How does Solution Manager manage upgrade?

Except get the upgrade  key from SM4.0, I do not see any other involvement of SM4.0 in the
upgrade.
However in a recent paper by Jon Reed , he says that you can use SM4.0 to manage your
upgrade.
Please share your opinions. Thanks!

Solution Manager's module Implementation Tools can help to you conduct from a "Fuctional" point of view your entire Upgrade project, further more can help you to rollout if necessary the Upgrade.
For Upgrade Projects the SAP Solution Manager supports both:
- restarting an upgrade project
- perform an upgrade project based on an implementation project
The scope of support for these upgrade-relevant activities with the SAP Solution Manager is the same as for an implementation project, plus some upgrade-specific functions:
a comparison tool which identifies release-specific changes or deletions, if you used SAP reference contents
an upgrade report which gets the upgrade-relevant configuration settings which you must adjust in upgrade or delta customizing, automatically, based on a connection to the target release system
Upgrade-relevant contents are also delivered with the SAP Solution Manager, as an upgrade roadmap and upgrade-specific business scenario and process contents. At the end of the upgrade project, changed or inserted business scenarios and processes and system information are put in a customer-specific repository (Solution Directory), where they are available for production processing.

  • How does new Label Management feature works in Aruba Central?

    Q: How does new Label Management feature works in Aruba Central?
    A: Central provides a standard web-based interface that allows you to configure and monitor multiple Aruba Wi-Fi networks.
    With as many as devices that central could manage, searching a specific device or set of devices becomes difficult. This is where "Label management" feature of Aruba Central helps out.
    With "Label Management", administrator can create various labels in advance and use them to assign it to different IAPs or Switches as required.  Once the labels are assigned, user can use the label string to search a device or group of devices in central.
    Follow these steps create various set of labels in "Label Management":
    Login to Aruba Central and click on "All Groups"
    In the left-menu, under "Maintenance" select "Label Management"
    Click on "Create Label" button and create as many labels you require as per the environment and ease of use.

    Hi,
    If you love working with Muse, BC would enhance it  as it completes Muse. WYSIWYG Design area in BC would give you the ultimate convenience designing the pages or templates.
    I would suggest that you create a Trial site in BC via Muse and go through the modules available. Modules are not synced with Muse but they will be rendered if you specify them with a correct reference ID's (as detailed here kb.worldsecuresystems.com/134/bc_1345.html) in Muse and then Publish.
    Business Catalyst is far more than a hosting provider. Business Catalyst is an online business platform, with email marketing, customer response management, eCommerce, forums, analytics, and more. Over time, Adobe Muse will grow to expose more of the power with Business Catalyst.
    Adobe Muse allows you to publish your temporary website to Adobe Business Catalyst at no charge for a 30-day trial period. This gives you the opportunity to send a live URL to your client for review. All sites in trial mode on Business Catalyst will include the Business Catalyst domain, example http://website.businesscatalyst.com. If you decide to take the site "live" by paying for the monthly hosting, you can transfer your own domain and remove the .businesscatalyst.com subdomain. Or you can export the HTML and host the final site with a hosting provider of your choice.
    You can have different users being an Admin on one site depending upon the permissions you set for them. + much more..
    Publishing sites to BC via Muse is seamless. So I recommend to test the trial publish. That way you can judge it best upto your expertise. Also check http://tv.adobe.com/watch/introducing-business-catalyst/getting-started-with-business-cata lyst-and-muse-creating-and-publishing-sites/ for more help.
    Hope that helps!

  • How does Solution Manager compare to BMC Patrol?

    Has anyone done a comparison of Solution Manager versus Patrol when it comes to monitoring OS system level parameters? We are in the process of deciding which tool to use on a new SAP AIX implementation. We like that Solution Manager comes with the SAP application so no extra costs. But we have used Patrol on other mid-range systems with much success. All thoughts and comments would be appreciated.

    Hello Denis,
    I am curently on the same situaton as yours few years ago. I gonna implement PATROL, but I just wonder if this valuable to centralise all the monitoring via Sap solution Manager or to customize all PATROL alerts in all SAP backends.

  • How does object memory management works?

    Hi all,
    I'm having a lot of problems with memory which seems not to be released when using objects (on Oracle 9i 9.0.1.1.1). I've prepared the following test:
    create type t_test as object (
    id number,
    member function FunctTest(TBL IN CHAR, expand IN CHAR) return varchar2
    ) not final;
    create or replace type body t_test as
    MEMBER FUNCTION FunctTest(TBL IN CHAR, expand IN CHAR) RETURN varchar2 IS
    BEGIN
    return NULL;
    END FunctTest;
    end;
    create or replace function FunctTest2(TBL IN CHAR, expand IN CHAR) RETURN varchar2 IS
    BEGIN
    return NULL;
    END FunctTest2;
    create table tab_test of t_test;
    insert into tab_test values(1);
    commit;
    As you can see, I create a simple type with a member function, and a schema function who does the same (nothing, in this case). Then I call the two functions with the following PL/SQL blocks:
    declare i integer;
    t varchar2(4000);
    ob t_test;
    begin
    select value(a) into ob from tab_test a where a.id=1;
    for i in 1..5000 loop
    select ob.FunctTest('A','S') into t from dual;
    end loop;
    end;
    declare i integer;
    t varchar2(4000);
    begin
    for i in 1..5000 loop
    select FunctTest2('A','S') into t from dual;
    end loop;
    end;
    If you run these blocks with Task Manager opened (I use W2000) on server console, you can see how memory usage grows very fast with the first block, and how it doesn't change with the second one.
    The memory isn't released till the session is alive.
    I'm trying to develop an object application, but these memory leaks are making me crazy.
    Geoff, does release 2 solve some of these problems?
    In particular, please, do I need to free by myself temporary objects (these ones referenced in PL/SQL blocks)? In which way? I haven't found anything about object memory management in documentation...
    As always,

