How to burn Quicktime movie to CD

hello- i need help. instructions on how to burn a quicktime movie to a cd. i exported an iphoto slideshow to quicktime so that i can share with family. now, i have a .mov file but don't know how to burn it to cd. do i need quicktime pro to do this? i appreciate any help. thanks

If you just want to burn it to a CD (or do you want this CD to play in a DVD player?) all you have to do is insert a blank CD, Choose to let the Finder handle it, drag and drop the file on the CD then drag and drop the file on the Trash (the Trash icon will change to a burn icon).

  • Pretty basic this, but I'm a total beginner.  Can anyone tell me (in simple steps!) how I burn a movie I bought in iMovies onto a DVD?  After I stick the DVD in, what happens then?  Sorry about the unsophisticated question.  Thanks.

  • How to export quicktime movie?

I was wondering how I can export a quicktime movie (camcorder film) to a smaller size but that can also be played on both Mac and PC computers? I tryed to export a couple time using encoding such as MPEG-4 but the movie accually was much smaller to view than the original and the second time I tryed to encode it at a bigger size, the movie played at the same sze as the original but at a lower quality because it was stretched.
Can anyone help me with this. I just want to export and save a quicktime movie into a playble formate for both mac and windows and also not taking up too much disk space either. Thank you.

One could write a book (I did) that explains what all the codecs do and where and when to use them.
You need only need to know where the file will be viewed and its source format.
As Rick has pointed out, most new digital cameras capture in DV (Digital Video) and they are nearly instantly ready for software editing (like iMovie). QuickTime Pro can also edit the .dv files.
Once you determine where the file will be viewed (the Web for example) you'll get an understanding of methods to "compress" the file to fit the planned playback.
Three major factors that reduce the file size:
The new dimensions (720X480 DV files) to Web 320X240 (DV uses rectangular pixels).
Reduce the "frame rate". If the source was 30 frames per second you can usually remove half of them (15fps). Use more fps if the source has lots of motion.
The codecs used. Compressor-decompressor is handled by the delivery format (.mov or .mp4). Some are more efficient and offer better quality when enlarged during playback. MPEG-4 is the most modern and will soon become the next generation of DVD (currently MPEG-2).
This is where your question can only be answered by you. The quality can be adjusted (some codecs offer "sliders"; good better best while others allow you to set a data rate) and only you know what is acceptable.
Rick suggests a "one minute" export and I agree. Use various settings and data rates and use your eyes to decide what is acceptable.
Don't forget that part of your capture was audio. If your camera captures only mono formats making the export into stereo does nothing but double the size of the audio track. The Advanced Audio Codec (AAC) format found in MPEG-4 exports does a great job of reducing the file size. You can control these settings at export, too.

  • How to copy Quicktime Movie to DVD

I took some movie clips on a Nikon L4 camera and saved them to my HP Pavillion as Quicktime movies. I would like to copy them to DVD to play on my DVD player. Can I do this and if so how? Do I need Quictime Pro?
HP Pavillion a1600n   Windows XP   using Nikon Coolpix L4

You will need third-party software that can create a video DVD (QuickTime Pro will not create a video DVD). I'm sure if you search the net for something like "Windows video DVD create" you'll come across numerous such products. You'll need to make sure that any product you choose can import QuickTime movies, or get conversion software that can convert a QuickTime movie to a format your DVD application can handle (QuickTime Pro might do this, but you'd probably find freeware apps that could also do the conversion).

  • How to make quicktime movie export interactive.

I've keynote 09 presentation that has images and videos inserted into it. I need to share this people across on internet. I've created quicktime .mov file for this. My file size comes roughly around 500MB. Everything is fine, only problem I see is when I play quicktime file on my mac mini it is interactive, so I click on mouse and it moves to next text or next slide. Whereas same file when I run on my Windows 7 machine it just keeps flying thru it without any interaction from user. Same thing happesn when I try to play quicktime file uploaded on vimeo or smugmug.com, file just flies thru all slides without any user interaction.
Is there a way where I can make my slideshow to be interactive ?
    thanks

The problem probably is because you are opening the QT movie with Windows Media Player
    Solution
Download Quicktime player to your windows 7 PC
Then right click the QT movie you made from keynote and select 'open with'
Then select quicktime (the QT player downloaded)
    Hope that helps

  • How to view Quicktime movie on iPad

    Hi,
I have the most recent iPad Air. Yesterday I took a video with my iPhone 4S. I emailed it to myself and some others, straight from the photos app. They were able to open it up on their computers. My iPad won't play it. When I click on the attachment, it just displays a grey screen saying "Video.MOV QuickTime Movie."
I searched and others with this problem seemed to have an issue playing other formats like WMV. This is straight from an iPhone. So I can't imagine the iPad should need a third party app for this. What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!

