How stop PS6 from removing the DPI-value from an image when using "save for the web"?
Example:
- Open a tif image, that contains a dpi value (resolution).
- Use the splice tool in PS6.
- Export the slices with "Save for web", as gif-files.
Then the dpi value is removed, the gif files has no dpi value (it's empty).
How can we stop PS6 from removing the dpi value when using "save for web"?
OR:
When using the slice tool, how can we save the sliced pieces without PS removing the dpi value?
you can make your art go a little bit over the bounds. or you can make sure your artboart and art edges align to pixels

CS3 crashes when using Save For The Web
I recently installed CS4, but because of the slow performance problems with it, I've gone back to using CS3. I'm finding that every time I use CS3's Save For The Web function, CS3 crashes. I tried re-installing CS3 but the problem persists. Save For The Web on CS4 is OK.

Mac user, PS CC 2014 latest version. When using "Save for Web" I bring my 900 x600px @72 ppi in to SFW and the output becomes 300ppi. The only way it stays at 72ppi is if I check "none" for metadata. I know to should not matter much, but I would prefer to keep all my web jpgs @ 72ppi. Any solutions?

Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. already suggested
- Power off and then back on the router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

How do I get the option to capture image when placing signature for the first time.
According to the help screen for Adobe Reader the first time a signature is placed I should be presented with a dialog box that has the option to import a signature image. But what I get is only the option to drag over an area of the screen to place an image which must be a pdf which requires a paid upgrade to create from an image file.
why is the help out of sync with the program?Correct I’ve followed as you’ve instructed below, but this is my screen shot:

Note that 3 of the options are missing: Convert PDF to Word or Excel Online, Create PDF, and Add Text or Signature are all missing. Why are these missing and how do I correct this so they can be used?

I deleted the "places.sqlite" and "localstore" files as instructed in the support FAQ section, and now i can save bookmarks, but in the Bookmarks toolbar and drop down menu, the only bookmark that has an icon(picture) next to the name of the bookmark is one that I use the IE Tab extension for due to incompatibility of that website with Firefox. This one does have an Internet Explorer Icon. The rest are just a blank dotted square where the icon should be. I downloaded Firefox 8 first and was having this problem, so I tried Aurora, which I am using now but got the same problem. The below support instructions solved the problem of not being able to save Bookmarks, but now I am having the icon issue.

"The operation could not be completed" when doing Save for web

I have just installed Photoshop CS5.1 on my new iMac with Mac OS 10.7 (Lion). Everytime I try to do a 'Save for web' I get this error message "The operation could not be completed". After that Photoshop also hangs. I've tried many solutions offered in forums and the like, but nothing helps. I am getting quite desperate...Anybody?I found out the following:
When I write in Terminal:
sudo chmod -R u+w ~/Library/Preferences
sudo chmod -R u+rw ~/Library/Application\ Support
The error message disappears, until I do a restart of the computer. Then the error is back.
My suspiscion is that the error came up after moving files from my old computer to my new one.
It happened even before I installed Lion...
So now I'm thinking of doing a complete new install on Lion, not an upgrade and then install Photoshop again. But I am not really looking forward to this :-( -
Saving JPG to PNG using Save for the Web
Morning
I came across Paul Riggott's script for saving PSD to PNG which I changed to JPG to PSD.
The only problem with this is that the file size in most cases is larger than the original.
Is there a way to do a save as for the web as well?

What is the maximum number of input images when using PB in Flash?

I am experimenting with animation baking using Pixel Bender in Flash. It works fine up to around 12 input images. When I use more than that the output gets distorted or is empty. So I am wondering if there is a fixed limit or if there is a problem with my code.I don't think there is a fixed limit. If there was you'd get a runtime error. This may be a player bug.

Error when using PPR in the OA page developed.
HI,
We are encountering an error when using PPR for the custom OA page being developed. I am using JDeveloper version 9.0.3.5(Build 1437) and Oracle Applications version 11.5.10.CU2. The scenario we are using PPR and the steps to reproduce the issue is mentioned below,
Scenario:
1) PPR is enabled for a custom OA page that is developed.
2) The PPR is being used to enable or disable a particular field based on the
selection of a value in a poplist in the same OA Page.
Error replication steps:
1) The user enters a value in the primary mandatory field which has to have
unique value.
2) The user selects a value from the poplist of a field which has PPR associated.
3) The user enters data in all other mandatory fields in the OA page except one
and tries to save the form and is shown a error message saying that all
mandatory fields are not entered(This is correct). Now the page gets
automatically refreshed and so the entered values are wiped off.
4) Now if the user again enters a value in the primary mandatory field (as in
step1) and if that value happens to be already existing value and then select
a value from the poplist which has PPR enabled then immediately the error
"Please enter a unique value" is entered, though we did not save the record.
The unique record validation would happen only at the time of saving the
record as per out business logic.
5) But if in Step 4 if i had entered a unique value again then the above said error
does not happen. There are few more similar kind of issues happening in the
same page because PPR is enabled.
Please note that this issue happens only when the page is deployed in a oracle
applications instance and not in JDeveloper.
Would this issue because of some cacheing problem? If Yes then how do we resolve it? Or would it be some other problem caused by our internal coding.
Any inputs for resolving this issue would be highly appreciated.

