How does the remote object connect to the correct host

i have had a small doubt on how the remote reference manages to find the correct host to call the subsequent methods after a sucessful lookup.
given a rebind or bind to the registry, the registry only stores the alias and the remote reference, now imagine a client calling a lookup on the registry would only get the remote reference, and not in which machine the remote object is found.
what i wanted to know is how does the client or atleast the remote reference returned by the registry correctly connects to the machine where the remote object is located. i dont think its stored in the stub bcos the stub is a complie time stuff.
i would be pleased to have a comprehensive answer for this.

The membership in the group communication framework is always accurate and upto date.Up to date to the moment when you check. Not up to date to the moment when you make the RMI call.
i could basically chk if this ip is available in the membership list.Complete waste of time. It doesn't matter what you check ahead of time, you are still trying to predict the future.
And you still have to deal with ConnectException etc from the actual remote method call. And the way you will deal with that in your situation is exactly the same as what you were going to do if your ahead-of-time check failed.
So just catch the exception(s) and deal with the problem there.

  • Why, when I successfully connect to Server 2012 Essentials R2 via Anywhere Access does the Remote Desktop Connection use the self signed certificate for RDP instead of the SSL certificate I installed when I set up access anywhere?

    Scenario:
    Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials
I purchased an SSL Cert from GoDaddy and I managed (after some challenges) to set up Anywhere access to use that new SSL Cert. I to rebooted the server and I am able to login to Anywhere Access vis https (using the SSL certificate) from PC, Mac and iOS.
    So far so good.
The problem I am having is that when I click to launch a remote desktop connection to the server RDP connection wants to use the self signed SSL certificate of the server rather than the SSL Certificate I installed into Anywhere Access. As a result, I get
a security warning like this: "The identity of the remote computer cannot be verified. Do you want to connect anyway?"
The name in the certificate appears as ACME-SERVER.ACMEDOMAIN.local  instead of the SSL Certificate I installed, which is
    remote.acmedomain.com
If I lick to accept, RDP does work fine, it;s just using a self signed certificate. I want it to use the trusted certificate that I purchased and installed.
My guess is that there must be an additional step to tell Anywhere Access that when it generates the RDP session that it should use the cert? OR, is this just how it works?

    Because....
the server does not have a 'trusted' certificate assigned to it.
Only the RDP Gateway has the trusted certificate for the external name.
If you want to remove that error, you have to do one of the following:
Make sure your domain uses a public top level domaim, and get a public trusted certificate for your server.
    So, something like,
    server.domain.publicdomain.com
    Or,
Install that certificate on your remote computer so it is trusted.

  • Using a remote desktop connection with the Macbook pro.

I use the remote desktop connection on the Macbook pro and am unable to exchange info between the mac and the remote connetion windows. For example, if I am writing an email from the remote connection and want to attach a document, photo etc. that I created on the Mac, it just doesn't work. It seems like the Mac and the desktop connection are completely seperated eventhough they are both on the screen in front of me. the systems I use for work are not Apple compatible and will not work on anything other than windows explorer and in my case the remote desk top connection. Any ideas!

  • How to access the remote Objects Without Db_links?

    Hi ,
I want to know how to access the remote objects without db_link.That is i want to access a object in some other server which has different database.

SanjayBala, just so you know that it is possible to create a database link in Oracle to non-Oracle databases in some circumstances. Look up Generic Connectivity aslo know as Heterogenous Services. With 11g Oracle has basically renamed the feature and replaced it with somethinkg named ike DG4ODBC.
I have not spent time studying the details for DB4ODBC but with HS Oracle provided the interface and you had to obtain the necessary ODBC driver on your own. I had Oracle on AIX reading and writing to SQL Server on Windows but the developers chose to write a java program and connect to both via it. On Windows and Linux platforms the necessary ODBC drivers might be available without the requirement to go out and purchase one.
The Oracle Open Gateway product is an advanced version of the above features with drivers for specific non-Oracle databases included like DB2 or Informix.

  • How does a BlackBerry handheld connect to BES for the first time?

How does a Blackberry device connect to BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) for the first time? Is there a risk that a rogue BlackBerry handheld connects to BES?
    Thank you in advance!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
When a BES admin sets up a BB on BES, they configure the unique BB PIN into their BES and also create credentials that are required to actually complete the registration process on the BB. So, while there is no perfect security anywhere, I don't think the risk you are concerned about is high enough to warrant any attention.

I am using Stateless session bean. Can I cache the
reference of the remote objects to this bean ?No, but you can cache the HomeHandle of the Home interface references - that saves you the overhead of JNDI lookups, which are far more "expensive" time-wise than calling the create method to get the Remote implemenation.

