You need to connect to a computer with iTunes and restore...start iTunes, connect the USB end of the iPod cable, then while holding the home button on the iPod, connect the 30-pin connector end of the cable to the iPod. The proceed to recover and restore the iPod.

ALl we can say her in this Apple forum s to restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPOd. Yu can try placing the iPod in recovery mode. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
Otherwise you will have to go to elsewhere. Jailbreaking voids the warranty and Apple will no longer help.

Put it in DFU mode (Google it), and Restore it as new in iTunes.

Ok, so on sunday, i lost my grip on my iPod touch (4th gen) abd it fell on the lock button. I tugged on my headphones so it wouldnt hit the ground, and all that touched the ground was the top of the iod where the loc button is. Now I have a crack from the middle of a previous crack (very small) and it goes across the screen . Its under the front camera down and across. IDK if my mom bought a warrenty when she bought it, and she doesnt know about the crack yet. Is there any way to fix the screen without having to go to apple and pay $100 to fix it.
