How to adjust the brightness of a second display connected to iMAC 2012  by Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter?

How to adjust the brightness of a second display (Dell 3007WFPHC 2560x1600 dpi) connected to 27 inch iMAC 2012 through thunderbolt port by an Apple Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI Adapter?

Macs control computer by USB.  With a non-Apple display, you will have to use the brightness control on the display.

What is the maximum resolution available for use with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter?

    Hey guys,
I found out an answer by myself...
The missing link : the MacBook Pro needs to be powered... as in you need to plug the charger in...
In conclusion, you simply plug everything, turn on the MacBook Pro, close the lid, and there you go !

  • TS3232 I have the mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter firmware 1.03 and I still have screen flickering issues

I have the mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter firmware 1.03 and I still have massive screen flickering issues on a Mac Mini 2012.
I am using a Dell 30" monitor (it's the Samsung screen just rebranded) connected to a WD 4TB Thunderbolt drive connected to the Mac Mini.
The screen is usable for the most part when I've just started the computer (although today I started having issues after a fresh restart) but if even just the screen goes to sleep, or the computer goes to sleep and I wake it later, I start to have massive flickering to black and occasionally to snow.
The effect seems to be more likely to arise when I'm on heavy graphics-intensive websites or programs (eg, Tumblr feed with lots of GIF images or working in Adobe Premiere), but once it starts shutting down those programs has no effect, the screen keeps flickering wildly.
The problem improved after the 1.03 firmware upgrade (for a while it was flickering uncontrollably ALL the time and was virtually unusable) but it has not gone away.
Any suggestions would be very welcome, either for how to fix this issue or how to get Apple to, you know, let me TELL THEM that their adapter firmware fix has NOT solved the issue, since my phone support has expired. :/

I have a new Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter to allow my original Apple 30" Cinema Display to connect to the new Mac Pro.  Shipped straight from Apple, it is firmware version 1.03.  I've never had flickering issues, but the display will often go black (possibly after a screen power save) and not come back.  when this happens I am still able to connect to and use the Mac via remote connection.  But the only way to get the screen back is either to unplug the adapter and plug it back in to the Mac, or to shut down and power up the Mac.  This may be a separate issue, so I'll also post it standalone...

  • Is an Apple ACTIVE Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter the same thing as an old Mini-DP to DVI adapter?

Is an Apple ACTIVE Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter the same thing as an old Mini-DP to DVI adapter?
Will a different adaptor give me better resolution between my old computer and a new monitor?
    Computer: MBP 15-inch Mid 2010
    Monitor: Dell U2713H
Current cable: 20276 3dv ft1 DVI Digital Dual Link with a Apple Mini-DP to DVI adapter to get it to plug into my MBP.
Possible solution?: Apple ACTIVE Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter instead of my old adapter above?

Yes. A single-link DVI connection can't drive that monitor at its maximum resolution.

  • Can a Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter do the same job as the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter?

Can a Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter do the same job as the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter?  Meaning, can I connect a DVI screen less than 30 inches?  Why would I buy the expensive product?  Simply because I might have to sometimes work with a small screen, sometimes with a big, and it would save me the trouble and money of buying both.  If the answer is yes, do I have to constantly plug it in USB, even on a smaller screen?

    Hi p,

    Yes.

    Yes.
Why would I buy the expensive product?
Don't know which products you're looking at, so can't say.

A dual link is supposed to handle any single link signal, it just has twice the bandwidth.

  • Will the old 23" ACD work with the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapte

Will the old 23" ACD work with the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter and the new MacBook Pro?
Apple Store says it is for the 30" only.
    Thanks ... Ken

I'm not so sure about that. I'd say the jury's still out until someone gets one and tries to use it single-link.

  • How do you adjust the brightness on a Thunderbolt Display

How do you adjust the brightness of a Thunderbolt Display attached to an iMac ?

I had this peculiar ‘issue’ hooking up to my MacBook Retina when my Thunderbolt Display was delivered but Applecare  - thanks Andrew - got me there. It seems daft!
The Thunderbolt Display Brightness slider IS there – you just have to know how to make it show up.
At initial set-up of the Thunderbolt Display [or if the Brightness slider is ever not visible in the System Preferences> Thunderbolt Display window], so long as the Thunderbolt [external] Display and the Macbook Display are ‘mirrored’ I can control the Thunderbolt [external] Display via my MacBook Retina Brightness keys [F1 & F2] – or by the Brightness slider that THEN appears in my System Preferences>Thunderbolt Display window. Once set up the Thunderbolt Display System Preferences Window continues to show the Brightness slider but I occasionally lose it if my MacBook has been disconnected from the Thunderbolt Display for some time – and I then have to start over.
    So:-
    Apple menu >
    System Preferences>
    Displays>
    Click Arrangement [at the top]
Click Mirror Displays [at the lower left]
That then gives me-at-least a Brightness slider on the System Preferences> Thunderbolt Display window [as well as on the Built In Retina Display window] and I can then adjust them independently.
Oddly, having set this up just once the Brightness slider then remains on my Thurnderbolt Display and I can control it [and my MacBook Retina Display independently]. Occasionally I lose it again and have to start over.
    Hope this works for others.

