How To Boot Windows 7 from Windows 7 DOS Prompt?

I got hit by the GVU virus.  Spent a week poking around and made some interesting discoveries!
The GVU virus appears to lock you out of your computer always going to a page in german demanding 100 euros to restore it.
If you reboot while pressing F8 you can get to the debug page which lists several options including boot to DOS prompt.
Select this option.
Windows 7 will boot and ask you to login.  Do this.
Your computer will now go to the DOS prompt.
On a second computer I installed an up to date copy of Spybot.  Using explorer I found the Spybot directory tree under Program files and copied it to a jump drive.
Remove the jump drive from the second computer and insert it in your sick computer.
On the sick computer you are at the DOS Prompt. Type explorer and press enter.
A window will open similar to windows 7 explorer.  Right clicks will not work, but you will find all the usual right click menu items under Files and Edit on the menu bar.
Click View then Refresh to display your jump drive.  You may have to do this a couple of times, but your jump drive will appear in the usual spot.
Select the spybot directory on your jump drive and launch spybot.  Run a systems scan and delete every thing it finds.  Do this step Several times.
Reboot your computer.
Select Boot windows as normal.
It will ask you to login in. Do so.
Your computer will boot to explorer, the version that you saw in step 9.
Press CTL + ALT + Delete then select Task Manager
Task Manager will launch.  If you click the process tab you will see only ten or so processes are running.
Click on the applications tab, then in the bottom right corner click on the button New Task.
Type win and press enter.
You will notice that the number of processes will jump to 90 give or take.  When CPU use drops to 5% again or there abouts click new task again.
You are now in windows 7 minus the task bar but with networking etc.
Enter a windows program such as Outlook and press enter.  Outlook will boot and run perfectly.  I suspect that most windows programs will also run perfectly.
I know if you boot from your windows 7 DVD you can repair your system to normal.  My question is can I do this without the disk?  At this point I can do all my usual tasks, just without the convenience of the task bar and start button.  I
am in the middle of unpacking from a move, cannn't find my Windows 7 install disk.  I am so close to getting this computer back to running normally but I am not sure what to do next.  Can someone help?

I am switching to Apple macbook pro from Windows laptop.  Is Apple compatible with Microsoft Office?  How can I transport from Windows to Mac?  What I have saved on external hardrives, will I be able to open it on Mac?

Is Apple compatible with Microsoft Office?
Any computer is compatible as long as it can read and write Office files. But for perfect (or at least near perfect) compatibility, you would want to purchase Office 2011 for Mac.
How can I transport from Windows to Mac?
You can't directly transport any installation of Windows. All PC's come with a machine specific version of Windows intended for that PC. They don't have all of the hardware drivers the retail disks cover.
If you want Windows on your Mac, you would first purchase a full version copy (NOT an upgrade disk) of Windows 7 or 8. Those are the only supported versions on newer Macs. You install it through the supplied Boot Camp utility that comes with the Mac to create a new partition for Windows, and then install the retail copy of Windows you purchased.
The reason only these versions of Windows are supported is the same basic reason as a machine specific version of Windows for a PC. Apple only includes the necessary Mac hardware drivers for Win 7 or 8 on new Macs.
Once Windows is installed, you could then install the version of Office for Windows you already own. The nuisance of a Boot Camp partition is that you have to physically boot to either Windows or OS X, so you can only use the apps of the OS you're in at the time. To use both at once, you'd have to use virtual machine software (Parallels, VMware, VirtualBox) and then install Windows within that. Then you'd be able to run Windows inside of OS X and have access to both at the same time.

How do I switch from Windows to mac on a macmini?

    Hi,
I assume you are talking about a BootCamp Windows, right ?
If so, usually you hold down the Alt/Option-key at startup of your Mac to get the Boot Selection screen.
There you can choose which Operating System to boot into.
Once in OSX you might wanna go to System Preferences - Startup Volume and set your OSX to be the default.

how to transfer files from windows 7 pc to my new macbookpro

You can use your external hard drive that is used to backup your important data to transfer the data from your PC to your Mac.
If your Windows 7 PC is a laptop and you live near an Apple store, make an appointment at the Genius bar where they will help you transfer the data you want transferred from your PC to your MBP.

Office for Mac, http://www.microsoft.com/mac/products, can open/edit/create Office documents. If your external drive is formatted NTFS then you can copy the Office documents to your computer and work on them. You won't be able to save the files back to your NTFS formatted drive. But you will be able to save the documents to your internal drive. You can move all the external files to your internal drive then format the external drive for Apple. Then you can copy the files back to your external drive for ongoing use.

    Hi!
This depends on your EP release.
For Basis release 6.40 (EP6) there should be an UNINSTSAP.EXE somewhere in your SAP-Filesystem which you need to run. Take care with the options you have, you might delete even the OS-Users (even on the domain) if you just click away without reading.
For Basis release 7.00 (EP7) you call sapinst and select 'uninstall' under 'Additional Software Lifecycle tasks'. This will guide you through the process of uninstallation.
If these operations fail you can manually clean the system by removing the files and cleaning the registry. This is only a sort of last resort though.

