You adjust your image in Photoshop using the image size dialog box. You should also crop your image in Photoshop if necessary.
Make sure Resample Image is off. This will give the same results as scaling the placed image in Illustrator.
You are asking some extremely basic questions which can all be answered with just a few minutes in the help files. You should invest in a few lessons on LInda.com or take some free ttorials on tv.adobe.com. Or buy a decent book such as Adobe’s Classroom in a Book.

  • How to bring these pictures to front?

    How to get these pictures to front?
    As the attachement showing, I have used the "bring to front" option. I also used "send to back" on the blue box. There is no text wrapping on.
    For some reason my images and text now have green and red frames on them, they used to be blue I think, no clue why they changed, or what it means.

    Hi Kamos,
    InDesign displays a different color for selection for different layers. Since you mention that you see some objects with green and some with red selection I am sure this is because your object lie on different layers. In this case an object on lower layer cannot be brought over an object lying on the layer above it. You can move the lower layer over the top layer or you can cut the object from lower layer and then select the layer on which your other object lies and 'paste in place' the object.
    You can change the layers by opening the layers palette (Window>Layers)

  • How to bring a .jpg into an open PSD file as a layer & smart object

    Note: Posted in MAC section also.
    Goal:
    Using a script - Bring a .jpg an artist chooses, into Photoshop in an existing project into its own layer, and make it a smart object.
    This way, when the artist double-clicks on the smart object in Photoshop, it opens the original .jpg
    Currently, doing this creates a new window and file - a temp file, called xxx.psb.
    Photoshop does this by default to prevent destructive editing.  However, in this case, we purposely want to open the original.
    Why?  the .jpg files are approved art by the organization.
    Here is the script I did and have working in JavaScript.  (Has to be js because it will run on MAC's)
    Currently, it creates a NEW file.  I want it, however to create the SO as a layer in the existing open file.
    In JS: (has to be js for MAC's)
    var idOpn = charIDToTypeID( "Opn " );
        var desc4 = new ActionDescriptor();
        var idnull = charIDToTypeID( "null" );
        desc4.putPath( idnull, new File( "C:\\Users\\jleahy\\Desktop\\JPG_Meeting.jpg" ) );
        var idsmartObject = stringIDToTypeID( "smartObject" );
        desc4.putBoolean( idsmartObject, true );
    executeAction( idOpn, desc4, DialogModes.NO );

    I'm half way there, but stuck at:
    Getting a file location reference when the .jpg is first brought into PS as a layer.
    Getting a script to write the location of the file into the medata for the PSD in some field
    Reading back the metadata file location for the .jpg and bringing it back into the PSD again.
    Any help would really be appreciated.
    I can make the completed script(s) available when its complete, as this has possibilities for other uses, batch process, and more.

  • How to import color palette into illustrator

    Since I am new to illustrator, I have a very simple question. I have a color palette from my company. This is the company colors. I would like to input these colors into the color palette of illustrator so I use those colors for our designs, etc. What is one way to do this?

    Might be better to open the JPEG in Photoshop and create swatches there. Then you can export those swatches as ASE which you can then load into Illustrator.
    In Illustrator you can include those swatches in a document profile. which you can then base your files upon.

  • How to import a picture into a Psd file using codes?

    I'm trying to import a picture into a psd file as a new layer, but i can't find the method of photoshop object in visual studio 2010 object browser. Is it possible to do this job using vb.net codes?
    Any suggestion will be gratuated!

    I beleive Michael L Hale stated that he used the ScriptListener to generate code for PhotoShop "menu File>Place".  Many things can not be done through in Photoshop Scripting through the Adobe's normal scripting methods Adobe provided for scripting.  However Adobe also supplied  the ScriptListener.8li plugin which when installed is a bit like the actions palette's action recorded without controls.  Everthing that can be recorded in Photoshop is written to two files on your desktop in script code one in Javascript the other VBS.  The Script code use an Action Manager Method so thing not posible with normal scripting methods can be use in scripts.  The only way to start and stop recording these two script files it to install ScriptListener.8li before you start Photoshop and to uninstall it after you exit Photoshop. Awarkward but better then nothing there is no logic just step, step, step like actions and the code is not all that readable.  However you can take that code and modify it to use vars to turn steps into javascript functions and whatever VBS uses.
    For example Place

    DIM objApp
    SET objApp = CreateObject("Photoshop.Application")
    REM Use dialog mode 3 for show no dialogs
    DIM dialogMode

  • How to bring oracle function into ODI

    Hi,
    I have a oracle function which I have to bring into ODI, could you please let me know how to do that?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Supreeth

