Settings/Control Center. There are two options which are pretty self-explanitory...one enables/disables access on the Lock Screen and one enables/disables access within apps/games.

Suddenly my ipad is unable to connect to our wifi. It buffers all the time?
All other devices are working normally. Is this a fault wityh my ipad or have I inadvertantly altered some setting?Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

ITunes 10.7 won't send 5.1 audio out, all other apps/games work
Hi all,
I'm trying to get the videos I bought on iTunes 10 to play in 5.1 out of iTunes on Windows 7. The videos have Stereo and 5.1, as per their "Get Info". PowerDVD, WoW, all other apps and games playback 5.1 audio on my system perfectly, as do 5.1 videos using VLC.
When playing an iTunes video with stereo and 5.1 audio, stereo plays fine, 5.1 is silent when I switch to it.
I read that Quicktime's preferences need to be set. I did that. 5.1 audio, 16-bit, 48k. Still nothing.
The audio device is SoundMAX which came with my Asus P5E. Drivers are updated.
The same thing happens when setting my audio device to my Logitech G35 5.1 headphones.
This seems to be more of a Quicktime/iTunes problem than a driver problem since everything else works.
Or, does iTunes/Quicktime Player simply not work with 5.1 properly on Windows?

After your question I was sure I didn't have a smart card service and searched for ways to reinstall it. I also was advised by my computer literate brother to recheck Windows Updates for Smart Card services. I found the (long ago hidden by me) Microsoft Base Smart Card Cryptographic Service Provider Package (KB909520) and ran that update. Then I retried the process I found at a web site named lazybit. I'm honestly not sure which piece did what but I now have a service named Smart Card Helper, and iTunes opens just fine. Good enough for me - thanks again!! -

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

iMac screen appears to have smudges under the glass along the top of the screen. They are not on the surface and it doesn't matter what wallpaper is in place. Anyone else had this happen?
The " glass" front of your iMac is really not glass, at all, but an optically clear polycarbonite (plastic) that a black border painted or possibly "printed" on the backside (to hide the strong magnets that hold this cover on) that has a metal frame glued to the back to which this frame is held in place with very strong magnets.
You use one or two small suction cups or a suction cup from a windshield mounted mobile GPS mount or purchase a small commercial glass cup, that is used to handle bare glass, to get the polycarbonite frame off.
The reason I mention the material is polycarbonite is that you should NOT be using ANY type of retail/commercial window glass cleaners on this front glass or on the LCD screen.
Polycarbonite easily scratches and clouds when using ANY conventional glass cleaning solutions.
You need to use a lint-free, microfiber style cloth dampened in warm water (completely wring the water out of the microfiber cloth to the point cloth is just warm and damp with NO water dripping at all from the cloth) and use this to get the screen and glass don't screen clean. -

To switch it to another number, you need to activate another phone on the number you no longer need (or have Verizon cancel it for the deceased member). Change your router channel number. Most times this works & is all you have to do.
Disconnect & reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apple’s routers. Wait for everything to reboot.

You can try to boot from the Install DVD for your Mac and run AHT from there if it boots.

Are any of your other applications going wonky, or is it just Logic?
I'm afraid I've never heard of this particular problem before, but if it were happening to me the first thing I would do is delete my "com.apple.logic.express.plist" file in Library>Preferences, then repair permissions in Disc Utility, and finally restart my computer. Then I would launch Logic and see if the problem has been corrected. It's amazing how much these two steps can accomplish.
If that doesn't resolve the issue I would launch Logic and go to Preferences>Audio Units Manager to see if all my plug-ins are properly validated. -
I have tried updating my apps and software but it says my startup disk or hard disk is full. I deleted a lot of files and apps but they won't be erased from the trash. Please help.
For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:

Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation—not the mythical 10%, 15%, or any other percentage. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.

You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside a photo or iTunes library will corrupt the library. Changes to such a library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
Install the app in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password.
The application window will open behind other open windows. When you scan a volume, the window will eventually show all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.