  • HT1296 How to transfer photos from windows XP to IPad2

Want to know how to transfer photos from windows xp to IPad2

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • Executing a JAVA program from a DOS prompt vs the START = RUN dialog

Another novice programmer question...I hope you have the patience...
I have a demo JAVA program that runs fine on my Windows PC when I execute it from a DOS prompt:
    K:\COMMON\ITS\STEVEB\java\WhileDemo>java WhileDemo
    Count is: 1
    Count is: 2
    Count is: 3
    Count is: 4
    Count is: 5
    Count is: 6
    Count is: 7
    Count is: 8
    Count is: 9
Count is: 10Can I run this same command from the Windows START => RUN dialog? If I cut an paste the same command, 'K:\COMMON\ITS\STEVEB\java\WhileDemo>java WhileDemo', into the START => RUN dialog I get the following error:
"Windows cannot find 'K:\COMMON\ITS\STEVEB\java\WhileDemo>java WhileDemo'. Make sure you have typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button and then click Search."
Is what I'm attempting to do even possible? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Will a .JAR keep the window from closing on exit? Nope... creating java-archives (jar's) is just the next step down the "how to publish my java application" road. You will eventually (almost certainly) need to progress that far... but there's no rush.
Compiling to and running from class files will do for now.
If you want a command prompt which stays open then open it yourself... Start ~ run: cmd (on NT, XP, Fista)

  • Upgrading Windows from Windows XP to Windows 7

    Dear Sirs,
My company is upgrading windows from Windows XP to Windows 7 in clients' computer. We have found that an application which had been developed by vb .net (framework 1.0/1.1) has a problem when printing report (crystal report 9.0). An error "query engine error......" will throw during printing.
We have already setup the crystal report 9.0 runtime in the client's computer. However, the problem still exists. I have read some similar problem on web and I know that it should be the engine problem when fetching data from dataset to rpt file. Currently the version of crdb_adoplus.dll is 9.1.0.24 (not 9.1.0.30) for the crystal report runtime.
Although I have known the problem, I cannot find an exact solution for the case........may you suggest a configuration/setup step for solving the case?
    Thank you very much.
    All the Best,
    Albert

Hi, thanks a lot for your help again.
I have tried to setup the crystal report 9.2 runtime (downloaded from http://www.randem.com/crsupport.html) and it works. However, I am not sure if it is a valid way to do so. Is that SAP does not provide such runtime? (I can just find the merge modules for crystal report 9 and I don't know how to work on it.....)
    Thanks a lot.

d:\projects\src> javac package1/abc.javaThis should get you abc.class in the package1 directory.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to boot leopard from cd?

    Hey guys,
Maybe a silly question, but I need to know how to boot leopard from its insallation dvd, is that possible?
I would like to boot my mac from dvd, so that i can then use the disk utility to partition my internal hard drive, and i think this is only possible if you dont boot from the hd it self.
Obviously I am able to boot from the dvd in the way that it starts the leopard installation, but thats not what i need i guess? at least when the installation start, i dont see an option to start disk utility from there?
so i need to actually boot the system from the dvd, in order to partition "on the fly" without losing the data on my disk.
    I hope someone knows.
    thanks in advance.
    cheers,

    Hi,
Boot from the Install disc. Select the Language. Then as soon as the menu bar appears you'll see a Utilities Menu. Select Disk Utility from there.
    cheers

  • How can I recover from Windows login failure: User Profile Service failed the login

I have Boot Camp installed on a separate partition on a MacBook Pro, late 2011 model. I have Mavericks installedd (10.9.1). I use, variously, both Parallels and VM Fusion to access the BootCamp installation of Windows 7.
Except for having recently installed updates of both VMFusion and Parallels, I got this failure message when trying to login to Windows:: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.
I had just been on Windows a few moments previously to access a business site that only accepts IE. Appreciate any useful insight on dealing with this issue without having to totally replace the BootCamp installation. A lot of the suggestions on Microsoft Windows repair sites are either incomprehensible or don't seem applicable.

Same problem here. Windows 7 support gives several so-called fixes (including regedit tweaks, eliminating the blocked user account), but all require access to that partition. So far as I know, I have only one user, since this is my personal computer -- unless there is some sort of default "administrator" logon.
Windows support says the problem might be caused by antivirus software running while we try to logon, but this problem has never happened to me before, and I have not made anti-virus changes (maybe AVG or Avast did so automatically)
I tried to access regedit through Finder, but get a garbled text-edit with the message that regedit cannot be opened by DOS.
So I wonder (a) is there a default admin logon? (b) Can we tinker with the settings inside Windows from Finder, or (c) how else can we get into Windows?
My setup: Macbook Pro (Fall 2010), 10.6.8, boot camp, Windows 7.
