My iphone froze so I turned it off and turned it back on again. Now it will not get past the iphone logo. I have tried to reset but it has been stuck on the apple logo again for almost 30 minutes. Help!

    Morning piasalady,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
You can place the device into recovery mode and attempt to restore the device again.
For more information on this, take a look at this article:

  • HT4623 how long will take to install the new update on my iphone, it has been at the same % for a hour.

How long does it take to install the new iphone update, my iphone is been stuck at the same % for over a hour.

The update should not take more than 5 minutes to download and update.
I would recommended pressing on the sleep/wake button for a few seconds untill you see the 'slide to shut down' bar. Shut the device down and try again.

  • How long will laptop be in the shop?

    Hello,
I have a mid-2010 15 inch macbook pro. For a long time now I have been having this issue with the laptop, whereby it will freeze if the video card or graphics card or whatever is taxed too hard. The display goes black immediately after some action (attempting to crop a large image in photoshop, scrolling quickly through images, doing something on an external monitor) and this action is usually something that would make the computer work harder than what a normal person would be doing on a day-to-day basis. If sound is playing while the computer freezes, then the last half-second or so of the sound track repeats ad infinitum, and there is nothing that can be done to bring the computer out of this state except for a hard restart of the system. Over the past year I have tried many things...closing the lid and opening it, waiting for a long time, pressing any number of button combinations from online suggestion forums, resetting the ram or whatever else you reset on the system, trust me...there is no way to make this issue stop happening.
The problem started perhaps one year ago, but was very seldom and did not occur with any alarming frequency. I would estimate that the computer froze maybe once or twice in a month - it was seldom enough that it took me a few months to begin noticing any correlation in what was causing the issue. Over the past year, the problem has grown, very slowly, and as more time passes the number of actions that cause the problem multiply. Six months ago I would maybe see it happen once a week. Three months ago perhaps twice a week. Now, it happens every day and I can reliably force the issue to occur if I just open a large image in photoshop and attempt to quickly do many things to it in a row until the computer blacks out.
I have not sent the laptop in to be fixed because I NEED this laptop. I am a self-employed residential designer and my work hinges on having access to Photoshop, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and many other graphics programs. However, the issue has now grown so that I am unable to work on this laptop...the amount of time I spend resetting the machine every time I overtax the graphics just makes it impossible to get anything done, so I now must send the machine in to be fixed.
I just would like some reliable estimates from people here who may have some idea of how long I will be without my machine. I do not trust the people in the store because they obviously have a bias and ulterior motives to get my business, they will most likely not give me an accurate answer. Every day without my laptop is a day without income. I apologize if this post is longer than necessary, my thought was that in order to give me an accurate time frame for repair, you would need a thorough description of the problem. Thank you in advance.

Hi and Welcome to Apple Support Communities,
Well, there's no defined turn around time with MacBook Pro repairs however, must will agree in this forum that repairs can take about 1-5 business days to be completed. All depends on how serious is your issue and what component needs to be replaced.
As for your black screen issue it seems that you are suffering from the well-known Black Screen bug issue in the mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro. This issue has no other solution than to swap the Logic Board according to this Apple article. To determine whether your computer is suffering from the issue you need to go to the Apple Store and set up Genius Bar Appointment. Ask the Genius to run the "Mid 2010 MacBook Pro GPU Stress Test" it shoudlappear on the list of available tests when they connect your computer to the diagnostic servers. The test will determine whether you qualify for a free repair. If you do, they will either take the computer right away or set up another repair appointment that best suits your needs. If you are not covered by AppleCare prepare to fight off the obstructions that Apple will put to get you to pay the $600+ logic board repair, its just how they work.
Hope this helps and best of luck!
Please do not hesitate to ask further questions...

  • How Long Will Arch last?

Hi, my question here is not to ridicule (or otherwise designed to offend anyone) but one of concern. Many distributions have a viable economic model which helps ensure that the distro can survive (Fedora is one prime example). The fact that Fedora has the backing of Red Hat means that it is almost always asured funding. Ubuntu is also moving in this general direction (although their model does not seem as reliable as Red Hat's yet.) What gurrantee do we have that Arch can last for many decades to come? The Arch devs are real people with real jobs. As far as I know they do not actually get and money from Arch Linux. What sustains Arch ( pays for servers etc.) Is it simply donations? Can Arch survive soley off of donations?
What are your thoughts and ideas do you have on how to make Arch a self sustaining distro while also keeping it free? Finally if Arch falls apart what would you do?
THIS IS HYPOTHETICAL THIS IN NO MEANS IMPLIES THAT ARCH IS GOING UNDER ANY TIME SOON!
( I would also like to take this time to conragulate the Arch devs for coming this far and thank them for all their work it is much appreciated.)