Fix failing security tests on BlazeDS/trunk by using a remote object to invalidate the FlexSession at the end of each test method which should cause each test method to run with a new/clean session. It looks like some test methods were leaving some things in a bad state which was causing the next test that ran to fail. These may be legitimate bugs/issues so we should investigate further to see what sequence of events gets things into a bad state but for these tests we want all of the test methods to run in isolation.

In general theory, one now has the Edit button for their posts, until someone/anyone Replies to it. I've had Edit available for weeks, as opposed to the old forum's ~ 30 mins.
That, however, is in theory. I've posted, and immediately seen something that needed editing, only to find NO Replies, yet the Edit button is no longer available, only seconds later. Still, in that same thread, I'd have the Edit button from older posts, to which there had also been no Replies even after several days/weeks. Found one that had to be over a month old, and Edit was still there.
Do not know the why/how of this behavior. At first, I thought that maybe there WAS a Reply, that "ate" my Edit button, but had not Refreshed on my screen. Refresh still showed no Replies, just no Edit either. In those cases, I just Reply and mention the [Edit].
Also, it seems that the buttons get very scrambled at times, and Refresh does not always clear that up. I end up clicking where I "think" the right button should be and hope for the best. Seems that when the buttons do bunch up they can appear at random around the page, often three atop one another, and maybe one way the heck out in left-field.
While I'm on a role, it would be nice to be able to switch between Flattened and Threaded Views on the fly. Each has a use, and having to go to Options and then come back down to the thread is a very slow process. Jive is probably incapable of this, but I can dream.

I have BT Infinity at home with the BT modem connected to the phone line and then to a BThub which delivers the wif signal. I have purchased an airport extreme to improve wi fi strength if how do I connect up to hub it states connect modem to WAN on back of Airport Extreme.
Instructions do not mention connection to BT Hub and the BT modem has only one output which you dicsonnect from Hub and connect to airport extreme leaving. Once you do this Hub has no signal.
    How do I rectify
    Paul

you can also set up the Airport extreme to extend the wireless by hitting the wireless tab in the airport menu then click the drop down menu to select extend
Apple's "extend" function is a proprietary setting that was designed to only work with other Apple routers.
It would be extremely unlikely that this setting would work with a BT product, or any other manufacturer's product for that matter.
But, I haven't tested this with a BT product...and I suppose anything is possible.
Still, I would be extremely surprised if this worked.
The AirPort Extreme might "join" the BT network if you try this......but the AirPort does not provide any additional wireless signal coverage when it "joins" a wireless network. In fact, it really does nothing when it "joins" a network except enable the USB port.

  • Creating remote objects and passing the retrieved data to modules

I found at this Adobe tutorial a nice "RemoteService" class that  creates a RemoteObject and contains the functions for handling the  result and fault events. If I wanted to use this approach, how could I  pass the data from the result handler to interfaces that modules from  the main application could use?
I could put the RemoteService/RemoteObject in the modules, but (in my  opinion- and I could be wrong) the best design seems to be using the  remote calls in the main app and passing the data along to the modules.
Ultimately, I would like to know what the "best practices" are for creating remote objects and passing the retrieved data to modules
    Thanks!

  • HT201441 How will the device get connected to the internet if it's locked and is wifi only?

My daughter left her purse in a fitting room briefly and once she realized this, it was gone. In her purse was her iPad mini wifi only. I am curious how would the iPad get connected to the internet if it is locked? I have find my iPhone activated and since it is a iOS 7 device I put in lost mode and set it to display my phone # and a message for a reward. I am guessing it would have to be wiped clean somehow and re activated to be signed into to get hooked to the internet. Am I on the right track that once this is done and it gets connected to the internet the device will display this message? Any comments will help thank you.

Thank you for your imput Winston. But how is the IPad going to connect when you physically have to put in the wifi password for the wifi? I guess the iPad would be able to access a unsecured wifi? I also read what I believe is conflicting with your statement about iOS 7 that you can send the remote erase and still be able to track? I havent done this yet I want to be certain that if I erase it remotely I can still track. Thanks again for your time.

  • How to create an object alive all the time on a server side

    Hi,
I work on an Intranet with J2EE technologies. I need an object to do several tasks in background on the server side. Like start scheduled processes on a database and files, stocked on the server. What is the way to do this. I thought to use the JNDI by declaring the object in the Deployement Descriptor, and to manage a timer within.
I don't know if this works.
Anyway, my question is how to create an object on the server that is ALIVE ALL THE TIME and visible by the other objects running in the same VM.
    Thank's.

