How fast internet needed for AirPlay

I am thinking of buying Apple TV for Airplay Mirroring from my MacBook Pro and iPod Touch 5th gen purposes only. Like i want to play games on my mac but have them also on the TV on a bigger screen. But my internet connection is only 25 KB/s. Once a month it is 200-400KB/s, but that only happens for 4GB of data which i use pretty quickly. Please dont tell me how crap internet it is, i already know. I know that it is wayyy to slow for interent streaming, but when its on a local network only about 15 meters away, will i still be able to have no-lag streaming to Apple TV from my Mac? My MacBook Pro is not Retina it is from 2010. And my iPod is iPod Touch 5th gen. If it is too slow, i will have wasted $110, so please dont just guess give an educated answer. Thanks.

You don't need an Internet connection to use AirPlay or AirPlay Mirroring. You just need a router to connect the iPod touch, iPad, iPhone or Mac to the Apple TV, but it doesn't use Internet, so don't worry about the Internet speed.
If you have got a 2010 MacBook Pro, note that it's not compatible with AirPlay Mirroring, which needs an Early 2011 or newer MacBook Pro. To mirror your MacBook Pro's screen onto your Apple TV, use an application like AirParrot or Beamer

  • How much RAM needed for the DB box

    Hi,
Can someone share with me the technical way to do calculation of how much of RAM needed for a new Linux box with estimation of 500 users. I hope this calculation can also allow me to breakdown how much MEMORY needed for each session.
Please recommend any site that I can refer to if any. TQ.

My project start with Oracle 9i R2 (9206) on Linux (not yet confirm on the platform and etc). Just assume I will use Linux Red Hat Adv Sever latest version.
Hence how many GB of memory for the box is sufficient to handle 500 connections. Pls guide me the formula to derive the calculation. TQ

HOw many subalters needed for to find a number in 1000-2000,2001-3000,3001-4000

    Hi
    3k to 4k means 3001 to 4000?
Assuming this is true you need 3 sub alerters. Use the between operator to compare your values.

  • Help! Fast Internet only for short while after power cycling of AEBS

The Charter Communication tech came out to check why we weren't getting the advertised 20meg speed. Well, the speed out of the modem is ~19meg and if I plug in the laptop directly to the brand new Airport Extreme router (firmware 7.4.1), we do get the fastest speed.
I ditched the setup I had with dual band separate networks, since we don't actually transfer files between computers much. I just want fast Internet for downloads/uploads.
I have the network setup on auto bands and auto channels (and I have tried setting the channels manually). We don't have many neighbors so there isn't a lot of interference that I can tell.
If I unplug the router and plug it back in--then the wireless network speed is fast ~19 megs. However, after less than 30 min. the network bogs down and becomes 5-7megs. Then if I power cycle, it goes right back up to 19megs.
    Why????

  • Internet needed for setup?

hi, I have just purchased a iPod touch and want to set up and begin the charging process, although, I do not yet have internet in my house, does anybody know if an internet connection is needed for the initial setup? cheers, andrew webber

    Hey Andrew,
The iPod touch requires three things for initial setup:
~ The internet, Wifi/Direct to find the connection to Youtube for youtube.app.
~ You to be signed into a valid iTunes store account through iTunes.
~ iTunes is required to be open.
You can activate your iPod Touch without the internet, although the youtube application will not function until plugged into a PC/MAC with access to the internet. You will recieve multiple messages when trying to connect, which will include messages like 'cannot connect' 'Failure to contect. Contect to iTunes'.
    Hope this helps

[internet] <-->  [TMG]   <--> [Lync edge]
                                                 [Lync front end]
is it correct to buy this two cert. (then what's the function for)
    Cert 1 for TMG
    Lyncrproxy.abc.com (for
    Reverse Proxy???)
    Meet.abc.com (for web conference)
    Dailin.abc.com (for phone??)
    Lyncweb.abc.com (for ???)
    Lyncdiscover.abc.com (for Mobility client setup)
    Cert 2 for Lync edge
    Sip.abc.com (for SIP Access)
Lyncwebconf.abc.com (for Web Conferencing Edge service)
    Lyncav.abc.com (for A/V service)
    Thanks

You can use one cert across the Edge and Reverse Proxy as follows:-
sip.abc.com - Lync Access (use as subject name and assign to Edeg Access) (Edge)
Lyncweb.abc.com - For distribution Group and addressbook service (TMG)
dialin.abc.com - webconferencing dialin URL (TMG)
meet.abc.com - Web conferencing meet URL (TMG)
Lyncwebconf.abc.com - Web Conferencing mnedia (Edge)
    lyncdiscover.abc.com - mobility (Edge)
The simplest way of requesting this cert is from the Lync Deployment Wizard on the Lync Edge Server. Be sure to marek the request as exportable so the cert can be exported from Edge and imported to TMG.