Gullible Jones wrote:... There's also Unununium (no kernel, damned if I know how!) ...
Read the FAQ (Introduction page) for more info about Unununium:
    http://unununium.org/introduction
    Something interesting:
On what platforms does Unununium run?
The latest plan is to implement Unununium as a Linux userspace process. Linux is a stable, available, well documented program which eliminates most of the mundane, uncreative aspects of usual OS development such as writing hardware drivers. It also provides an easy mode of execution, with a developed debugger such as gdb, and fast boot times, since there is no need for a full hardware reboot. This makes development much easier.
Running on Linux has disadvantages as well. Probably most significantly, some things are slower. For a slower speed in execution, we get a faster speed in development. Some day it would be nice to reduce overhead, but that's something that will wait until there is something running.
For some reason or another, this choice of platform leads people to question if Unununium can really be an OS. Of course, it really depends on how "OS" is defined. Unununium is an environment and a design common to all programs which depend on it, and in this sense might be considered an OS.

  • How long do printheads last on the HP T520?

I am not looking for what HP is saying, I would like to know how long they last from consumers who own the HP T520. I recently purchased this printer and I am wondering at what time I should replace them. Thanks!

This forum is focused on consumer level products.  For the Designjet you may have better results posting in the HP DesignJet forum here, that is where the DesignJet experts can be found.

  • How long will it last before i need to replace my air

I want a macbook pro or air but im consired i will get one and it will last a few years and then i will have to replace the battery an thats going to cost me more mommy.

Apple used to have replaceable batteries and I generally needed to replace them after 18-20 months at a cost of about $100. My unibody MacBookPro is 3 years old and the original battery still has nearly 90% of its original capacity. Apple's claim of these batteries having 3-4 times the lifespan of the older batteries seems to be holding true, at least for me.
The new batteries aren't user replaceable, geek speak for you'll void the warranty if you do it yourself. But based on my experience even AppleCare will expire before the battery needs replacing and the replacement is a simple job. These batteries are running in the $120-$140 depending on your source.

  • Liquid spill, over a year later computer works... how long will it last?

My boyfriend spilled Mt. Dew on my first gen Macbook a little over a year ago.
We took it to PeachMac and they said it would be around $500 to repair the logic board.
Since the computer would still come on I decided to look around for any other possible fixes.
My hard drive was corrupt so I erased it and reinstalled OS X Snow Leopard.
It's working just like new (and I cleaned the gunk from under the keys).
It kinda stinks though, this computer was in a closet for over a year and a simple erase/install was all it needed.
I just wanted to know if this fix will last, or will the spill catch up to the computer relatively soon?

    Hi,
That's a tough call. But if you're doing the basics, and you aren't frustrated by its current performance, you can expect to keep the PowerBook working for the life of a new battery (maybe 1-2 years), so in my opinion it's worth it. This is in comparison to the cost of buying a new Mac, and they're far from cheap.
If you specifically want to know about the life of the hardware, your system will likely be problem-free with the hard drive being the most likely part to fail (replacement cost ~$100 plus installation). If you leave the laptop on a desk, it's less likely to have hardware problems than if you tote it around. If you carry it, it will probably develop cosmetic case dings.
Your display should be fine; I replaced the display in my PowerBook with an even older one, and it's still fine. RAM rarely fails.

  • How much will it cost for the iPhone 5c alone without no plan ?

Hey I was wondering if you can buy the iPhone alone without A contract from the apple store

Click on the store link above and look it up.
FYI, Apple has nothing to do with the contract, that is between the user and the cell carrier.

  • How to remove a password from an iphone 4s with IOS 8.0 and screen with n

My phone broke, it wouldn't turn on at all. My service provider couldn't even try to turn it on because of the 2 small cracks that are both under an inch. I ordered the screens, watched a video on how to replace the screens. I did everything right I thought, I plugged it in and it turned on. I got so excited then realized the screen doesn't respond to my finger, or anything. My home and lock button do not work so I can't restart it that way! I have a password on there so I can't just plug it in to iTunes and reboot it from when I backed it up. I need help.

Well, normally, people set a passcode.   But if you want to remove it, that's fine.
Setttings - Passcode - Enter your passcode - Turn Passcode Off
    That's it.

  • How long does it last

I have a 2008 Mac Pro that i bought when it came out and it is still in perfect condition. It has 8 cores, 8gb ram, 8800gt video card 3tb hd. at the end of this year it will be three years old. I use it for final cut pro and other things. about how long will it last
    -it is in perfect condition
-has a very stable power supply
    -never had one problem yet
-still edits blue ray video stable
should i upgrade this year or next
    thanks

I am still answering queries about Macs discontinued before the turn of the century. The Hardware will last a good long time. You may have to replace a memory module ( FBDIMMs run Hot) or a Hard drive along the way.
The software you are running today will do the jobs you do today, using your current workflow, for decades.
Whether your needs will expand beyond the capabilities of that particular computer remains to be seen. And whether new "must have" killer Apps will come along and make your Mac seem slow, or lacking in some other way, no one knows for sure.
\[But that is what happened to most pre-1999 Macs. You can't give them away. Folks don't want them because they can't run the latest Web Browsers or play YouTube Videos].
