How do you stop download of OS Yosemite. From BOwa1

How do you stop download of OS Yosemite. I started the download but changed my mind. can i stop the download or remove the upgrade after download.
Thank You,
BOwa1

I don't know of a way to stop the download, but when it finishes it will run automatically. Simply quit the installer. You can then delete it from the Applications folder like any other file.

How do you stop downloading itunes match songs to iphone 5?
Cell data is turned off but it is still downloading.

When you initially enable iTunes Match on any iDevice it is wise to let it operate for a good period docked or with good WiFi.
Best route to stop it if essential is to switch off iTunes Match.

  • How do you stop synched iTunes music disappearing from my iPhone 5?

I have about 35G of music on my iTunes on my iMac, a good % of it having been purchased on ITunes.  The music sync setting for my iPhone 5 is automatic / everything.
For the past couple of months, I've been noticing music disappearing from my iPhone when it's offline (eg on the plane, when I listen to my music on my iPhone the most).  Such music would come back as "in the cloud" when I regain wifi / data access.  I would then download them onto my iPhone again.  And then they would disappear again!  How can I stop such annoying behavior?  Does switching music sync to manual help?  Thank you.

    Hello claire267
In the Messages app, in the drop down menu go to Messages > Preferences. Once there click the Accounts tab and then remove the iMessage account and that will stop all messages associate with your phone number from showing up on your computer.

  • How do you stop downloading file from hyperlinks

Sometimes I click a hyperlink and a file starts to download.  Is there a way to have a confirmation screen ask if I would like to download this file.
I hate that is just does it. It would stop a a lot of garbage in my download folder too.

No, that's not currently possible.  A .mpkg installer package can be opened automatically, because it is just a document opened by Apple's installer.  As such, it cannot run any third-party code without user intervention.  It's possible an installer might not require a password (though then it wouldn't be able to install in Applications), but would still require the user to follow through.
Didn't mean to restrict what I was saying only to an .mpkg installer package (the current avenue of attack this current Trojan is using.) Just meant that it seems to me that where a download of any kind automatically follows from clicking a link, this might be an exploitable first level of weakness for someone who finds a way to write code that bypasses quarantine, admin authentication and elevates to root. Of course, would hope that would be very difficult. But Apple seems constantly to be patching against this kind of possibility, so it doesn't seem completely out of the question. I don't know enough to know how completely out of the question it is.
And, those still using Safari with Tiger, unsupported going on two years, would seem especially vulnerable.
At least, Firefox alerts you to a download and gives you the option to cancel.

  • How do you stop lists of previous comments from popping up in Facebook when you try to enter a new comment?

I have the same problem as this person but the response to him didn't have anything to do with the mobile version (even though it's right there in the title):
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/961467?esab=a&as=aaq
I'm running mobile Firefox 22.0 on a Nexus 4 and recently (this week I think) Firefox has decided it would be great to list every single comment that I've made on Facebook when I go to enter text in a comment field. It's extremely annoying and aggravating since it blocks the rest of the page while you're trying to type. I've been using FF for almost 15 years now on my desktop and the last 2.5 years on my mobile phones. Never seen this kind of problem and I have scoured for a solution to no avail.
I tried clearing the cache but that didn't help. I'm hesitant to clear the data or I'll lose my bookmarks (I'm not good at backing them up and won't take the time regardless) and whatnot but oddly enough somehow FF is only around 20 Mb yet it's bloated up to almost 120 Mb for some reason. I can't even find a setting to tell it how much memory to use for temp/cache files. I don't recall it ever getting anywhere near that bloated on my Thunderbolt.
I don't recall installing any updates recently. I haven't changed any settings. Nada. It seems to only be on FB's site too as I entered some info in my bank's website to test and when I reloaded and went to enter text in to the same fields there was no "history". It just started doing it all of a sudden. If I can't figure it out soon I will have to uninstall it. Please help.
On a side note not being able to access your bookmarks without opening another tab is simply, well, stupid. Took me a little while to figure out where they were hiding. It used to be in the menu but I realize that ICS was a little while back.

To prevent Firefox from displaying form autocomplete suggestions, you can turn off that feature using the about:config page.
In the address bar, type or paste '''about:config''' and tap the Enter/Return key.
I suggest bookmarking this for easier future access.
In the search box, type or paste '''formf''' and tap the Enter/Return key.
Scroll down to '''browser.formfill.enable''' and tap the Toggle button to switch it from true to false.
That's it. Does it work on Facebook?
''The about:config preferences editor in the mobile version is similar in principle to the desktop version but many of the preferences available on the desktop version have no effect in mobile. This one I only tested on one site, but it seems to work.''

