How to avoid the"Saving iTunes Library" dialog

I have been experience this issue for a couple of weeks now, the only information that i found online regarding this was related to an antivirus, but i never used any ativirus. if there any other reason why itunes is doing this?
My library is only 38Gb, i'm also using TM since Leopard debut (i can't remember when it was), but i never had this problem before and what's annoying me is that my Mac is useless while is showing this little message.
Any possible way to avoid it?
Thanks.

The only way is to search in Windows and look at the Size & Date Modified fields.
Are you searching ALL your hard drives, even external ones?
Are your Windows Explorer folder options set to hide system folders? Hide file extensions? You will need to uncheck both those options for the search to be useful.

  • How to have the same iTunes library on a laptop and a desktop and be able to sync an iPod and iPhone to each one

I currently have iTunes 10 build 10.6.1.7 on my Win 7 home premium 64 bit laptop.  I used this computer as my desktop for a few months until I rebuilt my old desktop.  Now I want to put iTunes on the new desktop Win 7 64 bit computer.  I have both an Piod Classic 80 gig and an iPhone 4 16 gig.  Do to space limitations, I only sync a few of the items in the library with the iPhone.  I sync the entire library with the iPod.
I want to be able to have the same library on both the laptop and desktop and sync both devices as descrbed above.  Is this possible?  If not possible, what is the reason for being able to have up to five machines auithorized for iTunes?  I'm thinking that it h as something to do with the apple ID, but I'm not sure.
If I can't do this as I've described, what is the best way to accomplish something similar?
BTW, iTunes on the laptop says version 10.6.3 is available, but when I click download, nothing happens.  How do I fix this?
I've always found iTunes to be vrey confusing.
    Thanks for your advice.

Is it possible to have an Iphone and an IPAD on the same Itunes account on a PC?
    yes.
the number of mobile devices you can use with a single instance of iTunes is virtually unlimited.

  • Recent computer crash but saved data of harddrive that is now local drive in new PC. How do I access my saved itunes library in what is now a local drive? and

Recently had a PC crash. All data and information on hard drive was saved and reinstalled in new PC as a local drive. How do I access the saved music library that exsists onwhat is now a local drive in the new PC. My itunes account only shows purchased songs. I know my saved library is here, but I can't figure out how to access and get the saved library on itunes.

Locate the iTunes folder from the user profile on the rescued drive, typically at X:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes. Delete the "empty" iTunes library from your current User's Music folder and copy in the originial library in its place.

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

  • I just changed the OS from Vista to Windows7.  I have a folder on the same computer with the old iTunes library.  I installed a new version of iTunes from scratch.  How do I move my music library, etc from that backed up folder into the new iTunes folder.

I need help with moving my music library.
I recently upgraded the OS on my computer from Vista to Windows7.
During the process it copied my iTunes library to a folder on this same computer (marked it Windows.old)
Once the OS was done, I installed a new copy of iTunes on the Windows7 but it now has a blank library (folder)
How do I move my music from its current folder location (on this same computer) into the new iTunes library folder ???
There don't seem to be specific instructions on how to do this.

My situation may be different from yours since all mu music is ripped from cd's not bought from iTunes, but I would think the premise is the same.
Doesn't matter what is in your library.
When I moved computers I literally dragged and dropped the music where I wanted it to be. THen when I opened iTunes I imported the files back into iTUnes
This creates a new library with all the same items but you lose a lot of info: Ratings, comments, date added, custom EQ, playlists, etc.
If you simply copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder, it is the exact same library, not a new library. No info is lost.

  • After upgrading recently I got this message: "The file 'iTunes Library.itl' cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes." The music/video files are still on my MacBook Pro.  Is it because I'm still on 10.5.8?  How do I fix this?

