How do you stop an iTunes back up to disk function in the middle?
Ok i im using a windows xp pro computer. I clicked file>library>backup to disk. I started backup yesterday (four PM) and it is still running today (10 AM at the moment) how do i force stop it? if this doesnt stop, i cant open the disk drive, start a new backup, and my computer runs pretty slow. any ideas how to fix it or what the problem is?
The iTunes feedback is confusing indeed. I use the general Feedback page to report bugs and to do suggestions.
They assure that the messages will be read, but you won't get a reply.
As this is a user-to-user forum, it is highly unlikely your suggestions will be read by Apple employees (except moderators).
You can exclude songs from shuffling by checking 'Skip when Shuffling' in the 'Options' tab of the Info window (Get Info of a song; shortcut: command-I)
Unfortunately, you can only do this song by song.
Using this script, you can enable/disable 'Skip when Shuffling' of all selected songs.
You could put the songs/sfx in a playlist, select them all (command-A) and run the script.
To run multiple libraries, you can choose between these two applications:
iTunes Library Manager and Libra.
Although not real instant switchable libraries, both apps. can create multiple 'iTunes Library' files, which enables you to have separate libraries for all kinds of files.

Does the book show in the Purchased tab in the ibookstore in the iBooks for downloading, and the amount that's come off your card is the book's price, it's not a temporary store holding charge (which should disappear within a few days or so) ?
If it doesn't show in Purchased then you could check to see if it shows in your Purchaes history so that you can use the 'report a problem' link from it : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via the Store > View Account menu option and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
If doesn't show there or the 'report a problem' link doesn't work (it's been taking some people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) then you can try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.
For the card being declined, if it's a debit card then I don't think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined
If it's a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ? If it is then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes support as above and see if they know why it's being declined. -

This is going to sound a bit odd but it's my partner that checks my messages as he has trust issues. I can't put any kind of passwords on anything as he will then suspect I am hiding something regardless of if I am or not.
I want to continue to back up my iPhone in case something happens to it. If I delete my txt messages off my phone, does this permanently delete them everywhere so they will not show up when I back up my phone? -
How do you stop synched iTunes music disappearing from my iPhone 5?
I have about 35G of music on my iTunes on my iMac, a good % of it having been purchased on ITunes. The music sync setting for my iPhone 5 is automatic / everything.
For the past couple of months, I've been noticing music disappearing from my iPhone when it's offline (eg on the plane, when I listen to my music on my iPhone the most). Such music would come back as "in the cloud" when I regain wifi / data access. I would then download them onto my iPhone again. And then they would disappear again! How can I stop such annoying behavior? Does switching music sync to manual help? Thank you.Hello claire267
In the Messages app, in the drop down menu go to Messages > Preferences. Once there click the Accounts tab and then remove the iMessage account and that will stop all messages associate with your phone number from showing up on your computer.

i've uninstalled and reinstalled itunes numerous times but it still begins an update whenever i open it, the update then causes the macbook to crash halfway through. I've also tried opening it with all my internet switched off.
Any ideas on how to stop it updating? so i can get it to just open?Yay!

Delete the backup from iTunes. Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and highlight the backup and click on delete. You have to do that after every sync. Also, make sure that you empty the recycle bin (PC) or trash (Mac) to really delete the backup.
Also, in the future you can turn on Private browsings in Settings>Safari or go there and Clear History right before you sync. -
When I receive an email every single mail that has the same subject shows up in the inbox as a separate email. It is very confusing when you see a bunch of emails and have to try to figure out the actual order. The point is that I simply do not want to see all the other emails in the same window. All I want to do is read the current email. And if that particular email has any previous emails in the email thats OK but what is happening is you see the related email twice. This was not occurring in the previous version. The botton on the top that says Hide Related Emails does not work continuously. I am using Maverick.

The forums would be full of people complaining that you had to go through an additional step ( opening the phone app) to get to contacts. I use the contacts app from the home screen far more often then I use it in relation to calling someone.
I like the way it is far more than the way you propose.

I have had this same issue but thankfully fixed it. Follow he steps below:
Sync your iPhone with you iTunes therefore your info is backed up. Unplug your phone.
Go to Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Once your phone has reset and come back on answer the question until it asks if you want to back up from itunes Click this then plug your phone in.
After everything has sync'd back to your phone everything should work fine.

i tryed everything i can in the setting and so on , i even clicked on the downloads arrow to pause it and delete them but like i said it will now stop.

no matter what we do it will still download them trust me i tryed everything and i also went to icloud to see if it was there but to what i see is that there is no apps there this is some crazy itune program that needs to remade. -

No, an external drive will not always be mounted. If the drive goes to sleep, it can unmount, or it may unmount for other reasons. As Chris said, confim that the drive is mounted and active before launching iTunes.

Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
