How to automount StorNext Volume on XSan client?

I found a similiar question in this forum.

But it doesn't work.
I found a mount command in /System/Library/StartupItems/acfs/acfs. So I tried /etc/fstab. But still no work. The "mount -at acfs" didn't return anything, just like no execution.
Does there anyone have successful experience?
StorNext 2.7 MDC and XSan 1.3 client.

Xsan uses an automount file to determine the SAN volumes to be mounted. It is in /Library/Filesystems/Xsan/config/automount.plist and looks like:

The volume then appears in /Volumes on the machine.

Automount SMB volumes in Leopard (autofs)

Can someone give a brief example on how to automount SMB volumes in Leopard using the new autofs automounter? I have heard that /etc/fstab is no longer support in 10.5, correct? I ned the mounts to show up in the Finder. I dont care if the mount point is /Servers or not as long as I can see the volumes in Finder.
Im a tad confused. According to automount, /etc/fstab is still available, but doesnt exist.
Any suggestions?

I currently push out all my SMB volumes to my Mac desktops via MCX and Open Directory. MCX basically sets the SMB volumes as Login Items as you suggested (but of course it automounts then for all my users based on computer and user/group policies which is great for centrally manging hundreds of computers). Example: users in the "Managers" group get a MCX login item for the "Managers" SMB volume, so they mount the "Mangers" share when they log into their Macs. If they are off the LAN/domain, then the Finder displays an error after x minutes attempting to connect. This works fine, but it gets clunky for users with laptops. When the laptop users aren't on the network (i.e.; on the road, etc) they get Finder errors when the login items fail ("the login item cant be found"). I cant figure out a way to suppress the Finder errors for the laptop users so my next workaround is to figure out a better way to dynamically mount the volumes and avoid the Finder from throwing login item errors that annoy my users.
Id love to figure out a way to tie autofs and OD together so that the Macs will mount the proper SMB volumes by simply reading OD groups and mounting the volumes as needed. Example: Users in the "Managers" group automount the "Managers" SMB share at login (if the domain can be reached and the Mac is on the LAN). Likewise, members in the IT group will automount the "IT Dept" SMB share at login , etc. This assumes the users have the proper memberships and permissions and that the Macs are able to query DS and find the SMB server etc.
Any ideas?

HOW TO: EDIT IN PLACE ON WINDOWS CLIENT

We have XSAN and fiber channels working.
I configure the device but it doesn´t work.

No iam not using stornext for the windows clients.
The mac and windows clients running on ethernet. The the mac clients have mapped the xsan volumes using AFP or SMB protocol and the edit in place works ok.
The windows clients have mapped the xsan volumes through SMB but the edit un place doesnt work, the files are cached and doesn´t run as edit in place.

Are you using StorNext FX to add the Windows clients to your Xsan? If so, then all you have to do is add the Windows Edit-in-place URI to each EIP device in the Devices section of the Java client Admin GUI (not the System Preferences pane). Once you've done that, EIP will work for the Windows clients as well. Here are the instructions for entering the correct URI syntax.
If you are not using StorNext FX for your Windows clients, please give us more detail on how your system is set up.

XSan clients with 2 scsi controllers

Hi all!
I have an Xsan with 6 Mac clients with an Apple Fibre Channel card each. Some of them have an Atto scsi controller connected to an external disk tower too. These client don't work if the external disk tower is connected. The client boots but when login the finder can't start and freeze.
I'm using the latest update 1.3

You may have what are called corrupt free inodes. Inodes are the actual containers in the file system that store your data. Here are some similar threads that may help you:

In the first thread, they were able to simply rebuild their Xsan and restore from backup, but in the second, they were able to use cvfsck -C to perform a "clobber" which removes the bad inodes, so new, uncorrupted inodes can be created.
The problem is, if you have an Xsan with this kind of corruption, it will usually re-appear, so your best bet is to do what you have to to get your volume back online long enough to grab your data, then re-create your volume again from scratch. If you did a volume expansion in the past without running cvfsck and making sure your file system was clean first, this kind of corruption will sometimes happen.
Without seeing more, this is all just a guess, but if you find that corrupt inodes are what you're running into, here are some notes from when I've had to fix this myself:

Local direct-connect mounts via USB, Firewire, SDXC card, optical media, etc., will be automounted immediately provided that the filesystem of the attached media is recognized, such as Apple HFS, MS FAT, HSFS and other optical media formats. A problematic but common format is NTFS, default for modern Windows systems, since MacOS X does not handle it by default and will need third-party additions to be used, especially if password-protected.
Remote mounts such as Windows SMB shares or Unix NFS volumes need to be manually mounted. In the Finder's menus, see the Go/Connect to server... option.