And PPR is an old feature given quite enough time to mature, so before we suspect OA we should investigate the code. What I do not understand is how the page refreshes in Step 3 and why does the user have to re-enter the fields just because he missed entering one mandatory field the last time.
Mandatory field validations are client validations set by making the fields 'Required'. You obviously have client validations turned off on your PPR, otherwise you would be stuck with a javascript popup on PPR. The only way you can get the "Please enter unique..." error on PPR is Server Validation. So where have you placed this validation? If it is not in the EO, is it in the AM? And are you unconditionally calling the AM validation method in your processFormRequest? The PPR will also go through processFormRequest so I hope the PPR event is in a different if-else block. -

How can save for the web the same smooth quality that I see on the screen?

In both cases I am using save for web. In the first instance I am exporting at 100% size, 200% size in the next instance. If you are resizing in CSS/manually, export from Illy at the desired size.

I was having trouble with image colors when I used 'save for the web' and I found a couple of solutions in tech notes regarding embedded color profiles but there is some thing I just don't understand.
It says:
"To ensure that colors are consistent in Photoshop, ImageReady and the Save for the Web dialog box, use an embedded color profile for display in each, or preview the image in Photoshop using the monitors RGB color space. Note that if you use an embedded color profile for display, colors may appear incorrectly if you view the image in an application that cannot read color profiles."
Can somebody give me the lowdown on what exactly a color profile is (what it does, when you should embed one etc) and some examples of the kind of application that can't read them i.e. if I send the photos via e-mail can the profile be read? put them on a web page?

j.A profile is a file that decribes to applications that can read them the color and tonal characteristics of a particular device. A profile can also be a mathematical description of a particular RGB or CMYK Lab color space. You've probably seen RGB working spaces in Photoshop referred to in terms like sRGB, Adobe RGB, ProPhoto RGB, etc. Any application that is color managed and can read and use profiles needs a minimum of two profile to to the job - a source profile and a destination profile. When you're looking at images on your computer monitor, the source is your RGB working space and the destination is your specific monitor. Photoshop uses both the working space profile and the monitor profile to display your image correctly. Most other applications in Windows do not read profile and have to assume either "Monitor RGB" or sRGB as the source for the file. If your file is not one of those, then false asumptioins are made and the image does not appear correctly. Some web browsers like Firefox 3 and Apple Safari do read profiles but not necessarily by default. You have to turn the option in FF. Some email readers are color managed, others not.
Profiles can be and usually are embedded in the document when you save it. Unless you have a good reason for not embedding a profile, it's almost always a good idea. It adds 4K to the file size and will let someone down the line who is using a color managed application see the file how you intended it. You have no control over the others, but that's life online. Currentlyl the best strategy is convert files destined for the web to sRGB and embed the profiles. That might change in the future, but it's a good place to be right now. -
When I "save for the web" in Photoshop, why does Image Ready open? This adds time to my workflow.
I had 2 computer crashes - laptop and desktop at once. I only had Phostoshop CS but due to problems with Windows 8 etc. Adobe gave me a link to CS2 so I could still use Photoshop. On the desktop, I made some kind of setting where "save for web" stays in Photoshop, but on the laptop I evidently didn't make the same choice and "save for the web" goes through Image Ready. Any thoughts on that?

When using Word for the Mac, I am unable to customize my toolbars. When I go through the sequence called for in "Help", no icon buttons show up for me to select. Also, no toolbars come up automatically when I open a new document, and I cannot see any setting in preferences to make that happen. Can anyone help me?
If you don't get an answer here, try the Word forum. Make sure you tell people what version of Word you are talking about, it can make a big difference.

After I create say a word document, file it on my desktop and then shut down my machine. The next time I open up the MacBook the file icon has been removed from the desktop. I can still retrieve the file in a folder labeled with the month I created it. But why has the OS removed it from the desktop and how can I stop it happening?
It happens to alias icons as well!
