How do you know the best iMac display size

how do you know the best iMac display size
Only on them fits in the screen window and that makes the font so tiny.  The others are too wide or too tall.  I usually view at 150 - 200% for vision issues.

You say it's better to do the Media Browser?  I'm fairly new to movie, dvd and garage band.  How would I go about using the Media Browser instead of straight to iDVD?
Select Your project - go up to Share - Share to Media Browser and as Large (Not HD)
In iDVD select a nice theme - click on Media button - click on Movie - Select Your movie.
NOW - Save as a DiskImage - and test this before burning DVDs - if this Plays OK then either burn the Image by using Disk Util tool (and set down burn-speed to x4) - or burn via iDVD (will take more time)
I want to keep as much quality as I can.
Then don't use iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 - as they all discard every second line resulting in less quality on the DVD. I use iMovie HD6 or FinalCut any version.
Also...I tried to split my project in iMovie...but couldn't find a way.  I wound up just making a copy and then deleting out a handful of scenes from the copy...I still have the original at 4:12hrs.  Is there a way in iMovie to split a project?
I would make a copy and cut away a bit from the end - calling this Part 1 and from start of the other copy Part 2.
OR - there are other programs that can squees in more to a DVD e.g. Roxio Toast™ - BUT this has two cons.
• It costs - to me it was well spent mony as it can so much more e.g. back engineer a DVD to an editable form
• Squeesing in more on a DVD - costs in QUALITY - and as You want as much as it can be - then 90 minuts portions encoded with Pro-Quality encoding and full quality interlasced material from a video-editor that delivers this is the way to get 100% of what DVDs can do.
DVD is as standard only SD-Video - HD not possibly. Then You need Blu-Ray. (also Roxio Toast™)

  • How do you know the version of a JAR file ?

how do you know the version of a JAR file ?
is it what is written on MANIFEST.MF ?
for example i have a JAR file
    whose MANIFEST.MF has this
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: Ant 1.4.1so, whats the version of this JAR ? 1.0 ?

    anyway, that was JSTL..jar.
Now, come to another JAR file....
    whose MANIFEST.MF has......
    Manifest-Version: 1.0
    Created-By: Apache Ant 1.5.1
    Extension-Name: Struts Framework
    Specification-Title: Struts Framework
    Specification-Vendor: Apache Software Foundation
    Specification-Version: 1.1
    Implementation-Title: Struts Framework
    Implementation-Vendor: Apache Software Foundation
    Implementation-Vendor-Id: org.apache
    Implementation-Version: 1.1
    Class-Path:  commons-beanutils.jar commons-collections.jar commons-dig
    ester.jar commons-logging.jar commons-validator.jar jakarta-oro.jar s
truts-legacy.jarso, How do you believe whats the version now ? do u go with the comment "Manifest-Version: 1.0" or "Specification-Version: 1.1" ?
definitely, you would go with the "Specification-Version: 1.1" and declare this JAR as STRUTS 1.1
hmmm, so, if nothing is mentioned like above should we follow the MANIFEST version as the JSTL version ? in my earlier example i did not find any comment on ""Specification-Version" ......so , if anybody gives me that JAR , how do i decide whether its 1.0 specification or 1.1 specifucation compliant ?
can you tell whats the JSTL version of my earler example JAR file ?

  • How do you get the best Range?

How do you get the best range on the Extreme? I am very unfamiliar with the settings and what they mean.

The default settings on the AirPort Extreme are set for maximum radio power so it will produce the best range without further adjustments.
The actual range of the device will depend on the number of obstructions in the signal path between the AirPort Extreme and the other device that is connecting to it.

  • How do you know the object is from another database through db link

    I have a table named a2z_people. I searched dba_objects, I found this is a public synonym.
How can I know the real table name in the another database. Where is this table come from? In another words, what's the source database?
    Thanks!

In DBA_SYNONYMS, there is a DB_LINK column that names the database link being used (assuming the real object is on a remote database). Is that what you're looking for?

  • How do you make the title bar display different text than the page title?

