How to backup all the oracle database?
We build serveral database on the Oracle 8.0.5 for Linux. The
Linux machine will be re-install in the near future. It is
necessary to backup the databases.
After the new Linux machine is set up, we plan for installing the
latest oracle version, and rebuild the database and their data.
How to backup and restore the database?

To take a cold backup, shutdown the database. Then use the "tar"
command to backup all of the files that make up the database.
You should also backup the config.ora, and the initxxxx.ora
files.

How to backup database using sql query?
Hello,i'm student, i'm researching oracle database,i want to backup database that using sql query (like backup query in SQL SERVER) ,how to do that ??
Thank! No, database backups cannot be done from within the database.
Commands for backups are outside of the database.

How Migrate MySql Database to Oracle
Hi...
I like Migrate MySql Database to Oracle, can help me?
AlexandreI am trying to migrate a MySql to an Oracle database. I have not had any problem setting up the migration workbench.
What I am having a problem with is copying the source database to the Oracle DB - I have verified that the host name is correct - and the MySql is at the default 3306 port number.
What my problem is that the root user on the Linux server is not the user with DBA priviliges - instead a user called admin is the user on the linux box that has DBA priviliges.
Is my only way around trying to get the root user assigned DBA priviliges in order for this extract to succesfully happen - and if so, how do I go about assigining DBA priviliges on the MySql database to the root user?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks -

How to backup database using RMAN on another server's tape?
Dear All,
Please give me an advise what parameters I should set up in RMAN to backup database on another server's tape.
Best wishies,
GiviI am connected to the database server from the server
where I have tape, but Rman is searching tape on
database server.I am not sure I understabd the above statement, but at the Operating System Level, you must ensure that from the Server you are running RMAN, it is configured to see the Tape Drive of the other Server. Once the Remote Tape is mounted with any name (say sbt) on the Local Server (however it is done with), then RMAN can configure the channels to use it.
If you cannot get this access at the Operating System Level, then do not bother trying RMAN to access it. -

How to backup Oracle Database Single Instance using RMAN
Folks,
Hello. I am using Oracle Database Server 11gR1 with Operating System Oracle Linux 5.10.
I understand how to backup database instance in SQL Server with Windows. But don't really understand how to backup database instance in Oracle with Linux.
I have done Cold backup and Hot backup for the database instance HRCS90 but both get the same error message.
Cold backup is below:

While the database instance HRCS90 is startup, I do hot backup using the same commands and get the same error message with above cold backup.
My question is:
Can any folk tell me the specific steps (command by command) to backup a single database instance in Oracle using RMAN ?
Thanks.Folks,
Hello. Thanks a lot for replying. My database instance named HRCS90 is going to be backed up. My backup directory is /backup_Database_Instance_HRCS90.
If database in open state, we must back up in archive log. If database in mount state but not open, we can back up in noarchive log.
I have tried to back up HRCS90 in archive and noarchive log when database in mount state but not open as below:
SQL>startup mount;
SQL>exit

RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ORA_DISK_1 channel at 12/01/2013 17:56:51
ORA-19504: failed to create file "/backup_Database_Instance_HRCS90/full_0coqeia5_12_1"
ORA-27040: file create error, unable to create file
Linux-x86_64 Error: 13: Permission denied
As we see the above last 2 commands, either archive or noarchive, I get the same error:
Archive: ORA-19504: "failed to create file /backup_Database_Instance_HRCS90/full_0boqei2c_11_1"
Noarchive: ORA-19504: "failed to create file /backup_Database_Instance_HRCS90/full_0coqeia5_12_1"
My question is:
What is the file "full_0boqei2c_11_1" or "full_0coqeia5_12_1" ? How to solve the above error ?
Thanks. -
How to create new database in oracle 9i
how to create database in oracle 9i and create all table, trigger and fun/stored procedure in it?
one more thing is that how to assign connection with JSP. i need code if possible.Roop.IT.Tech wrote:
how to create database in oracle 9i and create all table, trigger and fun/stored procedure in it?Read the docs that come along with the database. This has nothing to do with JDBC.
one more thing is that how to assign connection with JSP. i need code if possible.Create a DAO class which does all the JDBC task. Then create a servlet class which has an instance of the DAO class. In the doGet() or the doPost() do your DAO thing, store the result in the request scope and forward the request to a JSP. In the JSP file use JSTL/EL to display the data to the world. -
How to import sql server database into oracle
Hi,
i have a backup of database(complete) from sql server, Is there any way to import that backup database into oracle environment.
Please let me know the process
Thanks
Naren$No. You cannot simply import binary data files from a 3rd party database directly into Oracle.
You can use bcp on SQL-Server to unload the data to CSV and then use Oracle's SQL*Loader to load it.
You can run a SQL-Server database instance and an Oracle database instance, and use a heterogeneous database link from Oracle (working via ODBC) to connect to SQL-Server - and use SQL statements to pull object definitions and data from SQL-Server into Oracle. -
