of 4x5 will be 400x500 pixels. I've found that this
creates an image (some panoramics excepted) that tends to 'fit' in
most monitors and is large enough to contain good detail.
Color space: Adobe1998. I believe that PDF will attempt to
either render the image in its current color space, or translate
it, but Adobe1998 is pretty ubiquitous and has worked for me
(unless you need CMYK or something else specific).
The larger issue is that the JPG compression is dependent on
the nature of the photograph. Some photos are fine at 60%, some
halo miserably. So you'd have to do it manually for each to be
absolutely sure. However, most of the time I export at 60%
compression, 72dpi and I'm OK. But I am usually not producing a
saleable print or a portfolio piece that has to look perfect. I
just want it to look as good as possible on a computer screen while
still being able to automate. TIFF avoids all that, but there's no
compression and the image is huge, as you know.
Since you are producing a PDF, you could try a side-by-side
test. Do it once with TIFFs at 300 dpi and once with 80% JPGs. This
test will exercise whether the rescaled PDF (with 300dpi) renders
as well as a 72dpi PDF with JPGs on your screen.
The final advice I'd give is to examine how small a file you
really want. With Acrobat.com's Share application, giving people
access to a large PDF is no longer a problem - you don't have to
email it, which is where it typically gets blocked due to file
size. To be sure, 20 TIFFs taken with a decent camera (8MP+) is
going to create an unduly large file, but the same images as 80%
JPGs will probably get you what you need. If won't be a small PDF,
but it won't be 50MB either.
As you are also probably aware, many of the social networking
sites that have photo applications automatically rescale photos or
do other side-processing to ease the load. Clearly, that doesn't
work for a professional photographer.
Hope this helps, I'll subscribe to the topic if follow up is
needed. But as has been mentioned, the forums for the other
products are probably the place where you'll get more detailed
advice than I can provide.

Trying to get 2 computers on same network into a single game server

I can't seem to get 2 comps on my network in the same server on quake, I dunno if this has anything to do with IP or anything, but I was wondering if ther might be anything I can do to allow us both to play on the same server, I have a WRT54G Wireless G broadband router. How do you get two apple ID's to share iCloud, photo stream?

We both have iphone's with iCloud, and two macbooks with iCloud, and want to be able to share the photostream, sync each of our calanders on both computers?

Yes. You can sync multipl iDevices on the same computer using the same Apple ID. You can each have different configurations of apps, books, music, etc. or have identical configurations. In this way, however, your common data - contacts, mail, calendar will be the same on both iDevices.
The Apple ID doesn't distinguish one phone from another, only how the phone will sync to a computer. The Apple ID is how iTunes knows to which computer a phone syncs. And, the Apple ID determines who is the registered owner of downloaded and purchased items via iTunes.

How Do You Connect Two Computers?

Real simple question. I'm certain it has a simple answer.
I have two Macs, both Intel Macs, both running Leopard. One is a MacBook Pro, the other is an office-based iMac. I would like to access the office machine with my book over the internet.
How do I do that?

It is a simple solution, but you need to do a lot of homework to decide whether it is an appropriate solution.
1) set up the target mac with a static internal IP.
2) set up your router to forward port 5900 to your Mac's internal IP address.
3) get a static external IP from your provider or sign up for a free DynDNS (or equivalent) account
or, if your IP address doesn't change often, just deal with the occasional 'outage' due to not knowing the current IP address.
4) Turn on Screen Sharing on the target Mac
5) Connect to Server... vnc://business.external.IP.address
Is someone going to hunt down your computer and try to hack into it? I don't know. But, if it is a business, I would think it is a more lucrative target, and there are also a lot more privacy concerns that you need to consider.
While you are looking into things, setting up a Virtual Private Network (VPN) may be an option.
Another consideration is the type of service you have purchased from your internet provider. Unless you are paying for the service, running any type of server over that IP address may violate the terms of service. I haven't looked into whether connecting back to your computer is a violation of the 'no server' rules. Generally, they are concerned about the bandwidth of a Web Server or an FTP server.

We have over 50 ABAP developer (senior experts). Primarily we develop in the old core module (SD, MM, FI, CO, HR, PP, CS, IH, PS) on ERP systems / business suite.
We have three groups of developer:
Group 1: They can’t await to work on new architectures – they’re open for all and have fun to work as a pioneer and dig in the deep of the system
Group 2: For this developer it’s all the same – for this people it’s not a problem to go to a other architectures
Group 3: They have no interest
to work in new architectures
to spend time to learn new things
they are very closed for new things
they have for all topics bad statements
I am part of the group 1. In my opinion in the IT it’s normal to spend much time at new topics in free time to keep up to date. New topics / innovative things make the developer job very exciting. For me it’s regular process – and that’s my own passion .
Since two month we have our own HANA system in our data centre as play field :-) (business suite on SAP HANA). I’ve some colleagues who made the HANA certification – and we made the first steps in our system. For group 1 and group 2 everything is okay and they’ve fun .
We have problems with the group 3. They find every hair in the soup – they spend very much time to search arguments against HANA. That’s our “negative group” . We copied our SAP System to a new system and made a technical migration. Now they compare the SAP System, which is based on an oracle datebase, with the new SAP System which is based on a HANA System. They go through the standard ERP process (offer / order / purchase order / goods movements / delivery / MM invoice / SD invoice / material master data / customer master data / vendor master data / conditions / financial bookings / etc.). They main argument is, that they can’t see a grow up of the performance / the added value of the invest / etc. Our other problem is that the group of this people have experience over 20 years in ABAP developing – and their opinion have a high weight. The other arguments: IBM and oracle are working on similar architectures – and we can hold on on the open sqlsyntax / on the present coding.

As you mentioned in your email, you already have HANA System to play with. So I would suggest looking at high performance transactions like MRP run and FICO Month-end Close.

SAP has few use cases. Take-up these use cases build data models and use in ERP.

Recently in our organization we replaced database from DB2 with HANA. Now our SAP ECC is running on HANA. Straight away we have seen 30% of performance improvement in all the transactions. SAP is providing optimized SAP Transactions and there is significant performance improvement and SAP Road Map clearly talks about providing more optimized SAP Transactions on top of HANA to its customers.
We tried to push some of our high performance code to DB layer by creating the Data Models and using those views in SAP ABAP Programs or Transactions. This gave us significant performance improvement.

How do you get them to take a network problem seriously?

I have a couple of websites that I need for work. For some reason They stopped working with Verizon phones, 3G and 4G, at least in my area around the 28th of march. They work if you make a wifi connection and with other carriers. When I finally got to a human she couldn't go off script and kept telling me that I needed to reboot the phone. The only way that was going to work was if I hung up and rebooted and then went through their voice jail system again. So I went to a franchisee and had them deal with it. the only advantage they had was a number to get straight to a real person and they were on another phone so they could go through the rebooting sham. They gave me a trouble ticket number >(Ticket number deleted)< and the problem is still unresolved. Although it did briefly work yesterday.
I can't find any place on their site to check the status of this trouble ticket and haven't heard from them since. How do I check the status of the ticket and light a fire under them.
It would be nice if people from around the country could check one of the sites; fsmstamps.com just so I could know if it is my area or everywhere.

How do you get faux italics in photoshop CS4 for Mac

I have some text that I need to make faux italics, but since macs do not have a right click, I do not know how to do so. I have searched every menu and cannot find it. Any help is appreciated.

Mac do have a right-click provided you have a two or three button mouse , have had since the begining of OSX. It brings up a Context menu. You can emulate a Right click on a one button mouse, by holding down Control/Alt key then clicking Mouse.