I'm looking for a way for the title bar display of my web page to be different than the text in the actual nav bar created by iWeb. For instance, I'd like the nav bar to just say Home for my main page, but in the title bar in the browser say "blah blah blah."
I know there has to be a way to do this. iWeb has actually done it on one page already, but I can't figure out how. I think it picked up the title bar text from the first text box in the page. For instance, the page name in the navigation bar is "blahs for today" but the browser title bar when you open that page says "blah blah," which happens to be the first line of text on the page. The page title in iWeb.app, though, is "blahs for today." But if I look at the source code it lists title as "blah blah."
I'm guessing I might be able to work around by making an invisible text box with the text that I want in the title bar as the very first thing on the page, and hope iWeb makes that the title bar text. I'd rather have a more correct way of doing it.
Is there a way of doing this in the source code without having to change a lot of stuff?
    Thanks for any help.

Richard ~ The key is the default Title box that iWeb creates for every new page — it's that which you need to edit, not another text box you've created. And to make the text in that Title box invisible, see here.

  • Anyone know the best "generic" display profile

    Hi,
I have a 23" CD and i don't want to spend any money with software or anything else. I do photo editing, etc., but not anything "critical." Is there a preset in OS X that will give you the best, for what it's worth, display settings. Obviously you can pick any one of them and eventually your eyes will adjust, but I want to hear from people who've had experience and success with one preset
    thanks
    Jeff

FWIW, I have found that the "default" profile used by 10.3 to be too washed out to be of much use, even for the "casual user". The next best (IMMHO) is "Wide Gaumet RGB". In order to use this profile, you will have to deselect the "Show profiles for this display only" checkbox in the Displays/Color preference pane. You might also want to play around with the "Expert Mode" calibration tool (click on "Calibrate" in the Displays/Color preference pane). Run the calibrator in subdued light with your eyes 2-3 feet from the screen. At first it's hard to see what you are supposed to see but you will get the "hang of it" after a few minutes. The first profile you create will most likely be way off but by then you will have a good idea of how the calibration tool works. It takes a few minutes to run through all of the screens but you can end up with a fairly useable profile.
Then download this grayscale chart and look at the extreme white and black swatches. The white should be pure with no trace of color and the black should be "jet". You can also check http://www.photo-tech.co.uk/monitor_cal.html>this chart. there are others with up to 256 shades of gray but you pretty much have to pay for those!
Then, get some primary color chips (from the paint store...and make sure you get primary red blue and green.) You want primary red, blue and green. Now create three swatches of color using hex values 0000FF for blue, FF0000 for red and 00FF00 for green. Compare the tone of the color chips to your computer swatches (just hold them up to the display) to see how close your calibrated values are.
Without buying a calibration tool, that's about as close as you are going to get.

  • How do you get the best quality on Apple Tv using Imovie08?

I have done some searching and still have some questions. I have been creating movies from my home movie DV (digital8) tapes. when I am done I export using the highest setting. I am thinking that most D8 cameras are 480i or P. When exported higher does the computer upscale this? Should I export in 640x480 and let the tv do the upscaling or does the DV have enough lines to do the higher setting. There is a lot of discussion about 06 but since I started with 08 I find it difficult to navigate and after several posts it seems that the quality is no different. I do have quicktime pro so if it is better to export from Imovie to quicktime then to apple tv into Itunes please advise.
    Thanks
    GE