    Hi Supreeth ,
    Before invoking a stored procedure from Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), run it outside ODI (i.e. SqlPlus), on the database, using the same database user as entered in the ODI Topology for this connection and make sure it is working properly .
    Then, when invoking the stored procedure from Oracle Data Integrator (ODI):
    1. Create an ODI Specific Procedure.
    2. Insert a step and, in the "Technology" drill down box, choose the appropriate RDBMS. Leave the context to "<Execution Context>".
    3. The precise syntax for calling RDBMS stored procedures in ODI may vary from one Technology to another one.
    For Oracle technologies, the syntax is as follows:
    BEGIN
    <%=odiRef.getObjectName (pMode, My_Procedure, pLogicalSchemaName, pContextName, pLocation)%> (MY_PARAM1, MY_PARAM2...);
    END;
    where
    * My_Procedure - is the stored procedure name
    * MY_PARAM1, MY_PARAM2... - are stored procedure parameter values
    * pMode, pLogicalSchemaName, pContextName, pLocation - are parameters of the getObjectName Substitution Method.
    At my Oracle instance I have a function called MY_FUNCTION
    So my syntax would be
    <%=odiRef.getObjectName ("L","MY_FUNCTION","D")%>
    Thanks,

  • How do you Combine Pictures into one Photo

    I'm really re.tarded when it comes to this stuff.
    I want to take 4 pictures and combine them, making like a montage and I have no clue how to do that.
    Message was edited by: S.E.S.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Did your computer happen to have come with OmniGraffle? It is an amazing application and can create a collage very easily like this one I made out of 96 photos.
    If it didn't come with your computer it's demo mode it will let you work with up to 10 items on a page.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
    Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How can I import pictures into an existing event?

    I am loading up my new MAC with various photos on CDs and would like to be able to import them into specific existing events, instead of creating a new event and dragging it to merge with another. How can I do this?  If not, is there an easy way to merge events without dragging from one end of the list to another - hard when you have a couple of hundred events.

    You can't.  All import will go into a new event.  Then you can drag that event onto the Event you want to put the photos in and that will merge the two.

  • How to bring life back into your Crippled Verizon DVR

    Well, since Verizon DVR's come preshipped with all of the storage ports disabled, and the internal drive gets full of HD recorded shows in about a week, I decided to investigate what exactly can be done to get around this.  It's obvious they don't care about their customers with this issue, because as I have found on google, people have been complaining about this for years.  I can find posts that date back to 2006 with previous generation motorola boxes that also have every storage port purposely disabled.
    HOWEVER...thanks to our good friends at the FCC...
    The FCC has mandated that all cable boxes *MUST* have their firewire ports enabled.
    What does that mean for us end users?
    Well, if you connect the firewire port on any Verizon box to a computer, and install some hacked drivers, you can capture shows directly from your computer.
    If you already bought an external storage drive and found out that it was useless due to Verizon's policies, you are NOT screwed!
    All you have to do is plug that storage into the computer and use the DVHS Capture program and save shows to there.
    If anyone would like to find out more information about this, and download the drivers and capture program, go to this website:
    http://home.comcast.net/~exdeus/stbfirewire/
    I have the newer 7216 box, and even though it is not listed as being compatible on that site, it works perfectly.
    The only problem is that some shows cannot be captured due to 5C copy protection...it basically encrypts the firewire stream on certain shows depending on what area you are in.
     I have heard that some areas do not use any 5C encryption on any channel at all, so you should be free to record whatever content you want directly to your computer's storage.
    The format outputted by the firewire port is MPEG-2 I believe.  It's good enough, and yes, it is in HD.
     How to do this briefly:
    1.) Buy a firewire cable
    2.) Connect back of STB to your laptop / desktop's firewire port (You may have to purchase a firewire card if you have an older computer)
    3.) When windows says it's found a new device, follow the instructions on that website I linked you to to point to the right drivers.
    4.) Turn the channel to whatever show you want captured
    5.) Open the CapDVHS program, and press record
     If the content is encrypted, the information section will be blank, and when you try to play back the video, it won't play.
    If it's not encrypted, there will be stream info, and it should be able to get played back fine.
    Keep in mind, if you are recording HD content, it fills up space FAST!  Get an external hard drive.
    I recommend esata..it's faster than usb or firewire, and they seem to be more reliable.
    Hopefully no one will delete this post, because none of this is illegal, and people have the right to actually use the equipment they pay for how they want to, within the law, regardless of what features the service provider has enabled or disabled.

    Very interesting. I don't really save a lot of the shows I record, but this would be great for HD movies. An external drive is the best bet since I doubt older computers could transfer data fast enough for HD content. A nice 500GB or big TB drive should be plenty of storage space, unless you record everything.
    The best option for HD right now is downloading content and streaming it through an xbox 360 or ps3, if you're computer is fast enough to stream HD content. Mainly because you can download content that won't be available on tv for a year or 2. Personally I use an upconverting dvd player w/ hdmi, this makes DVD quality movies look very nice in HD. Even good quality divx/xvid movies are 10x better than the SD channels I have to watch currently.
    Once somebody makes a true digital media player capable of playing .flv files via streaming data, HDtv owners will be in heaven. I believe only 1 is capable of it right now, but the quality is subpar. In about 10 years cable and sattelite providers will have another competitor, internet TV providers. Data transfer is getting fast enough now that streaming compressed data over the internet to a media center is a viable option. But like I said, someone still needs to make a media player capable of decompressing HD data and outputting it through an hdmi cable.
