Anybody knows, what I have to do to transfer a license for Logic 8 (Logic Studio) from old to new MacBook Pro. Have I to "deauthorize" Mac before selling; Mac itself and whole Logic Studio before installing on the new one? I upgraded from Logic 7 with a "help" of a L7 dongle.

BostjanI would just delete the apps (also Soundtrack Pro/Mainstage/Compressor in case you installed them) and the Folder HD/Library/Application Support/Logic as well as any third party AU/VST components from your old Macbook (HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components). Also delete all L8 receipts from the Folder HD/Library/Receipts.
Then just install L8 on your new Macbook, enter your dongle when asked for during the Installation and all will be fine.

How to Force mac Thunderbolt External Display with Integrated GPU for Macbook Pro 2012?
I have been getting GPU Panic whenever I use external Thunderbolt Display.
Not sure whether this is software after(Mavericks) or hardware, if anybody could shed some light I would appreciate it.
The Current Discrete GPU will only work for few seconds 10 sec max before it became blank and require you to force shutdown. This also happened even without external display Blank and GPU Panic upon restart. So I suspected either the discrete GPU failure or software in Mavericks.
But at the moment I'm looking for workaround so I can use the intel intergrated GPU to use my Mac Thunderbolt External Display.

milehidefThe technical specifications from Apple say 4 GB but Mactracker says 6 GB. What I suggest you do is go to the OWC and/or Crucial websites and enter the serial number or other requested data for your MBP and get a definitive answer from them to see exactly what your MBP can handle. This may very well be one of those cases where what Apple originally configured the machines for was modified by subsequent tests.

I no longer have the software disk (OS10.5) that came with my MBP in July 2009. I only have the $10 Snow Leopard disk from Apple, which does NOT seem to contain any Apple Hardware Test (AHT). I have tried starting while holding d or option keys to no avail. Does neither my laptop nor OS 10.6 install disk have AHT? If not, can the appropriate AHT be obtained? My wife has an older MacBook & her original 10.5 install disk, but it will not launch AHT in my MBP. Any suggestions?

I received yet another Apple FedEx shipmet with yet another different Mac OS X Leopard install DVD; this makes three in all!! Just as with the 1st DVD, these two will NOT mount on my desktop, are NOT seen by Disk Utility (or by Drive Genius) and cannot boot my MBP laptop in either of 4 different modes: (1) start-up with "d" (2) start-up with "option d" (3) start-up with "option" (4) start-up with "c". Apparently none of the disks I received have Apple Hardware Test on them, although that is what I paid for in early December. It may be that the last two disks really do have Mac OS X Leopard on them, but because I am now running OS 10.7.5 (purchased from App store with no AHT), the disks cannot be seen by my laptop.
The two most recent incorrect DVDs I received have the following part numbers:
SRF2Z691-6037-A [indicated on packing slip 10.5 Retail-International]
SRF2Z679-6341-A (indicated on packing slip 10.5.6 Retail (PCrly 09) In]
I happen to have MacTracker app 7.2.1. It indicates that my laptop is a MacBookPro 5,3 model A1286 EMC2325 and requires Apple Hardware Test 3A171. Apple never sent me the correct AHT.
I suspect that Apple's cost to ship 3 incorrect DVDs by 1- or 2-day FedEx vastly exceeds the $17.44 price I paid for a working version of AHT for my computer, but have yet to receive. -

if you're just worried about word, depending on the version, it might not even run on the computer.
And surprising as it may be, web browsing, depending on how you browse and what plug-ins you have installed, can be a very intensive task that takes up CPU and memory.
I found a very good discussion specifically about your issue but the site is riddled with ads so just google "MBP battery life 2011" without the quotes for further information. (it's very vast)
Long story short, bring your power brick with you if you take your computer out. There are also extra battery options that are said to help you charge your computer however, the magsafe power adapter is Apple propietary hardware that no one is able to make unless it's an Apple branded product so these batteries usually have a three prong plug (depending on where you're from) to pluginto with your power brick. -
How should I go about setting an ssd hdd to my macbook pro
I currently have a macbook air. I am going to get a macbook pro 15 inch and take out the optical drive and put the hdd there and then a samsung 840 pro ssd in the spot for the orginal hdd. What i want to do is first copy my disk from my air to the ssd on the pro. Then i want to put all my media files on to the hdd.
My questions are--
1. How will i get OS X Mt Lion on my ssd? If i just copy over the disk image from my air to it will OS X be there or just the files? Also will the licensing and everything be in tact or will it have touble updating?
2. Is there anything i have to do to make my hdd and ssd work together while im running OS X. That way i can have my media on the hdd and other stuff on the ssd?
I evetually want to also boot camp windows 8 off the hdd.
Ive never done anything like thsi before so I really dont know what to expect. Excuse me for my lack of tech speak and whatnot.nbar
While I don't use the optibay for an extra disk space (I use my SuperDrive for archival purposes and use it weekly) I don't think that the OP will have any problems, particularly with the OWC Data Doubler. Thousands - if not tens of thousands - people have used this method for placing another drive in their MBPs and very, very few people have reported problems (usually when using a cheap caddy/connector).
So while I don't use this method, I can't even begin to dissuade others from doing it.

That's what it says, mine did too and was out of date. when Lion killed it.
Don't bother fixing it, it's a 4 year old machine and at it's end of life anyway, something else will just die on it, like the keyboard, the superdrive, the hard drive etc etc.
Wth all the money you'll spend fixing it, you could have a new machine.

So the photo itself is curved? Being so old, it would be hard to scan it without cracking the enulsion. You could try photographing it, and using the Spherize filter, or possibly a displacement map, to correct the curvature.
It woud be a good idea to use a long lens, and shoot from some distance away, to get the perspective of the shot as flat as possible.
