im really sorry new here and not sure where to look or put my question. It may have been answered many times but im new to windows phone and loosing the will to live when oh when is cortana going to be released to uk market im getting frustrated now and start reading about new updates but we havent got the last one fully its been in preview for ages now or so it seems and i cant find anywhere an answer as to when we are going to see the light at the end of a very long tunnel i feel like jacking it all in and going back to android please someone must have an idea once again sorry and in advance thankyou for any help on this subject best regards chris

If you go to the Software Updates forum you'll find an extensive post with links on the Windows Phone 8.1 update.
As the link provided above shows, except for the 820 on Vodafone all models in he UK now have Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Cyan update available.
Unless you have a second generation WP8 model Lumia Cyan firmware is really not all that important and installing the developer preview would be perfectly fine and usable.
If your phone has Lumia Cyan firmware (Settings > extras+info) you have WP8.1 already.. What was referred to was the next update for WP8.1 which is expected in the next quarter (With Lumia Denim firmware)
Since you have not told us what phone you are currently using and/or what the currently installed OS/Firmware version is we can't tell you anything more.

How much longer do we have to wait for a wireless ThinkPad keyboard?
Current ThinkPad USB keyboard with TrackPoint is ridiculously priced, considering it's on a wire, while you can buy a very decent wireless keyboard from Logitech for half the price. (I'm referring to the K340, which has quite a decent key-press experience.)
Seriously, nowadays wireless keyboards are no rocket science, nor expensive to manufacture. Lenovo totally dropped the ball here. Or maybe Lenovo thinks its Lenovo-branded wireless keyboards are reasonable competition for the ThinkPad family? Well, either way, Logitech wins.

Of course I realize I'm most likely talking to a wall. After all this is the company that has just released it's a top-shelf laptop family (X220) that lacks USB 3.0. And in the past - workstations for CG artists and CAD engineers (T61p) with a TN display and a D-Sub port. Also, 16:9 displays (i.e. a ratio useful only in movies) in business laptops.
Seriously, you need to hire a new person for feature policy. Someone with common sense.

I second that, third that and fouth that. Instead Lenovo seems to be heading in the opposite direction w/ the latest USB keyboard dropping the UltraNav and keeping trackpoint only.
A wireless UltraNav would be a kick butt wireless accessory which I'd buy in a flat heartbeat. Just think how useful it would be home theater setups or just in general... as I am having so many issues w/ my USB Ultranav and doc 3.
My dentist office uses a wireless setup in each patient room and they have a wirelss keyboard and mouse.. you should see them using the mouse sometimes. A wireless UltraNav is the best of both options!
If I could take the keyboard off my W510 and the fingerprint reader and integrate that into a wirelss ultranav.. then there's perfection.

How much longer before Lightroom 5.4 RC or update?

The new ACR and DNG converter has been out several weeks. How much longer for Lightroom 5.4?
I am about to go on an international trip with my Fujifilm X-T1, I could sure use the update.

It is interesting that you are convinced LR 5.4 will be released when LR6 is imminent? As you know once LR6 beta is released little will change in LR5 unless it is deemed vital. LR4 was virtually abandoned when LR5 was released. You will know when LR6 beta is approaching as there will be a degree of price dumping on LR5 - watch Amazon perhaps. History suggests LR6 beta is anytime from April until September but my money is on soon. Shelves have to be cleared of LR5 first though and obviously the LR6 beta ready.
I have trawled the internet and so far little talk of LR6 and I suspect LR5 users will not be early uptakers unless they have an issue? It is the new users and those with pre-LR5 (like me) that will be the early adopters. LR4 cannot "see" or process Nikon D610 RAW files. I doubt there will be an update ....... forcing me to drop LR, pre-process to DNG or upgrade. The choice is mine.
Like another poster I use LR4 as front-end to Photoshop. LR is just not as good for screen real estate - perhaps a good change for LR6?

How much longer can an iMac G5 stay relevant?

I have a 2ghz iMac G5 that I bought 6 years ago from Apple refurbished. It's been a great computer and it's still going.
The OS is stuck at 10.5.8 and obviously I have not been able to upgrade to Snow Leopard or Lion. I have the latest iTunes 10.5, but no iCloud support.
But, it stil works. I am hesitant to get rid of it. It's starting to really get slow with the internet as no major browsers are still being updated for it. Safari is stuck at 5.0.6, Firefox at 3.6.23.
How much longer should I expect to keep using it? Thoughts?

I suggest you keep using it whilst it still does what you want. I use my 2002 Powerbook G4 most days (even if just as an ad-hoc WiFi router for my iPad). My 2003 iMac G4 does service only as a TV and iTunes player in the kitchen.
Most iCloud features are easily replicated with other free services; Dropbox for cloud storage and a Google account for calendars, contacts and IMAP email would be my initial recommendations.
With regards to the internet speed there is no magic bullet, but keep to the minimum the number of tabs you have open at any time in Safari/FF and install ClickToFlash - Flash being a common resource hog on the internet - you'll only miss a few animated/noisy adverts and if something you want to view in Flash you can click it to load Flash at that point.

