How to change battery charge settings in Windows 8

On my previous Thinkpads I could change the battery charging settings in Lenovo Power Manager. (things like minimum charging threshold, etc). Now in Windows 8 Lenovo seems to have abandonded the Power Manager, but there is still a power manager driver. Is it still possable to change the battery charging settings?

Make sure you have administrator rights..
you can try in changing registry setting as well. Do to that follow the steps-
1. click on start-> run-> type regedit
2. goto reg key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DriverSearching should have a DWORD value called "SearchOrderConfig"
3.Setting this to 0 selects "Never install driver software from Windows Update"
4.Setting this to 1 selects "Always install the best driver software from Windows Update"
5.Setting this to 2 selects "Install driver software from Windows Update if it is not found on my computer"

How can I disable "battery charging" function in windows 7? Is there any "advanced setting change" or "software" that while battery is in its slot, stop my notebook from charging its battery?

After some days trying many methods, yet I haven't find a solution to my problem. Then I ask is there any one
knows which software should I download for HP Compaq Power Management (similar to the software that Huffer
mentioned, but that was for Lenovo) or which registery or BIOS change should I do , so that I can manually disable
charging function of laptop, or at least put a starting level that up to that level, laptop won't start
autolatically to charge battery, because in this manner once that my Battery reaches to below 100%, instantly begin
to be charged & it would decrease its life time. Please consider that because of my power cable is to some damaged, sometimes it suddenly disrubt & cause my laptop abruptly shut down, then necessarily the battery would always be connected tob prevent this suddent effect.

How to change the security settings of tomcat5.0

hi i am new to servlets. i am using tomcat5.0 to run my servlets.i have created two web applications under webapps directorywith the names ourwa and new ourwa.as part of ourwa i have developed a servlet with name Caller that includes another servlet named Calle of newourwa. to do this i got the Servlet Context object newourwa with the code below
ServletContext application=getServletContext( );
ServletContext newapplication=getContext("/newourwa" );
and i included Calle servlet using this newApplication with the code below
RequestDispatcher rd=newapplication.getRequestDispatcher("/calle");
rd.include(request,response);
i am not getting the ServletContext object of newourwa. so i am getting null pointer exception while running the servlet Caller.
i read the documentation on servlet context inteface.there is a method with the name get Context( ).in this method they clearly specified that "in a security conscious environment this method returns null".
please help me by giving answers to the following questions:
1)wat is the alternative to dispatch the request from one application to another application?
2)how to change the seurity settings of tomcat5.0?

Hi, i own iPod shuffle 2nd and 4th generation. I used to use Sony and sennheiser earphones to listen to them. The problem is I cant get the maximum performance of the earphones on my iPod, unlike in laptop. It is because I can't adjust the Mid, Bass, and treble level in Shuffle. Does anyone knows how to change its equalizer settings?

You can't there are no equalizer settings on the Shuffle. Incidentally, if you are just wanting to boost the bass that is not getting the most performance from your headphones that is just making the bass abnormally loud.

I think it must be an IMAP account then, & in Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Advanced>Keep copies for Offline viewing:>Don't keep copies, then on the Server, or maybe it's just this one itself, but on the Server you have a setting to remove eMails after 30 days.
If it's a POP account we'd have to investigate that... but you didn't say so I'm guessing here.

How do I stop Citrix Receiver to stop changing my visual settings? (Windows 7 and 8)

My company uses Citrix Receiver to provide remote access to some LOB applications and network resources. I understand it to be a popular system in that market. Every time I use it, however, it drives me nuts by changing the visual settings on my computer
so that dragging a window results in an outline:
^this happens in Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. Probably any OS. I just want to know how to block a program from
causing it.
This isn't saving any bandwidth: this happens on my locally-running programs on my desktop: they aren't streaming anywhere. It's like Citrix is trying to take a bandwidth-saving action but applying it to the wrong end.
Even if this was proper behavior (which it absolutely can't be), it should respect the user and put it back when you close your remote connection. But it doesn't even do that.
This drives me insane. I've tried setting the display key in the registry to read-only. This prevents the checkbox in the visual effects page from changing, but doesn't actually block the change itself. After that happens, you have to go
into the effect settings, set it to to outlines (which it already is), apply, then correct it to full-window and apply again. But first you have to go allow permissions on the registry settings again, so you aren't saving any time or sanity
with that trick.
So seriously, is there any way to stop this? I've tried registry permissions and group policy settings. All seem to only block access to the options a user could use to change it, and not preventing the change from occurring.
I've petitioned Ctrix on their own forums too but I've received no replies in months.

I've done it before and I know it's different in the Side Bar and for the fonts in Column View or List View.
It doesn't seem to be in Finder Preferences.
I can't find in in System Preferences.
It's not in Font Book.

If you click the Action Gear you have the option to change font sizes. I am not sure if changing the font per se is possible without a system hack which I do not recommend.

How to change background color in small windows?

When I open an image to edit, the adjustable small windows, e.g., Navigator, size, opacty, all have a dark gray background that makes reading the number almost impossible. Surely I am doing something wrong but I'll be danged if I can figure out how to change that background. In fact, in the individual preferences also, e.g., Units & Rulers, the "adjustable" small windows (Column Size: width, gutter; New Document Preset Resolutions: print resolution, screen resolution) are also very dark.
I have used Elements for Windows for years and have just received Elements 8 for Mac and this is extremely frustrating. I appreciate your help and your patience as I try to sort this out and solved

I greatly appreciate the two responses above. However I think I may be out of luck. The first response doesn't seem to include the Mac operating system, which I am using, and the second may not have understood my problem - but I could not figure out how to follow the advice given using "preferences" to even try it. It appears to be a matter of terrible user-oriented design by Adobe. I have in fact started again using my earlier version on my old XP Windows machine, as my brand new version is essentially useless to me - I simply can't read the dark grey numbers on the dark grey "windows".

Windows is going to require a few more steps if ASE is running as a service.
Update all registry entries containing <servername> with <newservername>:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\SYBASE\Server

- obviously (?) any monitoring/maintenance/operational jobs ... documentation ...

Hello. I have a Satellite Toshiba laptop and as my daughter started pressing some buttons she changed the settings on the screen. When I go to my email or to some web pages the page and the letters look bigger and maybe of a different style, although my screen zoom level remains at 100% and then they are too small if I put the zoom at 75%. I tried to change the screen settings through the control panel but couldn't find something useful and then when I tried to restore the system to an older restore point so I can go back to my old settings it wasn't able to do it, even though I' ve tried different restore points (lovely windows!). Anyone has any ideas of what else I can do?