  • Newbie: How does the security manager work with EJB?

    Hi,
    I am new to J2EE and do not seem to grasp how the security manager (or J2EESecurityManager) works with EJB.
    My bean does security-senisitive stuff (like getting the Policy object) and must not do so unless I give it permission in the policy file. So far so good. But the permission will only work if I grant it to ALL code, like:
    grant {
    permission java.security.SecurityPermission "getPolicy";
    Beans do not seem to have a protection domain or code source/certificates attached to it. so I cannot say
    grant "/file/sw/ejb/myejb.jar" {
    permission java.security.SecurityPermission "getPolicy";
    Why is that (probably because beans run remote)? But more importantly, how DO I set permissions based on which bean it is?

    If I add that directory as the codebase to
    a grant statement any class loaded from there will
    have the specified permission.I thought so, too, and that is why I went digging for the code source of my bean (i.e. where is it deployed, from where is it loaded) but that source is NULL:
    Some program output:
    ==Has security manager: com.sun.enterprise.J2EESecurityManager
    ==Code source is ProtectionDomain (null <no certificates>)
    The code seems to have no code source (null) and no signatures (in fact, I also signed my code with the keytool but that certificate did not show here either).
    I am running this against the j2ee server 1.3 -- just experimenting, but it does not go so well. :-)

  • The FTP protocol: How does the AE manage inbound packets?

    I've noticed the following with resect to how the AE handles NAT port forwarding for the FTP protocol.
    1. Forwarding for FTP service seems to only work if the WAN port is 21, e.g. map 21 -> 21 works, 2121 -> 21, does not work (packets seem to be dropped at the AE). However, such a restriction hold with other services such like ssh or openvpn.
    2. When ftp packets are received by the LAN server, they have the IP of the client stripped and arrive at the server with the WAN IP assigned to the AE, as indicated by the logs. Again, other services that we are forwarding to the server arrive with the correct client IP. So this is only an FTP thing.
    The AE seems to do some analysis of incoming packets and treat them differently. One question:
    Why does the Airport Extreme do this, and apparently only for FTP packets?

    I found a workaround by changing the port my FTP server listens to from 21 to 2121. I then set the AE to forward port 21 on the WAN side to 2121 on the LAN side. This allows the server to know what IP the client is connecting from.
    I'm still curious why the AE strips the client's IP when you forward to port 21 on the LAN side.

  • How does BPEL Fault Management Framework gel with ESB Error Handling ?

    I see that BPEL 10.1.3.3 has pretty neat Fault Management Framework (although I have to admit it is not very well advertised).
    The next logical question is: what about ESB ? Would that help in ESB error handling ? I understand that ESB has its own Error Hospital etc.; however, we have to constantly grapple with two distinct paths for any piece of integration functionality (1. ESB 2. BPEL). I guess, all of this will be moot in the 11g timeframe. Still wondering if anyone out there has somehow unified error handling for these two distinct offerings ?

    It's not available in ESB, you have to implement/extend that by your self. Off course in the next release everthing will be better :-)
    But, if you are able to use Oracle AIA (http://edelivery.oracle.com) You could use Oracle AIA Foundation, that has a fault 'hospital' implemented both for BPEL and ESB.

  • How does Get-Info manage ext disk access & permission

    I was having a terrible time today trying to back up my HD to an external drive. I was using SuperDuper. The SD dialog box allowed me to choose 2 of my ext drives as targets. But the drive I preferred was 'greyed out'. I couldn't select.
    So, I thought that perhaps I didn't have read-write permission for it. I pulled up a Get Info dialog box, and this is how it is configured (see below).
    My user name doesn't even appear in the Sharing and Permissions box.  Nor do I see the little check box which asks IGNORE OWNERSHIP.
    I clicked on the little padlock icon and entered my password. But I still couldn't change the configuration. I just wanted to back up to that one disk named 2tb Boot-backup. Nothing more. The drive is a boot drive, incidentally. But I was running the OS on my main HD (iMac).
    Frustrated at this (the Missing Manual didn't help), I gave up and reinstalled Mavericks on that ext drive. It fixed the problem, at the cost of 2 1/2 hours.
    And I'm not any wiser about how Mavericks controls access. Screen shots below tell the story. My User Name does not appear in the Sharing list. Please teach me.  Where is David Pogue when you really need him?