How much longer until Reader 8.0 support???

How much longer do we have to wait until ACF's can be used with Adobe Reader 8.0? This is causing us some pain with our customers because they install Reader 8.0 only to find out that it does not support ACF.
Reader 8 has been out 4 months now, how much longer will it take?

We have installed SP19 as mentioned in not 1036205 however we still get this error message from the ACF installer. This is why I posted my original question as to when SAP will release a fix for the installer.

Oracle released Java6u41 yesterday...but does anyone know for how much longer 6.x patches will be released considering that Java 6 is now EOL.

I bought this used iMac in 2010 and it's been great except that I can't upgrade anymore on it. I have snow leopard and I was told my Apple this is the last upgrade for this computer.
That worries me because my internet browsers will eventually stop working when more they upgrade and my computer is still runing on Snow Leopard.
Can anyone tell me how much longer I'll be able to keep this Mac before I have to replace it? It still works perfectly.

You should max out your RAM, but the Firefox issue may or may not be RAM related. If you restart and open no other applications but Firefox, do you still experience problems? If you don't, then it's most likely RAM related.
It may be an Add-on responsible for the slow loading. Quit Firefox then reopen it in safe mode, by holding down Option(alt). This will disable all Add-ons. If it appears to work better there, then you need to test by disabling each Add-on one by one to see which is the culprit.
It may also be a corrupted Profile in your Firefox folder. Option-drag the entire Firefox Folder located in your user Library>Application Support. This will make a backup, which you can restore later. You will know it's copying when you see a small circle with a plus sign inside. Don't do this if that doesn't appear. There is a more elegant way to do this, but it may be trickier to get going than what I have suggested.
Next, get a new Firefox application and install that. Doing this will create a new Firefox folder and Profile in that location. See how that one behaves. If it's better, then post back and I can tell you how to migrate things over from the old Profile. If it isn't, then just return the original Firefox folder to that location and allow it to replace the new one.

For how much longer can a 2008 MacBook Pro run? I'm still on Snow Leopard but just have updated HDD and RAM. Now the graphic card went down and the repair costs half of a new computer. What to do? If I can get three more years out of it I'd go for it, but it's a gamble. Can you guess the risks?

DONT PAY FOR A REPAIR! its not worth it anymore, as most companies dont replace the gpu because the part isnt made any more. They don't repair it and it isnt permanent, but your still paying!! its crazy! fortunately there is a way to do the exact thing that they do without dissassembling your computer! just follow these steps:
1. Plug in your macbook pro (make sure that its off)
2. Turn on the computer, and hwen it chimes, close the lid and turn it updside down.
3. Wrap the macbook in a heavy quilt.
4. Let the computer sit for about an hour.
5. Take it out of the quilt, unplug it and let it cool for 20 minutes.
6. Turn on the computer.
I can say that this works as I had the same problem, and after this method, the computer is up and running, I'm typing this on it now!

My time capsule has stopped working since installing Yosemite. It says to wait to tell me how much longer but it stays that way for hours.

My time machine has stopped working since I upgraded to Yosemite. It gets to the point that says it will estimate the time remaining, but it never gives me that answer and it just stays on that page and never completes it's backup. This is a brand new macpro, so I wanted to capture the previous info on my computer I was able to put my external hard drive on new computer and it did the migration and all my old info returned. However, two days later I wanted to do a backup using Time Machine with my Western Digital Mac external hard drive but it won't progress past saying how much time remaining, even after several hours of sitting there.

You do need to wait a long time.. as it takes a long while for Yosemite to index the existing backup if it is large.

It is clearly no where near as comprehensive as it needs to be.
I presume your disk has your old backup.. it may be better to keep the old backup.. save that for the future.. and get a new disk and start a fresh clean backup.
I would also recommend using Carbon Copy Cloner or similar for the time being. Make a bootable clone backup of your drive to a new external drive.. it is really superior in lots of ways to Time Machine. And does show you what it is doing.
For TM at least you can still use the widget so you have some log access to that TM does.

FTTC, how much longer?

BT installed a Fibre Cabient beside my telephone in November, Noticed today and yesterday, they have been at the cabient doing stuff inside it, i don't know, dsl checker shows 31 May 14 and I did email openreach and got a reply last month saying Feb 2014.
Do you think it will be soon that I'll be able to order it, heard many stories of delays etc, so I am not sure.
I know it's a big process for FTTC but I can feel it will be soon.
Does the BT infinity/dslchecker update quick when it's available or would I need to phone.

Hi,
I was wondering how long left (estimate) that I can finally! order BT Infinity.
The FTTC cabient was install in November and I've noticed BT been at the cabient a few times.
However recently, I saw a electric company on Friday doing something to it, guess putting power to it.
Roughly how long after this (i take it BT will have to do something to it first) before its ready.
dslchecker says 31 May 14, however i've had emails from Openreach, end of Feb and the latest email saying end of March it should be ready. I take it 31 May 14 is just a placeholder date for delays etc.
Any advice would be helpful, thanks!
