How to access the options tab without opening firefox in windows 8.1?

Recently moved from Windows XP to Windows 8.1. Used to be able to access the Firefox options tab via a context menu by right-clicking the icon in my Start Menu without having to open the browser window, which was useful for selectively deleting cookies, etc, after a browsing session.
Is this functionality still possible in Windows 8.1? If so, how? Or is this just another Windows 8 annoyance?

Is there any way to quickly access the options menu without clicking "Firefox/Options"?

I want to be able to quickly jump to the Firefox Options menu without having to click the "Firefox" button and then "Options" after. The reason I want to do this is because I want to be able to quickly change fonts, and I also want to quickly allow/disallow websites from using their own font and background colors. The bright whites that websites often use hurt my eyes. Some websites don't work properly if they aren't allowed to use their own font and background settings, so I have to switch it back and forth, depending on the website. It is annoying to have to go through multiple Firefox menus every time I change my font and background settings. A quick keyboard shortcut or a button press to access options or allow/disallow font and background settings would be great. Any help?

One alternative solution would be to investigate some of the add-ons available. Some of these may need a bit of setting up but then modify how websites display.

SanjayBala, just so you know that it is possible to create a database link in Oracle to non-Oracle databases in some circumstances. Look up Generic Connectivity aslo know as Heterogenous Services. With 11g Oracle has basically renamed the feature and replaced it with somethinkg named ike DG4ODBC.
I have not spent time studying the details for DB4ODBC but with HS Oracle provided the interface and you had to obtain the necessary ODBC driver on your own. I had Oracle on AIX reading and writing to SQL Server on Windows but the developers chose to write a java program and connect to both via it. On Windows and Linux platforms the necessary ODBC drivers might be available without the requirement to go out and purchase one.
The Oracle Open Gateway product is an advanced version of the above features with drivers for specific non-Oracle databases included like DB2 or Informix.

How to change the initial page without open safari

I have problems opening my safari because of the plugin silverlight. I defined a tvair.swisscom.ch page as initial and it makes an error open it. it means that my safari doesn't work at all.

Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

How to make the new tabs to open the same URL as the startup page?

I was wondering if it's possible to configure the Firefox in such a way that the new tabs open exactly the same URL that is typed in the Options. I tried to set browser.newtab.url to about:home but it gives me Firefox Google custom page instead of the startup page that I've set in the Options. Another way I tried is to set the browser.newtab.url value in about:config to the same URL as the startup page URL, but then if I change the URL in the options the new tab URL is not changed. So the question is whether it's possible to make the Firefox read the URL that is used for the startup page and go there when opening a new tab.

Ctrl W did the trick and I think I should be able to remember that. Right click menu when the document or site is open on the screen doesn't work, but it does from the taskbar menu above. Either way, I know what to do now. Thank you.

When clicking CTRL+Link my new tab opens in the background window, instead of the foreground window I'm using. Is there a way to make this work the way it used to, where the new tab always opens in whatever window I was currently using?

I use a web based software for work. I go to a web page listing all employees as links (Window A). When I click an employee link a new window opens (Window B). Window B contains links, i.e. Add Client, Change Address, Change Phone Number, Change Name, Upload Photo, etc... When I hold CTRL and left click the links in Window B, the new tab opens in Window A. I don't understand why this has changed, as I've been using this method to open new tabs in my current window in both of the previous versions of Firefox.

To give you an example of what I'm speaking, I found this page that recreates the scenario.

When I open a Firefox page it is just a black screen, no URL bar no Back, Forward or Home button nothing appears. After a couple minutes I can mouse over some stuff (mostly the blank spaces where you can enter text) and it will appear, but still can't see the "buttons" or menus (i.e.Internet options). No easy way. Unless you use the same username and the same password on both system then you have to enable Windows File Sharing (SMB) in Sharing, add your Mac username and type in your password in the options of Sharing and then set a NetBIOS name and a workgroup name that is the same on both Windows and Mac. That is in the Network section under advanced WINS tab.

yes, i should expand.....the external hard drive i link iphoto to has had an error and basically the iphoto package is hoarding all of my photos so i'm searching everywhere i can to piece back the 1 TB of photos that are gone. data recovery is too expensive from what i have found so i'm left trying to do this! i have another external drive that backs up my entire system on a regular basis throughout the day. i was able to recover the iphoto library from a few months ago before it was deleted (it had been backed up). so i'm only missing a few months of photos now. i was hoping if i could access the trash files (if they're backed up on this drive) that i would find photographs that had been on my desktop and then i'd put in the trash......does that help clarify??? so i basically want to look in the trash bin that was backed up in several files on this drive (IF that's even possible!) thanks for your help!!!