  • HT4913 How do you then download all the songs from icloud to itunes? I have over 2000 songs and don't fancy clicking one at a time..

    as above.
Thanks for all the help in advance!

On your PC, create a playlist called something like "Touch"
Add everything you want to download to your touch to the playlist.
Wait a minute or two and then open the music App on your touch.
Find the playlist and scroll to the bottom.
    Click "Download All"

  • How do you stop an MBP headphone-in from constantly re-detecting input type?

I'm a professional music producer - I work for majors.
I only use "regular" ("studio quality") headphones in my MBP, for reference on-the-move.
I have had the same issue on two consecutive MBP's now.
Every time there is the slightest movement or slight strain on the jack - the MBP silences the input (and, I assume tries to detect what type of input there is at the socket). This can happen when adjusting the MBP in ones lap, table... it can happen at every movement of machine or cable.
The jack doesn't have to visibly move. I have to take out the jack wait a second and re-insert. This doesn't even work every time.
So: How does one manually set and lock the input type?

    Vogon wrote:
    Indeed it would, thanks.
I have a number of USB related devices but I don't want to carry extra equipment around or want to use headphones other than those I am used to in the studio... Ones you can wear for extended periods too. Unless you know of studio quality USB headphones?
Especially when my >$2500  MBP claims to have a usable headphone socket. ;-)
So, there is no user option to turn off a feature which interupts work like this?
I don't think that it is a 'feature' my bet is on 'failure' instead.
I think that the connection between the 3 pole connector on your studio quality headphones (a model would be nice to know) and the 4 pole socket on the Mac is not good. Can you reproduce this with a standard pair of Apple earbuds (a test only) or is it limited to whatever your headphones are?
I will also suggest a USB interface, they are very small (put it in your pocket, buy 2) the Logitech version is in the picture below.
If you do choose the 3.5mm to USB option this one (Turtle Beach Amigo II) is the best I have used.
Requiring no drivers (on a Mac) it sounds at least as good as the internal audio does.

  • How do you stop the top of itunes from switching to importing/equalizer/etc

Rather annoying, I want to monitor the progress of an import or keep the song playing shown but if you import songs in the background, itunes has the annoying habit to cycle between each infos.
Is there a setting somewhere? Of course this only happens when you import songs, ie when itunes slows to a crawl.
    Any ideas?

it's not possible to sync 2 ios devices
but if you use the same appleID on both and sync with itunes on a computer or with icloud and wish to stop then you go into settings->icloud and settings->itunes & app stores
and set them to use seperate appleID's

  • How can you stop your ipod touch data from being restored on the computer with a program that lets you see your deleated safari history

    heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllppppppp pppppppppppppp

Delete the backup from iTunes. Go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and highlight the backup and click on delete. You have to do that after every sync. Also, make sure that you empty the recycle bin (PC) or trash (Mac) to really delete the backup.
Also, in the future you can turn on Private browsings in Settings>Safari or go there and Clear History right before you sync.

  • How to you stop the health app running in the background?

How to you stop the new Health App from running in the background? Its its always running collecting data on how many steps I have taken and how far I have walked.. I walked 12000 steps and travelled 4.1km DRIVING my kids to school this morning according to the app.

I never intend to use the health app because I do not need an app on my phone to help me live a healthy lifestyle.  Therefore I find it intrusive there is no way to stop it from tracking my steps or whatever else it may be doing.  I found a way to force the app to crash and maybe this will stop it from running in the background.  Open the app, tap "Health Data" at the bottom of the screen, tap "Fitness" then "Steps" and tap "Add Data" type in a huge number - a very huge number with 30 or more characters, you can even add more than 1 decimal point.  Repeat this for "walking + Running Distance".  From this point forward the app will crash when you try to look at the data.  Maye this prevents it from recording new data, I'm not sure but I really like the fact the app crashes.  Hopefully Apple will add a feature to allow us to turn off data collection altogether or even better, allow us to delete this app.

  • How Do You Stop and Clear Updates in Progress?

Lets say you deploy and update and in goes to "in progress" and then you decide not to apply the updates (right away). How do you stop it and clear in from the SBS console?
    Thanks!

    Yep:  WSUS
Right click and "decline", if "stop" is not a choice.  You can always bring it back to the surface later.

How do you stop a ios7 download?

I found this hint that you might find useful:
Click & hold on the Dock icon and you should see a pause option.
Mac Apple Store->Purchases should show the DL status and give you an option to pause it.
Finally, if it finishes DLing and starts the installer, just quit it. You have to actively choose to run the installer once it downloads to your /Applicatiions folder.
I hope you'll post the results of the fix on this thread!
