How do you keep embedded documents during conversion from Word 2007 to PDF?

Windows 7, with all available patches.
Word 2007, with all available patches.
Acrobat reader 9.3.2
I have additional documents, spreadsheets etc embedded into a Microsoft Office Word document. When this document is converted to the PDF (using the Word PDF add-in interface) the embedded objects can no longer be opened and only appear as images. 
Is there a way to retain the embedded document during the conversion so that they can be opened from within the resulting PDF?

I don't have Acrobat X installed at this time so am not able to create or edit PDFs (other than from Word).  I understand that creating a PDF from Word may not be an Acobat issue per se, but thought that someone on this forum may have experienced a similar problem, hence thought I'd try my luck here

    Good Day, I have checked several forums and the help file, but I can't seem to get a straight answer on this issue. 
    Our office creates many documents in Microsoft Word 2007 that contain both typed text AND images.  For example, I have a document with a summary section and then a .jpg of an event from Facebook.  We usually Print the document using Adobe PDF and the resulting PDF is searchable with the Find tool.  The problem is that the images contain text and we want that to be searchable as well.  I found posts saying to take the PDF and Print it again as an image and then run the Recognize Text tool.  I have tried this and it does indeed work, although the resulting PDF is grainy looking (even at 600 dpi).
    What I would like to know is if there is a way to get the images to be searchable during the conversion from Word to PDF. I could educate my co-workers on how to do this and save the trouble of having to touch each document more than once. Also, I do not like the graininess of the image nor the extra steps involved to convert each document.  It will require a lot more hands on maintenance than I have time for.
    Any assistance or clues you can provide on this topic would be appreciated.  Thank you in advance, Paula C.

    Is there a monthly subscription service to Acrobat XI PRO so that I could convert a Word document with
    text, graphs, and photos into PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-3?  None of the subscription services that I saw expressly
    state the type of conversion except to say its to PDF.  Why is this so hard for sales and Customer Service
    to figure this out?

    Use only formatting that is supported (in the same manner) in both applications. You'll need to find which that is through trial and error. Beyond those formatting options, you'll need to do some corrections, as Fruhulda suggests.

    I am running XP and using Word 2010.  I have a document that contains embedded Word documents.  I can convert the document to PDF but I loose the embedded documents when I do.  Is there a way to keep them available in the PDF version?  I can "attach" them, but don't know how to make those attachments obvious to a reader.
    Any help you can give would be appreciated.

    Something embedded in a Word file isn't going to migrate to PDF with the Word file's "page content".
    If the embedded files are support use Acrobat to convert them to PDF.
    Combine the PDFs.
    Configure this PDF to open with the Bookmarks showing.
    (Document Properties > Initial View)
    Edit / add Bookmarks as desired.

  • How do you keep a 23.98 file from switching to 29.97

    I have exported an mpeg-2 file from compressor using the 23.98 setting, and am trying to maintain the 23.98 frame rate in dvd studio pro- when exporting out of compressor as m-peg 2. You are supposed to be able to send it as 23.98 to dvd studio, and dvd players are able to decode it from 23.98 to 29.97- so you (the dvd author) get faster encode times, and more data storage and higher data rates-- I am having trouble somewhere between compressor and DVD studio pro: getting it into dvd studio as 23.98- it just keeps auto converting it and registers in the video asset window at 29.97 in dvd studio, after I have set it to export from compressor at 23.98. I am not sure if this is a compressor problem or dvd studio...

    Film-based movies have a native frame rate of 24fps, and because the mpeg-2 format is able to represent 24fps video internally, many commercial movie DVDs are encoded in this way.
    Compressor can also do this for 24p source video files. For such material, the 23.98 frame rate option (in the Video Format tab) compresses each source frame one-for-one, without compressing repeated frames or fields in order to achieve a 29.97 fps display rate. This results in higher quality at a lower compressed bit rate than would be possible if the 24p material were converted to 29.97fps prior to transcoding. Compressor also sets internal MPEG-2 frame flags correctly, so DVD players will properly apply the 3:2 pull-down process for display on 29.97fps interlaced NTSC TV sets