For your reference I’m using a MacBook Pro running 10.5.8.  Several weeks ago on a Monday I received an upgrade for iTunes. When Tuesday arrived I attempted to log in so that I could download the latest freebie song(s).  I was met w/this message: “The file ‘iTunes Library.itl’ cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.”
The music/video files are still on my Mac (I’ve verified that via Searchlight), but I’m unable to open the program.  Since I know that 10.5.8 is rapidly becoming prehistoric, could it be that the newest iTunes isn’t compatible w/this particular OS?  I’d like to switch up, but understand that the newest OS won’t work on a Mac of this vintage (6 years old).  In addition, my Adobe products (all CS2) won’t work w/anything newer than 10.5.8, so I’m reluctant to go to a newer OS (I just can’t afford the Adobe upgrade $$$ @ this point).
Is there any way to get a download of an “old” iTunes version?  If there were, I’d simply refuse any future upgrades until my personal economy allows me to stop working as if it were 2006.  Please advise, somebody!

I don't know how you received an upgrade for iTunes.  You make it sound like it was sent to you.  At most your computer will tell you of a new version and you tell it to download it and install it.  However, a computer will not do this for a version which is incompatible.  iTunes 10.7 came out a few weeks ago but your computer would not notify you and even if it did, 10.7 would refuse to install on your computer.  So this part isn't making a lot of sense.
Two ways to get the 'newer version' message.  One is to open your library on a computer running a newer version, and then try to open it with an older version.  Usually happens when the library is on an external and used with multiple computers.  The second way is if you have multiple versions of itunes installed on your computer.
The newest (and likely the last) iTunes for OSX 10.5.8 is iTunes 10.6.3 which has been out for quite a while.

  • How do I import an iTunes library from an external drive if that drive has been simply removed from a dead computer, without prior measures being taken to ensure it is possible to transfer the library over?

Basically, my issue here is, I had a fully functioning iTunes on my previous Acer laptop which I used to store my music for my iPhone, I have over 2000 songs on this iTunes and as the laptop suddenly died due to motherboard failure, there was no way to follow out the instructions given by apple on how to properly transfer one iTunes library to another.
The only source of music I have comes from source files on the HDD, which, stupidly I chose to organise myself.
A large quantity of this music was deleted from the iTunes library but stayed on the HDD in the source folders (I do not know why)
By simply dragging my music folder from my HDD to a new iTunes, all the files do go over, however many of them are duplicated (due to 320>120 bit rate MP3 creations) and a number of them are simply not wanted.
Is there a way to transfer my old library straight into this new one? bearing in mind I have all the program files and everything that had iTunes running on my old computer stored onto this USB drive?
    Thank you!

When I have done this, all I did was network the two machines and copy the contents of the iTunes folder to the other machine, and that's it.
My understanding (which may not be 100% correct) is that the one file that is absolutely necessary is iTunes Library, and that the XML file is actually a copy auto-generated from the iTunes Library, appearing in a different format only for non-iTunes apps that take advantage of the iTunes Library data.
As far as I know, if you simply have the Library (database) file and all your original music files, iTunes on that computer should operate as it did on your old computer. I believe that the Album Artwork, Genius Data, and XML files can be regenerated from the Library file. Not sure about the Extras file.

  • How do I transfer my iTunes library from an old, slow pc laptop to a newer faster pc laptop? Do I have to take a copy of my iTunes library on the hard drive of the old(er) pc laptop and load it onto the hard drive of my new(er) pc laptop?

How do I transfer my iTunes library from an old, slow pc laptop to a new(er), faster pc laptop? Do I have to make a copy of the iTunes library on the old pc laptop and re-install it on the new(er) pc laptop? Is it something that can de done using the actual iPod itself?

This is the method I would normally recommend:
Backup with this User Tip, restore the library to the new computer using the same tool, keep the backup up-to-date in future. Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer need to access protected content on it.
You can use your iPod classic to move your library to a new computer but if you don't already have a backup copy of the library (and your other important data) now is the time to think about it.

The Appe Store will do this for you.

You can type "move itunes library from pc to mac" or similar into the google search bar.
All will get the same thing accomplished.

I regret to say that you need a new computer. That G5, as good as it still is, simply cannot run the required software to be used with the latest iPhones and other software.