This may not be the correct design, but I had success doing the following:
    1. Create an Stateless EJB that does a task, i.e. update a database table.
    2. Create a subclass of java.util.TimerTask to call the EJB methods.
    3. Kick off the TimerTask from a servlet.init method.
Seems to work pretty well to do scheduled tasks, such as refreshing lookup tables. I would imagine the same could be done with an MBean, but I haven't had time to fully understand JMX yet. (It's on the list).
As for event driven procedures, that can be done through a servlet interface.
You may also wish to review a scheduler here: http://www.part.net/quartz.html. Note, I have NOT even looked at it yet, so I have no clue if it's any good. But, it is on my list of tools to evaluate (that's a long list) someday when my head's above water. Have a look, and caveat emptor.
    Hope this helps,

  • Can we cache the remote object?

    hi,
can we cache the remote object?
is this right way of doing?
    please suggest me
    regards
    crr

Yes, caching EJBHome, EJBObject, and Remote business references is fine. They can also
be portably stored in an HttpSession. However, when caching in the web tier you must still
be careful to prevent concurrent access to the same stateful session bean. The fact that
remote references to stateful session beans can be cached does not guarantee they can
be accessed by more than one client at a time.

  • Is the Remote Object always a singleton?

    Hi,
Using .Net Remoting we can export a Remote Objects in three different ways:
    1. Singleton: Same instance of a Server-side object is used by all the clients for all the requests.
    2. SingleCall: Whenever a new call is received, a new instance of the Server-side object is created and reference is passed to the client. Therefore, for each call to the server, the client gets a new instance of the object.
    3. Client Activation: In this, the Client requests to the server for creating a new instance which can be used for multiple calls. The instance activated by a client is not used by other clients. Client-Activated objects can store state information between method calls for its specific client.
Do we have this options in RMI or the Remote Object must always be a Singleton?
What I'm looking for is a way to create one instance of the Remote Object (in the server side) to each client that connects to a server.
    thx

Do we have this options in RMI1 and 3 are available. 2 is not.
or the Remote Object must always be a Singleton? No.
What I'm looking for is a way to create one instance of the Remote Object (in the server side) to each client that connects to a server. It's as simple as 'return new MyRemoteObject(...);'.
    For example:
    public interface Login extends Remote
      public Session login(String username, ...) throws RemoteException;
    public interface Session extends Remote
      // your client API here
public class LoginImpl extends UnicastRemoteObject implements Login
public Session login(String username, ...) throws RemoteException
// validate username etc. If OK return a session.
        return new SessionImpl();
public class SessionImpl extends UnicastRemoteObject implements Session
// your client API implementation here, also all the server-side state belonging to that client session
}Note that this is as secure as the login() method. By type safety, nobody can execute Session methods until they have logged in.
I'm deleting your two other threads.

  • How Does EJB 2.0 Specification Change the BC4J?

    Hi,
I had read the while paper of BC4J thoroughly. The following statement interested me:
"As Oracle9iAS, WebLogic, and other J2EE application server vendors begin to rollout complete support for the new EJB 2.0 specification in the first half of 2002, a new release of the BC4J framework will be released which includes support for the new local entity beans. This work entails enhancing our lightweight, local entity classes to support the necessary interface to be lightweight EJB 2.0 Local Entity Beans. ...."
I have searched all the documents about BC4J, but I couldn't find anything more about "How Does EJB 2.0 Specification Change the BC4J?"
I think the "Local EJB Entity Beans" is similar with BC4J DAO. So is there someone who can tell me how does EJB 2.0 Specification change the BC4J?
    Any help would be appreciated!
    James

We support using local CMP entity beans as your persistence layer for your entity objects, but as it adds an extra layer, it's turned out (in all honesty) to not be that popular a feature.
The performance offered by the simpler BC4J entity object (plain old java class) is fine, and the notion of using simple java beans for your model is widely recognized as a fine option for J2EE applications.
For example, check out Rod Johnson's book called "Expert one-to-one: J2EE Design and Development" which covers this subject excellently.

    I keep getting same error....
Any idea what I might be missing ?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Firstly please let us know by which method you have setup RDS role. You can have more advantage and feature when you will install with Standard deployment instead of Quick start deployment. So if you have setup with quick start option then you can try installing
with standard type and check the result.
In addition, please check SQL server database is properly configured for RDS server. Also check that domain controller properly communicates. Kindly go through below thread for more information.

Desktop Connection Broker Client failed to redirect the user domain\username. Error: NULL