    For a very long time before making my purchase choice, I neurosed about the processing power demands if Aperture. Few folks at MacRumors knew what specs would suffice. I must have exchanged 15 posts over there and learned little.
    At the time I had a 2007 iMac with 6Gb or RAM. I borrowed Aperture from a friend and played with it. Knowing that would I made a computer purchase from the Apple Store, free softeware would come with it. I prefer to be play straight. Not because of fears of the 'software pirate police.' I want the support and documentation.
    By having the actual program loaded in my box, I began paying watching the Aperture Tutorials on the Apple Support website. In the case of Aperture, there is a whole lot to learn. A huge amount. Maybe because it was my first PP and DSLR experience. It took a lot of time to get comfortable.
    Eventually, I discovered more AP tutorials on YouTube. And then, I found the so-called Silver Bullet. The Aperture forumlll. The answer I wanted was neither simple nor straightforward. But I was able to decide on the right Apple machine, with an adequate CPU, GPU and RAM.
    Aperture processes some function in the CPU. It processes others in the GPU. And RAM undergoes heavy pressure only at certain times.  While 'Importing' RAW files from an SD card, the CPU works hard. It is best to have clock speeds of at least 3.2Ghz. Along with the image, Aperture will import the embedded camera preview in Jpeg format. Things go faster if you select to import the file and preview. Regardless, camera previews are small and low resolution. Aperture then favors generating its own hi-res JPEG for use will browsing your library of photos.
    Editing an image, which is called an 'Adjustment' in the program doesn't take nearly as much processing power as one would expect. Aperture is a non-destructive program. The original RAW file is never touched. All the changes are merely tacked on and are reflected on the screen or when saved as 'Versions' only. The version is tiny compared to the master file.  A good metaphor would be baking. You might start out with a Lemon Cake in the oven. But then you put Chocolate frosting on top. The result looks and tastes different. But it is always a Lemon Cake.
    The GPU then takes over. Late generation GPU with at least 1000Mb of video ram, 32-bit color depth would be minimum. The NIVIDEA Geoforce GT 755 satisfies those demands. Though if I ever start playing with Video instead of Sill, I might wish for 64-bit color space.
    I probably have some of the details mixed up. But the fundamentals given are what I heard. At least one of the responders on the Aperture forum was on Apple team that wrote the software. That's all I know, and I'm not trying to get anyone to 'change religions'. SSD ain't going to make my image editing improve. Incidentally, on my iMac, Aperture loads in about 4 seconds.

  • How does Firefox download manager work?

    I was wondering how Firefox Downloads work? Does it use a differnet port? I have wifi at college which is controlled by proxy with username and password. The internet connection is set to cut off at 10:00 PM. But strangely, if we have a download going on Firefox, not any external download managers, the download will carry on even after 10:00pm, which I cannot browse anymore. My friend could download very large file throughout the night, even though we couldn't browse internet.
    Can someone explain why this happens?

    If you are talking about 3.6 versions, Please read this thread and follow TonyE instructions:

  • Does Solution Manager support Service Report for non-abap?

    Does Solution Manager support Service Report for non-abap?
    We can schedule and view reports for ABAP but for all the non-ABAP such as J2EE stack (PORTAL) we can not pull out a report.
    If the answer is yes please let me know where I can get the documentation of how to setup SLA for PORTAL or non-ABAP.
    I found a document on EWA non-abap but non for SLA.

    Hi
    actually i am in task of setting up ewa for portal.
    i had already done with abap components (ewa and sla)
    i stronly believe one of the pre-requiste to get sla is EWA.
    so i think if u can setup ewa for portal then you can get sla too.

  • How does the SecureMind Surveillance Manager work?

    Is there someone who can explain to me how the SecureMind Surveillance Manager works when installed on an ix2?
    I am looking in the share and it has a .jpg file matched with .nrv files. Does this program record video with audio and if the .nrv files are the video/audio how do I view?

    I am sorry, I did not read your reply thoroughly, but I recognize it from one of the online manuals I looked at.
    Because I couldn't figure it out and when the phone technical support couldn't figure it out after remote assisting to troubleshoot and the feature seemed to stop working that day compared to at least having an image of what my camera was viewing; they are sending a replacement where they say I should be able to install up to Lifline 4.01 again but I wouldn't. If the Lifeline that it comes with works with the only 2 other extra features I am interested in using(torrent, cam surveillance) then I should probably not mess with it by upgrading regardless of the system recommendations as I don't see what the difference would be between a recently purchased product and one sent directly from Lenovo.
    Of course I will have to look at the changes between the upgrades of Lifelines to choose exactly what is essential and maybe I will call in to have help on choosing which Lifeline upgrade is proven to work etc.
    The imagers they sent me would not work with my USB drives so I think there may be some problems that need to be addressed or perhaps the desktop storage devices aren't a big seller and lack the attention that they require to have smooth operation by consumers.
    I am very happy of the price though . While packing it getting it ready to ship for when the replacement arrives I couldn't see the RAM. Is that in any way upgradeable or is it soldered to the board?
