How to advance through pictures in a folder ?

Hello,
Don't know whether this is the right forum or not but hopefully question is
simple enough that everyone but me knows the answer.
I would like to able to click on a photo in a folder - and then once it
opens ( in Preview on my computer ) be able to advance to the next picture and the next, without having to "Load them".
Somebody once showed me how to use to the spacebar to launch into Quik-look
or something like that, but I cannot get that to work.
Just keeps opening in Preview with the Next / Previous arrows all grayed out.
Can anyone tell me how to perform this ) seemingly ) simple task ?
Thank you,
Sterne

Exactly what are you trying to do?
You should be viewing your iPhoto library using iPhoto - when you do you can use the left and right arrow keys to move between photos
And note that in iPhoto (different from the finder) folders hold albums and other folders - not photos)

  • How do I move pictures from one folder to another folder?

How are photos moved from one folder to another?  Second question:  How can a folder be renamed?

In PSE11 Organizer, your managed folders(folders from which you have imported your media) are shown in your left panel under "My Folders". There is a small icon next to this label 'My folders" which on mouse hover says: "Show folder hierarchy". Click on this one to see the folder tree. Now expand teh tree to a folder from where you want to move files from. Also expand the folder tree such that your destinatio folder is also visible. Just click on source folder so that you see the media to be moved. Select and drag them to the destination folder icon.
Also if you want to move your media to an unmanged folder(which does not have any media imported into EO yet), you need to right click teh parent folder and select "show all sub folders" to view that folder. And then you can move your media in the same way.
    Hope that helps!

  • How can I add pictures to a folder and automatically update an iPhoto event?

    Hi everyone.
I use Image Capture to transfer pictures from my phone and cameras onto my Mac.
Some of these pictures end up in pre-existing folders, that I then want iPhoto to recognize - is there any way of iPhoto re-scanning the folder and adding the additional pictures to the event?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

    No
There are third party solutions. Give google a run.
You also may be able to create an Automator or Apple script work flow to do this.

  • How to move NEF pictures in a folder on my desktop

    Hi all,
I'm new to mac and have been playing a bit with iPhoto and it really seems great. Here is my problem, I have a D90 which takes JPG and NEF pictures at the same time. When I import my pictures in iPhoto it puts both files next to each other. How could I move only my NEF files and keep the JPG in the event or album?
    Thanks,
    Rob

Is there a step-by-step instruction guide I can find re how to so import photos through iTunes?
    For windows pc's Photo albums:
    1) Create a master sync folder on your pc with no photo files at the root level of the folder.
    2) Create sub-folders within the master sync folder with the subfolders named what you want the ipad's photo albums to be named.
    3) Place the photo files you want to sync in the appropriate subfolder within the master sync folder.
    4) In itunes on the photos tab, select the master folder as the sync folder.
    5) After syncing, each subfolder will be an album on the ipad with the proper photos contained there-in.

  • How to flip through multiple image files in a folder using Preview?

On windows a default image viewing program similar to preview allows a user to press the arrow keys to flip through images within the same folder as the image file originally opened with a Preview-like application.
How can a person filp through images in the same folder with a few keystrokes using Preview?
    thanks

hmm...you mean there isn't a way to simply skim
through images in a folder using an arrow or page-up
    key?? That's kind of disappointing...especially
    being forced to pre-select images...
    oceanbluesky,
There's no reason you can't use Preview to do what you're trying to do. And there's no need to pre-select images.
The trick is to open Preview first, and then choose Open from the File menu (or Command + O on the keyboard). When Preview's Open dialog window appears, navigate to the folder which contains your pictures. Highlight the entire folder and then press the Open button. Once the folder is open in Preview you should be able to use your arrow keys to flip through...
Note: To avoid a storm of images from opening on your desktop, go to Preview > Preferences > Images and make sure that the "Open each image in its own window" radio button is not selected.
    Good luck!

Can any one tell me how can I move to a different folder pictures, that I've cloned, without them staying aggregated? They all come together to the other folder and I don't want that… thanks

There's more to it than that.
Folders in Aperture do not hold Images.  They hold Projects and Albums.  You cannot put an Image in a Folder without putting it in a Project or an Album inside that Folder.
The relationship between Projects and Images is special:  every Image must in a Project, and can be in only one Project.
Images can be in as many Albums you want.  Putting an Image in an Album does not move it from the Project that holds it.
You can make as many Versions from a Master as you want.
What you want to do may appear simple to you, but it still much adhere to how Aperture works.  I still can't tell exactly what you are trying to do (specifically: Images don't live in Folders; moving an Image from a Folder is non-sensical).
It can be very confusing (and frustrating) to get going with Aperture -- but it does work, and can be enormously helpful.  If you haven't, take a look at the video tutorials on Apple's Aperture support site.
I feel as though I haven't helped you much -- but we need to be using the same names for interface items in order to get anything done -- and my sense is that you still haven't learned the names of the parts.

Photos that were synced from a computer won't show for copying to a computer. If you want to copy them back then you will need a third-party app on your phone such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to a device, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer (e.g. their dimensions might be different and their colours may look a bit different).

I have pictures in a folder, how can I display them in name order?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I don't think you can. You might ensure that their creation dates are in order, but I'm not so such that will help. Ordering seems to be a feature limited to use with iPhoto/Aperture.

  • How do I select multiple pictures in a folder

How do I select multiple pictures in a folder? I have tried shift + click, command + click etc but cannot find a way of selecting a large group without selecting individually

Select the first image.  Then Command-Click on each additional image you want to select as part of a group.
If you are using List mode, you can click on the first, then Shift-Click on the last, and all the files between the first and the last will also be selected.
Command-Click will still work to add additional non-sequential, or to remove items from the list already selected.

  • Looping through files in a folder, How to

Looking for plsql code to read through files in a folder, and pass the name of the file found to a parm.
The parm will then be used to open the table, process data to end of file, and then close the file. The file is then moved to an archive, and the next file in the folder is read, name of file passed to parm, file is opened, data is processed, and file is moved to archive....repeat until no files in folder.
I only need some help with reading through the folder to find the table. I have code on how to open, process and move a folder...it's the file in folder read loop I am trying to develop.
In summary, I am looking for some code showing how to read all tables in a folder and pass the name of the table found, until all files read.

Yes, you understand....thank you. That's the primary objective of this thread....determine the name of the .csv file.
The putline and so forth process the file. I need to find the file, it's name, and then process the .csv file.PL/SQL itself has no mechanism built in for determining the list of files in a directory.
The Java solution is one of the easiest to implement as PL/SQL can interface fairly simply with Java functions which you can create on the database.
There are other ways, but no way is going to be completely simple.
Remember, from PL/SQL you will only really be able to get to files that the database server itself can see, so either files on the database server itself, or files on machines that the server itself has network mappings to that it can treat as if they are local files. It certainly won't be able to hack across the network to any client machines hard drive to read a list of files.