  • What does the 'Dual' in Dual-Link DVI Adapter refer to?

We purchased a 'Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI Adapter thinking it meant we could split the output to two monitors such as the Matrox TripleHead2Go or Matrox DualHead2Go.
Having received it, we are unable to determine the advantage of using this product other than a normal Mini to DVI adapter. Hopefully the Dual doesn't refer to the addition of a USB port. Thanks for any replies.
    --Bruce D. Meyer

DVI uses a transmission format called "transmission minimized differential signaling" (TMDS). In the DVI standard, single-link means that there's one 165MHz TMDS transmitters connected, and dual-link means that there is 2 (doubling the bandwidth of the cable). So, a single-link cable can transmit 1920x1200 at 60 Hz, whereas a dual-link can transmit 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz (about 1.8x the resolution).
So, a dual-link cable will allow you to use higher resolutions and frequencies (though common LCD panels are locked at 60 Hz) than a single-link one.

  • How to adjust the brightness on Tecra 8100?

hello there i'm using a tecra 8100 and I just cant find where to adjust the brightness which is really giving me problem. Please anyone help.

    > Since I install my Windows XP, I can't use my Fn button.
    @pardhi
You have installed the OS manually and you didnt use the Toshiba recovery CD. Am I right??
The fresh Microsoft OS does not contain the Toshiba drivers and therefore the drivers for the FN functions must be installed additionally.
The problem is that you will not find any drivers for the Windows XP for the Tecra 8100.
The WinXP drivers are not available and therefore you cannot use the FN keys

  • How to adjust the brightness of a video clip/still pictures ?

    Hi there,
I have a video & a still picture on the timeline. But the video & picture are very dark.
I wanna apply an effect to increrase its brightness. Where is the brightness effects located ? Sorry, I cannot seem to be able to find it in the Video Effects.
    Thanks

Look at the color correction part in the Inspector.
If you have other clips that look ok, you may try "match color" to make the not so well exposed more similar the better ones. If that doesn't work well, click the little arrow next to "Correction 1", and there you can tweak the exposure, but also the saturation and hue of your clip. Don't overdo it (unless of course you do so willingly and knowingly :-)).

  • Adjusting the brightness of an external display

Does anyone know how of a program, command, or setup that will allow me to dim my external display (HP L1906) using my PowerBook? It's extremely annoying and visually unappealing that, in low light conditions, my external display keeps on full blast while my PowerBook dims to almost nothing.
    Thanks.

This is a bug others have reported and I've seen.
    Submit a feature request here:

Meanwhile, you can simply detach the video cable from the computer when you don't want that display in use, or add an A/B box to switch the display cable on the computer to go to a second non-existent display.

  • How do I get my Macbook Pro 15" to run dual monitor setup with Dual Link DVI outputs

I own have two 27" 2560x1440 WQHD LED IPS Computer monitors and have been trying to get them to work with my macbook pro 15" w retina for over a month now. I have purchased multiple products and nothing has worked. The big problem is that the only input that the monitors have is a Dual Link DVI input. The closest that i have gotten to getting them to work was this morning when I bought 2 Mini Display Port to Dual Link DVI Adapters for $99 a peice. Below is a link
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB571Z/A/mini-displayport-to-dual-link-dvi-ada pter?afid=p219%7CGOUS&cid=AOS-US-KWG-PLA
Problem is that when I hook them up, I still only get a picture on one of the screens. Also, it requires you to plug into a mini Display port and USB port which takes up all of the space for me to run any othe peripherals. Though it has a built in USB port, when I plug my apple keybaord into it, I get an saying "USB Device Needs power, connect "keyboard Hub" to power or usb port on this mac"
I have looked everywhere for a docking station that would satisfy my needs, however, it does not exist. I use my macbook as my main office computer and take it home with me every night. I switched from the lenovo thinkpad to the macbook and have been satsified with my decision except for the fact that i cannot connect my monitors to it.
    Please help!

Yes, that would work, however it would cost me $2000 for the monitors.