Try playing with free OPlayerHD Lite app.

  • How to play quicktime .mov files on iphone

I would like to be able to play quicktime (.mov) files on my iphone4s but I get a message that my file cannot be played on this iphone.
I created the file in keynote, exported it to a quicktime movie with the manual advance option.
My goal is to be able to use iphone to connect to a projector with a iphone to vga adapter and thus project my presentations from the iphone.
But I cannot import import it using itunes to the iphone.
Wondering if there is an app that plays quick time movies or some other option.
The reason I cannot export from keynote is that it does not give the option for manual advance.
It only provides a fixed time option.
    Appreciate any help
    thank you
    jac

  • I recently installed the new operating system.  iMovie doesn't seem to work the same as in Mountain Lion.  I can't figure out how to burn a movie to a DVD.  Has that feature been eliminated?

I am having difficulty figuring out how to burn my iMovie to a DVD.  Has that feature been eliminated?

unbelievable... the amount of RAM is the issue... I found a post (http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=8448) on an unrelated matter, but the user solved their issue under X64 by limiting the amount of RAM WinXP x64 was using by editing the boot.ini file.
The basis of the "trick" is to add " /maxmem=4096" to the end of your OS line, but I elected to copy the line and add it to a new entry so I could easily select which "mode" i wanted at boot.... like so...
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition()\WINDOWS="Window s XP Professional x64 Edition" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition()\WINDOWS="Window s XP Professional x64 Edition - X-Fi tweak" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /maxmem=4096
amazingly this solved my issue... but now my system properties only report 2Gb instead of 4Gb... unacceptable!
When Can I expect a fix for this Creative?

  • Burning Quicktime Movies to DVD

I have some movies that I am trying to combine into 1 long movie with songs/soundtrack. My questions are:
    1. Should I be creating this final product in QuickTime or should I use another program, especially for the transitions and soundtrack?
    2. If QuickTime is the solution, what is the best way to get it to a DVD that plays on home players? Is this where iDVD comes into play or should I use iMovie?
Yes I have searched, but have not found answers that specifically address what I am trying to do. Thank you in advance.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   17inch/2Ghz/1GB Memory/160GB Harddrive

    1. Should I be creating this final product in QuickTime or should I use another program, especially for the transitions and soundtrack? My personal opinion is that any editor application will do such things easier, faster, and probably better (especially if you are a novice) than working in QT Pro alone. While I have no qualms about using QT Pro for simple taks and respect QT Kirk's ability to turn out some spectacular results with QT alone, the integrated access and built-in capabilities of even iMovie would likely be hard to match by the average user -- especially if you want professional looking transitions; overlay the song audio with volume control, fade in/out, etc.; add titles, credits, special effects, or the like.
    2. If QuickTime is the solution, what is the best way to get it to a DVD that plays on home players? Is this where iDVD comes into play or should I use iMovie? No matter how you end up editing the actual content, a DVD authoring application is generally required to handle the routine actions of converting the edited content to an MPEG-2 video format, "mux" the audio contentem, create a menu if desired, as well as, the actual files in proper containers for the consumer DVD player to read/play. iDVD, DVDSP, Toast, or a number of manual utilities can perform these tasks. All current versions of these applications will readily accept any fully compatible QT compression format but for the best quality, you would normally import the DV format in which most editors natively operate and in which your edits are saved.

  • How to flatten Quicktime movie?

I have Quicktime 7 Pro. I used it to overlay an arrow image on top of my movie, and saved. I then emailed the movie to someone and discovered that when played, it keeps looking for the resource (the image that is on there) - apparently the arrow image is not included in the QT file I sent (which is weird because I deleted the image off my system, and still the movie shows the arrow on my computer, so it must have it somewhere else??). How do I "flatten" the movie file so that everything is in there and I can send that one file to others and they will see exactly what I see when I play the movie here? I tried the program "Lillipot" to flatten it and it didn't work - arrow still not visible in other players (although QT no longer complains about not being able to find it) - it deleted it maybe? I just want a self-contained movie file that has exactly what I see here. What's the right way to save/export/convert that?

Did you try saving it as a self-contained movie? That's one of the options.

  • How to join quicktime movie fragments from the terminal?

    Hello All,
I am looking for a way to join/concat .mov files into a single .mov file. We are currently using Quicktime Player to do this, but I am looking for a way to run the from a terminal in a script.(not AppleScript) How can I do this? Or if the easiest way to do this is with a short AppleScript/Droplet, how can I call that from a terminal and pass in the file list to concat?
    Thanks

Freeware MPEG Streamclip (http://www.squared5.com/) includes an easy-to-use batch join utility. It's not run in Terminal, of course, but it's simple.
