I spent a LONG time on gmail going through my list of contacts. There were about 400 and I got it down to about 90. When I went to sync my new phone, ALL 400 synced.

Did you import an iPhoto Library from the old Hard Drive? Do you still have that old Library?
The way to clear out a Library is to Export the photos - Apps like iPhoto2Disk or PhotoShare will help you export to a Folder tree matching your Events.
For the annoying start-up message:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

How do you sync music to iphone/ipad on a replacement computer?

My old Win7 laptop crashed and I had no chance to de-authorize it in iTunes. When I tried to sync my music to my iPhone via a replacement Win7 laptop, iTunes warned me that because I was attempting to sync to a new laptop that it would erase all music before copying my selections. Okay, fine. It erased everything and now iTunes refuses to copy ANY music to my iPhone. I have looked in all help files for iTunes and iPhone, to no avail. I hope someone else has already conquered this problem.

I solved this problem myself. This problem was caused, not just by crashed laptop, but also because I had moved the windows media player based music folder to the 2nd hard drive on that laptop. After the crash, I was able to use the DOS prompt to copy my data off the crashed laptop to the new laptop. When I installed iTunes on the new laptop, it found the music folder and also the iTunes subfolder. The iTunes folder must have config files the identify where the music is stored, so iTunes thought music was stored on a 2nd drive. It could not find that location on the new laptop, so it could not sync anything to my iPhone. iTunes would relocate individual files, but I could not find an automatic command to cause iTunes to relocate all files at once. Apple Express Lane (one-time support for $29) was no help, other than to suggest I uninstall and reinstall iTunes and reload all my music from CD's into iTunes.
My solution: I did reinstall iTunes but I also deleted the iTunes music folder. I then had to convert each music folder into iTunes files and redownload my iTunes purchases. This took about 4 hours, but was still much quicker than reloading from CD's. While that was in progress, I realized I should have tried deleting anything that looked like a config file in the iTunes music folder, rather than the whole folder. Then maybe iTunes would have found the iTunes music files in the correct drive, avoiding the need to manually convert all files into iTunes.
I could not find a menu option or preference setting that would allow iTunes to automatically detect where the files were actually located in the iTunes folder. If any one knows, please set me straight. If not, I consider this a pretty serious defect in iTunes that it cannot overcome such a simple redirect as this.

iphone needs iOS5 with enabled iCloud and Macbook needs Lion 10.7.2 and have iCloud preference pane enabled to sync all content exact same as on iOS5 , in your case enable iCal sync on both.
You have to use the same Apple-ID on both iOS5 and OSX Lion then ( as icloud Apple-ID ).

I have an iPad 3 (that I bought when it first came out), and at the moment I'm trying to sync it with my iTunes music on my computer but when I click on the iPad, it is coming up that it's a new one?

Both my computer and iPad are connected to the same account on iTunes so that can't be the problem. Before plugging it into there, I synced it in with iCloud just to make sure I don't lose anything by mistake. Can I get some help please?

I have the same problem. It is only with tv shows and only with programs I have downloaded after the software update.
Apple support sent me the above link too....but it doesn't solve the problem...my computer is authorized and the content is in my library and will play on my Mac air, but it will not sync the tv shows, it keeps saying my computer isn't authorized for it.

- The iTunes backup that iTunes makes included photos in the camera roll. If yo go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices what is the date of the backup? Is it when the photos were on the iPod? You have to restore from that backup.
- What may have happened is that you backup the iPod after you restored the iPod but before restoring from backup. iTunes only keeps one backup and overwrites the previous backup with the changes.
