How far dose the first generation's iPad iOS  updates go?

I cannot download  some of the new apps because my iPad has to have the latest iOS.
When I go to download the latest iOS it states that I have the latest version.
So , my question is : How far dose the first generation's iPad iOS  updates go?
How can I upgrade to the very latest iOS?
I also get knocked off from websites a lot.
Thanks in Advance.

5.1.1.

  • I have the first generation iPad, how do I get the software update iOS 6?

I have the first generation iPad and I'm trying to download apps but my device keeps telling me to download the iOS software update 6. When I go to updates in my settings it's saying my device is up to date with iOS 5.1.1, but it's saying I need the iOS 6. How do I upgrade my device if it's not showing iOS update 6?

The first generation iPad cannot be updated past iOS 5.1.1
You may still be able to get compatible versions fo the Apps by downloading the App to iTunes on a computer or another device that does support the current  App version using the same Apple Id you have on your iPad. With that done you can follow these instructions from your iPad to get a compatible version:
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app

    Hi Manaka,
We are not currently aware of any price reduction of $100.00 on the current Ipad. Please check the Verizon Wireless website for current pricing and discounts as pricing is subject to change without notice. I am providing a link for further information.

  • How can I connect the first generation ipod to macbook air?

How can I connect the first generation ipod to macbook air or macbook pro? Using an adapter?

    macbook air
The only theoretical solution is an USB ExpressCard adapter and FireWire ExpressCard. I don't know if anyone's actually attempted it.
    macbook pro
A FireWire 400 to 800 cable or adapter, also known as 6 pin to 9 pin.

  • Can the first generation iPad handle iOS 5

I know with Mac computers after awhile the models cannot support the newest OS. Is this the same with iPads yet and if so can the first generation iPad handle iOS 5?

as an owner of a first gen iPad running iOS 5.1, I can tell you with absolute certainty, that the first gen iPad is completely capable of running iOS 5. I have been running iOS 5 since the day it was released with no problems.

  • HT4972 Can the first generation iPad upload to iOS 5?

Could the first generation of the iPad upgrade to iOS 5 and still have all the apps because I got some of the apps on a special deal but in order to download this other app it needs iOS 5 and I want to keep the rest of the apps I have or else I'll have to start all over.......

Yes. The iPad 1 can go to 5.1.1.

  • I just bought an ipad 2, but the packaging doesnt say ipad 2. have they given me the first generation?

I just bought an iPad 2, but the packaging doesn't say iPad 2. have they given me the first generation?

I don't think that the box has the gen number on it. My first gen iPad box has a picture of the screen covering the front of the box, whereas the 2nd gen box just has an angled view across the iPad in the middle of the box cover (there is a picture of the box here) - it doesn't say 'iPad 2' on it, just 'iPad'
If you open the box then you can definitely tell by whether it has cameras on the front and back - there are pictures of the front and back of the iPad 2 on this page : http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

  • Opinions about the first generation iPad?

    Hi-
I've been considering purchasing the first generation iPad vs. spending more on the iPad 2.  I don't think I would be an iPad "power user" - basically just want one so that I can check email and surf the web.  Who's using the first generation iPad and what do you think of it with iOS5?  Any issues I should be aware of?
    Thanks!

The first generation iPad can only be found used at this point... I have no problem using mine with iOS5, but others have complained about it.
Keep your eye on March 7 - Apple has announced a "media event" featuring a picture of the iPad which could (nobody here could say for sure) be the introduction of a 3rd generation iPad. If so, it is possible that the iPad2 price will be lowered, or that it would be a good time to get a used iPad1 or 2 from someone looking to sell their old model and buy a new one.

  • Upgrade to iOS 6 from first generation of iPad

I have iOS 5.1.1 on my first generation of iPad and have not received the notification to upgrade to iOS 6 as I have for my iPhone. How can I upgrade my iPad if no options are available so far? Will this option come later?

    http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/
Look at the bottom of that page for a graphical representation of all the iOS devices that will upgrade to iOS 6.

  • What is the oldest generation of iPad that will still allow me to run IOS8 and allow for future IOS updates?

Buying a used iPad... what is the oldest generation of iPad that will still allow me to run IOS8 and allow for future IOS updates?
    Thanks

An iPad 2 will do it...for awhile. Realize that it's seemingly on it's last legs as far as iOS updates go and performance will not be great enough for today's demanding games. Also realize that a big part of running apps smoothly is how much system RAM (the memory area that the apps actually run in) the device has. The iPad 2 has 512 MB which is adequate for most apps but not for some. The iPads above the iPad 2 all have 1 GB of system RAM and the iPad Air 2 has 2 GB.
The time will come when the iPad 2 can no longer be updated past a certain iOS version (as the iPad 1 is) so it will be more difficult to keep up with apps that you want to be using. This will eventually happen to ALL devices so you'll have to judge if you want to be at the tail-end of iOS updates or at least have a bigger buffer with a newer iPad.

  • How far will the extreme reach and how many users can be on there at the same time?

How far will the airport extreme reach and how many users can be on there at the same time?

Last question first, since that is the easy one......approximately 50 (fifty) users for wireless depending on how active each user might be.
The first question is much more difficult, as distance is not really the issue with wireless.....obstructions are the issue.
A wireless signal can easily travel 300 feet or more with no obstructions in the signal path.
But, a typical wall of sheetrock or wallboard in a home will absorb....on average....15-20% of the wireless signal. Brick or adobe will obviously absorb much more. A ceiling....because it is thicker....will absorb about 25-35% of the signal.
So, if the wireless signal must pass through several walls and a ceiling, there won't be much, if any, of the signal left....even though the distance that the signal travels is not great...for example, 20-25 feet.
Other wireless networks around you at the neighbors can also affect the relative strength of the wireless signal.
The bottom line....locate the AirPort Extreme where wireless devices will receive a signal with the least amount of obstructions in the signal path. Your actual performance cannot be predicted in advance. You will not know how well the AirPort Extreme works for you until you try it out in your home.
If you find that the signal does not reach as far as needed,  you will need to add additional "extenders", like an AirPort Express to provide more signal coverage.

How to get the first word in a sentence to auto-capitalize
    Anwar

something to look forward to then, because we get used not to use our shift button any more, since iPhone and iPad do it for us. entourage and other ms stuff do it. pages does it too now (put it on in the auto-correct in preferences). bizarre however some loose the capitalization when you copy the text. pages to stickies or mail does not. that's good !