  • Fast internet provider for rural area using older Mac

I have an iBook G4. Mac OSX10.5.8. I live in a rural area where there are no cell towers close by and dsl isn't an option. Which satellite internet provider would be most effective (fastest, most consistent with downloads) for my older Mac? I also have an Acer laptop, much newer. Would answer to question be the same for both laptops?

There are literally dozens of services on the Internet that provide ISP services comparisons. One, for example, is the Internet Provider Directory. I would suggest trying several to see if they concur for your particular area.

  • Apple TV needs Restart for Airplay especially after resuming from Sleep Mode

    1. I always have to restart my Apple TV for Airplay when I resume it from Sleep Mode. Neither my MAC not my PC nor my iPhone/iPad can connect to Airplay if it's not retsarted. I did a complete Factory Reset of Apple TV thinking it would be the best way of troubleshooting but in vein. Any help/suggestion/tips from anybody please?
    2. Also - Does Apple TV needs internet always for Airplay? I guess that should work on the LAN even if there is no internet connectivity, Correct?

  • How to design model for staging layer.

    Hi expert,
what is the rule when design staging layer? such as how much layer needed for staging? and what objects used in staging? why different layers needed for staging .etc.?

    Hi,
Please have a look at SAP Help - Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) for basic information around layers and architecture. Moreover, please have a look at my blog Layered, Scalable Architecture (LSA) from an Implementation Perspective - Overview where you can find several "accelerators" to facilitate your implementation.

  • How can calculate Bandwidth for ACS packet

    Dear All !
My network : AS5400 at remote site sent ACS information (only VoIP Accounting information: CDR-Call detail record) to Center site via IP WAN link (512k).
How can I know how much Bandwidth need for ACS packets/ 1 call ?
Anyone help me some idea to calculate this BW
    Thansk so much

    Hi ,
There are many bandwidth monitor available that you can set up on acs sever. This will give you idea how much traffic is received by acs during the particular call.
Also you can try sniffing acs port to get an rough idea about the traffic generated.

  • How fast does a macbook battery usualy drain?

I'm just curious how fast is typical for a macbook battery to drain each time you use it. I got a replacement batter b/c my old one was a dud. This one has drained 10% (100% to 90%) in about 35-40 minutes (constant use). I'm not saying that's abnormal, I'm just curious what normal is.
    Gracias!
P.S. Screen is turned on medium light and bluetooth is off (however, wireless is on).

That sounds good. If your battery drains like that you could get 4 or 5 Hours out of it. If you take good care of it you should have no problems. It is OK to leave your battery hooked to the charger most of the time. The only time I unhook mine from the charger is when I calibrate. Have you calibrated your batteryyet? You should calibrate every two months or so to keep the battery fully functioning. If you use your MacBook infrequently, it’s best to re-calibrate the battery at least once a month.

you will have to configure the express to create a wireless network but you do not need a connection to the internet.

  • I need Internet Explorer for my MBP.  How can I get this?

I need Internet Explorer for my MBP.  How can I get this?

You can't — at least not if you want to run it in the Mac OS. If you have Winidows installed on your Mac, then of course you can run the Windows version of IE, but the Mac version hasn't been updated since June 2003 and is unsupported by Microsoft. It's very insecure, it can't handle a lot of current web sites, and it may not run at all in recent OS X versions. It was lousy in 2003, and it can't have gotten any better while the world was passing it by.
If there's a web site you want to access that says it requires IE, complain to its webmaster about the benighted design of the site. No responsible web designer codes sites for just one browser any more. Every web site should be tested and should work well with a large variety of browsers — IE, Firefox and Chrome at a bare minimum — and every site owner should insist that their designer(s) adhere to that "best practice."
