How do you stop Notes on an iPhone 4S disappearing and ending up in your Yahoo email account Notes?
I have been doubting my sanity! Items held in Notes seem to disappear at random. I have established from the ASC that missing Notes are sometimes moved to the Notes folder of your Yahoo email account and much to my relief I have found them there. Is it possible to stop this happening? If so how do you do it? I cannot see anything in Settings/Notes and when I turn off Notes in Settings/Mail all my Notes disappear!
MobileMe works fine for me but you don't need a MobileMe account. You need an IMAP account.
Although a POP account can be accessed with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. You can't store Sent messages on the server, keep mailboxes synchronized between multiple email clients used to access the account, more than one email client cannot access the incoming mail server for a POP account at the same time or near the same time because the incoming mail server will lock the account's inbox mailbox preventing access for a period of time.
None of this is an issue or problem with an IMAP account which is designed to be accessed with multiple email clients. I keep the Mail.app on my Mac launched and running checking my MM account which has a junk mail filter. Any received message that is automatically marked as junk and is moved to the account's Junk mailbox stored on the server is reflected automatically when checking the account with the iPhone's Mail client since all server stored mailboxes for the account are kept synchronized, which isn't possible with a POP account.

I already have a similar topic on this when I needed to figure out how to stop Mountain Lion from making endless copies of my text edit files and I was going to try the disabling of it that someone in that thread suggested, but I can't find where the Versions backups are being stored.
Anyway, tonight I cam across a new problem, when I went into "about this Mac" and looked at my Storage, I had almost 1gb of data in the "backups" section. I just happened to have Finder open when I went into the Time Machine in the status bar and when it entered Time Machine, I had dozens of copies of my desktop. Thing is, I don't have my Time Machine hard drive connected and I don't have a Time Capsule router/hard drive. And don't give me this garbage about how "It's not real backups, it's just a snapshot" or whatever, because the ONLY things that I have stored on my computer that I have altered since I got mountain lion is two Text Edit files and the Finder Desktop (and yes, I have checked almost all the programs I use, and of the things that Time Machine will open in, those are the only things that have backups listed that I can access) and almost 1gb is being taken up completely needlessly with the computer backing up things onto itself. Obviously these are more than just snapshots and are obviously the real files because after throwing EVERYTHING on my desktop into a file, that file is only 3.8mb in size, so that almost 1GB in backups is coming from SOMEWHERE.
The solution I aluded to in my first sentence also depends on going into the Terminal to make each individual app stop auto saving Versions, however, since my desktop is being backed up, there's no program to stop Mountain Lion from doing that.
Can anyone help me figure out how to make it stop backing up? Seriously, almost 1 gb is being totally wasted on a series of desktop items that are 3.8mb in size, one Text Edit file that is 250kb in size, and another text edit file that is 41kb in size. What person in Apple would possibly have thought this endless backing up of files onto the main hard drive would have been a good idea? So in a year if I did nothing but go on the internet, save one picture to one file on my desktop and did nothing else with my computer, would I have 200 gb of desktop backups that the computer saved onto itself? Are you kidding me? OR failing that, can anyone tell me how to find this damned backup file and delete it? I'm not an idiot, I know how to plug in a hard drive or flash drive and backup my information, I don't need my computer to be making hundreds of copies of every single file on my computer that I change slightly onto itself that not only needlessly eats up it's own space, but if the hard drive died, all those "backups" would be gone too because it wrote the backups to itself.
I am so frustrated by this totally ridiculous and wasteful "feature" they put in, it does nothing but waste hard drive space with it's hundreds of copies of everything you alter slightly. And I am absolutely not starting any video editing projects until I figure out how to turn this off. If around 4mb of total text and desktop backups add up to almost 1gb in a few weeks, what the heck is a video editing project going to end up in with size? Am I the only one completely flustered by this ridiculousness? Is there any point in writing into Apple to complain or are they just going to say "No, we're brilliant, we think this is an amazing feature so you just have to deal iwth it and when your hardd drive fills up, too bad, jerk!"?? If I am doing something and I don't have access to a single one of those options, I don't know why I brought my computer with me in the first place. And I don't see how you can say it's an illusory gain in disk space, hundreds of copies of text documents, garageband files, Final Cut files, Motion Files and basically any program that makes files onto my comptuer that I can myself make incremental changes to, those all need to be stored somehow. Again, if you can explain to me how July 26 - Aug 16 is a week, I will agree with you that that is a good thing because IF it only saved for a week, it wouldn't be an issue. Sadly, no matter how many links you post, I still have text edit backups stretching from today back to July 26. They're not going away and I have no reason to beleive any other file I edit is going to go away either since they haven't been. They're all there eating up HD space and this imaginary "week" limit is simply not coming into effect. I hate it and there needs to be a simple way to simply shut it off. I didn't spend hundreds of dollars on external drives just for my main hard drive to be filled up with hundreds un useless, undeletable backups of stuff I already have backed up.