    I have always appreciated hometheaterhifi.com and the way they explain things. Based on their good articles, I was able to put together a killer home theater for a reasonable price. So thanks for the link. I have an understanding on what they are explaining, however, my question has to do with comparing my results with professional outputs.
    When I choose what format I want my DVD to be made in, I choose progressive scan and remove any trace of interlace options. So there should be no need for 29.97 anywhere. Even the DVDSP manual says I have a choice between 23.98 and 29.97 display in NTSC. (ie DVD Studio Pro User Manual > Preparing Assets > Preparing Video Sources)
    I would look at a professional movie on my progressive scan DVD player (or my iMac DVD player), wait for a good slow pan, then pause. Clicking one frame at a time, I see the following frame progression...
    1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, etc
    My original video footage will do the same thing. A smooth pan with all frames lining up properly. However, post DVDSP, I get the following results on my progressive scan DVD creation...
    1,2,3,4,4,5,6,7,8,8,9,10, etc This is what the articles calls "judder".
    Now, if DVDSP is indeed a PRO application, I should be able to get the same results as the professionals do with their DVDs, correct? Why can't I get a 24fps output like they can with their movies? Why am I forced to accept a duplication of every 4th or 5th frame that jutters up my smooth pans?
    The manual says that if your asset is 23.98, it will be rendered as such on output, but this is not the case. My M2V files will not import at all into DVDSP, and my original footage gets converted to 29.97. So therein lies my angst.
    Mind you, I am not trying to be provocative. My way of getting to know all sides of an issue is to come at it in a debate-style way. I truly want to know and hope to create as professional a product out of DVDSP as I possibly can.

    I am having problems when trying to print a document from the web on my mac.  It is having weird breaks at the end of the page.  I do i bump lines down to the next page or  adjust the font size to fit more on one page?

    You can try saving as a PDF first before printing.
    You can edit the PDF say in PDFpen.

    Where have you saved the document, or are you talking about a template?
    You do not delete any documents inside Pages. You must locate them in Finder (probably in the Documents folder) and then drag them to the Trash.
    If you need basic help with using a Mac, Apple has helpful videos and tips in their Support section of their website.

    The link you provided is for the HTML fillable form. Is that what you are trying to download?
    FormsCentral form files are stored on the FormsCentral servers. If you are the author or a co-author of the form you can access it from any machine by logging into FormsCentral. If you aren't the author or a co-author of the form you will need to contact the author and have them share the form with your FormsCentral account.     For documentation I use onenote which is synced to my owncloud server so i can use it when ever needed. I also use a mix of wundlerlist and spiceworks to keep track of all my to do items and issues and requests. My number one recommendation is find the best way that works for you documenting and make sure to stick to it. Writing or typing it down will make sure that you retain what you did that day!

    InDesign's PDF export engine does not transcode your videos, they are embedded exactly as they were in the original file. The Flash Player runtime which displays video inside PDF files may not show a perfect match to Quicktime etc. because most video playback tools aren't designed for a color-calibrated workflow, but they should be close.
    The playback quality (blocking and aliasing) will be affected if the clip is not playing at 100% (screen pixels != video pixels) and in PDFs with the standard video player widget, that will only ever happen when you use 'floating window' mode. PDF pages have physical dimensions, so viewing them at "100%" does not make them match screen pixels.
    If you don't mind the video clip being smaller than the media annotation in which it's playing, then use my free upgrade to the Acrobat playback widget - VideoPlayerX - which maintains 1:1 pixel scale until the page is zoomed out too far for it to fit. You can install the widget into InDesign so it's used by default when exporting.

    2.  The user starts the VI and the VI sends the set points to an external process via a serial interface.
    3.  The VI  stops running.
    4   The user waits for the external process to complete.
    5.  Repeat sequence. Go to Step 1.
    This works well except for one small problem.  Starting the VI in step 2 causes an external micro controller to reset.  During the reset it will ignore set point commands.  To get around this problem a delay has been added between when the VI opens the serial port and when the VI sends the set points to the external process   Is it possible to keep a VI running continuously in this type of application, thereby eliminating the start up and shut down of the serial interface?
    If yes, how do you keep a VI running while waiting for user input?

    The ones for the event structure specifically. I'm posting from my phone. Look at the basic ones for user input. even a simple while loop with a boolean and a case statement would work.

Right now, when I'm trying to highlight documents to export, I have to click on each document individually. Is there a way to highlight one document while scrolling down the list until all desired documents are highlighted? I would like to rapidly be able to do this to save time when I am exporting or saving multiple files from my documents to an external drive, CD-Rom or cloud storage.

    The first time an iPhone is connected to iTunes that is used to sync with another iPhone or iOS device, you are prompted to transfer the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device or to set up the iPhone as a new iPhone.
    The former does as provided - it transfers the backup for the other iPhone or iOS device to the iPhone replacing all data on the iPhone that is included with the backup being transferred. The latter does nothing allowing you to make your various selections for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
    This is designed to be done right away with a new iPhone.
    If you don't have a backup for the iPhone with iTunes on your computer and don't have an iCloud backup that hasn't been updated since choosing to transfer the backup for your iPod Touch to the iPhone, the data that was on the iPhone is gone.