I was thinking of writing a patch for skvm to use DeviceKit. How does DeviceKit compare to HAL? any obvious deficiencies or whatnot? I've not looked into this at all yet. I'll look into the code to see if I can get any ideas

Errors when creating First Volume on XSAN. Cannot Initialize

Hi. I'm having trouble with creating my first Volume in XSan.
My Setup consist of :
1x XRAID with 4disks in Upper Controller(1-7 disks)
Configured as 2x Stripe RAID. Each of them is 927GB.
LUN 0 = 927GB
LUN 1 = 927GB
1x SilkWorm 3250 8port Fiber Switch
1x Apple XServe (Dual 2Ghz, 3GB RAM) running Mac Os X Server 10.4.7
Serves as Controller for XSAN.
XSan 1.3 Build 8M116
Xsan Client Version 2.7.200 Build 92.1
Xsan Server Version 2.7.200 Build 92.1
My following setup is causing errors :

Well, at first.
But I moved 2x of the disks to the second controller.
So my setup as now, 2x disks on the first, and 2x on the second controller.
Make a Volume, Make a Storage Pool for the MetaData containing the disks on the first controller.
Then I make a Data Storage Pool containing the disks on the second controller.
And I get the same errors over, and over again.
What I really find interesting, is this error :

If I do, ps -ax I cannot see any running process of "fsm"
only "fsmpm".
Any thoughts? This is getting really really boring.

How to print formated data/report on client's printer (Web Application)

Hi All
I want to print some formatted data/report ( it might be 1000 pages) on user's printer.
Application is web based
Technology used are Java - jsp - servlets
i want functionality like...
when user click on print button/link, data is fetched from server and all pages (it is formated data so i want alignment on page while printing) should be printed one after another.
Also printer selection dialog should displayed one time when user click on print button/link.
Questions:
1. How i will transfer all data to client (web browser) from the server ??
2. And how i can print that data on user's printer ??
There is requirement (or limitation) that I can not use applet for this purpose.
And also it is not fix that we must use java tech., we can use any othere tech. but condition is that it must support multiple platform (in short platform indipendant)
There is solution like ...
I can use window.print() function of DOM/JavaScript,
but it prints only one page which is displayed on browser.
I don't want to display any page. and want to print all pages.
if any one done or have idea then let me know.

when i give a print from client machine first time it gives the record,and next time it did not get refresh.Always it shows the previous records in the browser.But when i go into the server machine and click on temp.xml,it shows the current record(correct records)

You never delete a Time Machine backup by dragging it to the Trash. You are supposed to use the TM application to manage the backups. What you will need to do now is to simply erase the drive using Disk Utility.

If you have a customizing table, there are still two possibilities.
1. customize in DEV system and transport
2. customize right there where you need it.
this depends on how the maintainance view is built. If it is a simple customizing table and you get not asked for a TR when customizing a new record or changing an existing one, you hit possibility 2.

You can't. Apple's share button only supports Apple Mail (as specified by launching Apple Mail, choosing preferences and choosing general.). Maybe Apple will open this up to other apps in future updates.

How do I increase volume significantly

I have video I recorded on VHS tape from tv, transferred it to DVD, and onto my iMac, into iMovie. I want to upload these to YouTube, but the volume is very low. I know how to double the volume, but would like to still make it much higher. I suppose I could double it within Inspector, duplicate the project, and go through the same process to double it again (assuming that works), but is there an easier way?

Another thing to try:
Use Share/Export Using QuickTime.
Select an audio only codec such as MP3 or AAC.
Open the resulting file in GarageBand. You can increase the volume, but you will also be amplifying the noise, so maybe GB can help with this.
Export from GB to iTunes..
You can then drag the audio track back into your project from the music browser.

How to create the above Fiscal period & Client Calender

I want to create Client Factory Calendar in BI System.
Source is MS SQL DB(UD Connect) not ECC.
I got the below information from the Business Group:
For the moment we need to implement the Client Calendar. So periods should be according to Client Fiscal Periods. We do not need to implement public holidays, as they donu2019t affect periods.
Client periods always contain complete weeks, starting Monday, finishing Sunday. Periods contain the following number of weeks: 5-4-4-5-4-4-5-4-4-5-4-4.
Please calsri fy the below:
>> Holiday calender is not required. but w/o holiday calender how we can define Factory calendor? Is it possible?
>> How to define the fisacl periods?.
>> When can we use these fiscal periods in the Factory Calender?.
Please provide me step wise procedures..how to create the above Fiscal periods & Client Calender.