They don't want to troubleshoot it. And, honestly, if it's your personal phone, they shouldn't have to. it's not their problem unless their boss says it is. -

As has been said, the iPhone itself can't be hacked this way, as far as anyone currently knows.
Your Apple ID is another story. Any kind of online accounts can be hacked, and Apple IDs are no exception. If someone hacks your Apple ID, they could see all the data in the associated iCloud account, such as contacts, and could send those contacts texts that would appear to come from you. If that were to happen, you should see an alert on your other devices that your Apple ID is being used with Messages on a new device.
If you have not seen that alert, it's unlikely that this problem is occurring due to such a hack. In that case, it would be more likely that either someone has gotten their hands on your phone, or some other Apple device registered to your Apple ID, and has used it to send that message. Or that the person claiming you sent a picture is lying for some reason.
If you believe your Apple ID may have been hacked, you should change your password immediately (at appleid.apple.com). You should also seriously consider enabling two-factor authentication on your Apple ID. -

I have had this same issue but thankfully fixed it. Follow he steps below:
Sync your iPhone with you iTunes therefore your info is backed up. Unplug your phone.
Go to Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings
Once your phone has reset and come back on answer the question until it asks if you want to back up from itunes Click this then plug your phone in.
After everything has sync'd back to your phone everything should work fine.

Cell data is turned off but it is still downloading.When you initially enable iTunes Match on any iDevice it is wise to let it operate for a good period docked or with good WiFi.

How are you importing photos? The photos (camera roll) from my wife's iPhone 5 syncs via wifi to my iPhoto account on the the laptop. This happens when she logs on to the laptop. We do not use the same Apple ID.
Like I said, I did this a couple years ago. I totally forgot how I did it and what method (iTunes settings?, Mac settings?, iPhone setting?) I utilized.
I was over at the forum which deals with iPhoto but they feel it is an iCloud issue.Understood.

Unfortunately, "Stop pressing and holding the Home button" only works if it is an intentional action. Obviously, this is not the problem. The problem occurs when the button is depressed and held ACCIDENTALLY! Like, when your iPhone or iPod is in your pocket, or purse. This is how butt-dialing occurs: the button gets depressed, the voice control comes on, and then the imperfect software mis-registers the next random sound as a voice command, resulting in a random call to a random contact.
It is a very annoying "feature" to say the least. And the fact that it cannot be disabled only makes it more infuriating. -

It locks automatically when you hold it to your head.
If it fails to do this, then remove the case and see if it solves it.
If it does not, then do the basics - restart, reset, restore.
If that does not solve it, then make an appointment at the genius bar. -
How do you delete all contacts on iPhone 4S? I have tried to sync and end up w/duplicates and now triplicates. 4,000 contacts have now turned into 12,000 contacts!! Hi Cynthia! If you are syncing from something like Gmail you can go into the iPhones Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>(account you are syncing)> and turn off contacts. It will ask you if you want to delete them from your phone - just click delete. Exit Settings and turn phone off by power button (not all the way OFF). Then re-open Settings>mail, Contacts, Calendars>(account you are syncing)> and turn Contacts back on - This is where you need to be careful - When you turn contacts back on you will be prompted to delete or save the contacts already on your phone. CLICK DELETE. You should now have only your synced contacts on your phone! Hope it helps!