My Question is on QTP what should the data rate be for DV.
It depends on which variant you are using. The DV Stream options for DV and DVCPRO (also known as DV25 and DVCPRO25) are typically between 28.5 and 29.0 Mbps for the video track and the same for the audio track while DVCPRO50 has twice that data rate for both audio and video tracks. The QT DV and DVCPRO video codecs used by the "Movie to QT Movie" option are typically about 23 Mbps with DVCPRO50 coming in at about 46.0 Mbps. As to the audio data rate component, it all depends on which audio codec you use. Most people probably opt for the Linear PCM 16-bit 48 KHz combination which is usually on the order of about 800 Kbps.
Original Data rates for some full QT conversions are over 20k This is as you know not supported by ATV.
Correct. And, since iMovie '08 converts from whatever compression format that was originally imported to the application, doesn't it make more sense to export DIRECTLY to the final compression format you plan to use with your TV device? You can export directly/indirectly to iTunes (i.e., via the "Movies > Sharing" folder) using the sharing option or you can export via the "Using QT" option to either the contextual (CAVLC) Progressive Main Profile preset or using your own custom settings.
If one of you would be so kind as to list the largest file that can be played in ATV using quicktime in the form of input that would be great.
The maximum H.264 display dimensions at 24/25 fps is 720p (1280x720) and at 30 fps 540p (960x540) and a max video data rate of 5 Mbps with AAC-LC audio limited to 160 Kbps and a 48.0 KHz sampling rate in M4v, MP4, or MOV file containers. The maximum MPEG-4 Simple Profile dimensions of 720x432 at 30 fps at a max data rate of 3 Mbps with AAC-LC audio limited to 160 Kbps and a 48.0 KHz sampling rate.
Since I am still uneducated about the relations to all these numbers and see different sizes that play ok in ATV I need some advice. I have even exported from quicktime and let Itunes compress to ATV. The file was bigger than what was sent from Imovie, the data rate was more, but per second was the same.
Pre-sets and user settings "target" a data rate but content variables such as lighting, contrast, color saturated, amount of action and its motion vectors, frequency of scene changes/key framing, etc. all affect an end product. Further, when dealing with multi-pass encoding, the data rate excursion (i.e., variation above and below the targeted video data rate) may also come into play. For instance, an iPod file target with a video data rate of 1500 Kbps in extreme cases may have an instantaneous data rate between 600 Kbps and 3750 Kbps using the "Download" setting and can prevent iTunes synchronization. Haven't looked that deeply into TV since I use a custom iPod setting for day-to-day use of a a single file for iPhone, iPod, TV, as well as, web site, server, peer-to-peer, QTL, and reference file sharing of media. (I.e., I use my original DVDs when I want "full" audio and video quality.)

  • Attachment Downloading in Mail - How do you know the status of the download

    Hi,
I'm trying to send a keynote presentation from my iMac to my MacBook and it doesn't seem to be working. The attachment shows up in my email, I click on it, and it doesn't really do anything. Is there a way to check the status of the download, or clear all the downloads for mail? I think it's just the size of the file, because pages files work, and even very small keynote files, but not a 3 slide keynote presentation.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.
    Brandon

    Hi Brandon
If you want to know quite a lot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LAN
In short a Local Area Network is your network at home. Both your computers are somehow conncted to the internet. Most people don't want to afford seperate internet lines for each computer they own, so they build a LAN.
Many internet providers will give you a modem with more than one network port so you can plug in more than one computers. If there's only one port, most people connect a router to get more ports. If you have wireless at home, you also have a LAN.
Now to the better options: On both copmuters: Go to system preferences > Sharing. Enable File Sharing. To learn more about it, just click on the question mark button at the lower right.
After you did this, open a Finder window. In the sidebar there will be a new item: Shared. If you open the triangle you'll see the computer name of your other computer. This can take a few seconds to show up.
Now you just place the files you want to share in your Public folder so the other Mac can access it.

  • How do you know the audio level of a keyframes

I'm varying the audio levels of clips on the timeline by creating keyframes using the pen tool. I create four points:
    1) -inf = beginning of fade-in
    2) -5dB = end of fade-in
    3) -5db = beginning of fade-out
    4) -inf = end of fade-out
But when I'm going back to adjust points, how do I know what level they're at already without having to drag them away from their home position and then back?
Scrolling over them with the mouse (and not clicking) just gives me a crosshair and no info.
I want to make sure that points 2&3 are at the same level, so I can just move the envelope region between them up and down to change the volume. Any quick way to do this to speed up my process?

Specifically to address this point: if you mouse over the audio levels' rubber band segment BETWEEN your points 2) and 3) until the cursor changes to an up/down adjustment arrow ⬍, and move it up/down, it will adjust BOTH the levels at 2) and 3), maintaining the relative difference between them (or, if points 2) and 3) start at the same level, this adjustment will keep them equal as you drag them both up/down together in one action.)
As usual, much easier to DO it, rather than describe it!

  • How do you know the true age of your ipod classic..

how can i find out the true age of the ipod classic.. i know its a newer version.. but how do i know if it was sitting on a shelf forever or brand new from apple...

You should see it in part of the description once the divice is connected to the computer through a usb cable. Or you could look at the number by going on setting on your ipod touch then go to general then from there go on about scroll down until you see serial number and ther it is.

The 4th and 5th digits are the build week. My iMac starts "W8502..." so it was a week 02 build.
