How to change the data type in the table ESLL for the field USERF2_NUM ?

Hello Friends,
I have a requirement in which one of the change is to convert the data type of the field 'USERF2_NUM' in the table 'ESLL' from 'QUAN' to 'CHAR'.
How do i do it if i have an access to change it..........i think i should also check the impact of the change if done.
Kindly tell me as my requirement starts with this small change.

1. Is it ok to change the data type of the field 'USERF2_NUM ' which is in the table ESLL. from quan to char.
2. The table ESLL already has entries. if we change the data type from QUAN to CHAR what is the effect on the existing entries of the table .

The data type of InfoObject 0ORGUNIT is incompatible with field 0ORGUNIT

I am trying to create a DataSource in BW to load the organizational hierarchy from HR R/3 to BW. I get the message "The data type of InfoObject 0ORGUNIT is incompatible with field 0ORGUNIT,"
Our BW version is 3.5; the version of HR R/3 is SAP ECC 6.0.
I'm not sure what this message means but if I continue to click OK, I get transfer structures for the org attributes and hierarchies but not the text. The key to the text is 60 characters. Shouldn't the key be the org unit, which is in format NUMC 8?
I was able to create this DataSource last summer, when HR was in a different version (4.6?) with no issues. Does anybody have any idea what's wrong and what I can do about it?

What's the datatype of the following variant (use probe and indicator):
value -> 1356.00
I want to tranfer it to numerical data. When I tranfer it using "variant to data" function (the datatype used is string or numerical), An error occured:
ERROR 91 occured at Variant to Data. The data type is not compatible with the data type wired to the type input."

You can investigate any Variant by using the 'Variant Probe' for download from LAVA.
It will tell you what the actual contents of the Variant were.

Querying the data type of a table/view

Is there a sql statement that will 'return' the data type of a specified table/view?
For instance column x of table y has data type int, is there a statement such as:
SELECT data_type FROM y WHERE column_name = 'x'
I know the above won't work but it gives the gist of what I am looking for.

How to limit inserting data according to no of values for a field

Hi,
I have a task at hand. I have a table in a database.
When inserting a new record from webpage form in a field into
my database,
each value may repeat two or three times maximum for a
specific field..
I want a system to check if this value (e.g. : 414 from below
example)
exists twice and not more, then I do not want it to allow
recording third
time of same value. Or, for the example value of 450, I do
not want the
system to allow recording of fourth value as 450.
In brief, the system will check number of records containing
a value and its
limit, accordingly, it will allow an additional record or it
will not allow.
Please help !
I sense that it is easy. But, I could not figure out the
logic yet
Any solution would make my day.

Ical puts the date in and leaves no room for the event??

A couple of months ago ical suddenly started adding the date to my event entries and now in month view there is only room to see the date, not the event. How do I turn that off?
What it does is if I type in "7:30 p call john doe" it puts it in the calendar as "call john doe" and then on the other side of the entry it says in light grey " May 18, 7:30pm to May 18, 8:30pm " .
so because it says all that in light grey, there is no room for "call john doe"
so my calendar says: c May 18, 7:30pm to May 18, 8:30pm
in other words, the event is completely displaced by the date which I dont need to see because the event is already in the box for that day.
how can I turn this off and why did it start happening?

Check your purchase and bank/credit card history. I preordered the Rival Sons' Great Western Valkyrie a couple of months ago and was charged for three individual songs at £0.79 each as they were released one-by-one and then the balance of £5.62 when the album was finally published last week. You should not have been charged twice.

Can we change the data type of a field based on the value of the field

My Requirement is as below -- Could you please guide me
in the Printable Adobe form -- for ex - as usual for dates fields in the Object Pallette the object type is a date/time field and for quantity/currency fields corresponding fields are taken
now in case the either the date, quantity or currency is initial in place of displaying 0.00 or empty date we need to display N/A (Not Applicable)
for this I would like to change the data type of the field
to put it simply --
we need to change the data type of date field from DATE&TIME to Char type to hold N/A or Quantity field to Char field to hold N/A
how can we realize this in SAP adobe forms

Hello Ramchander,
     You cannot change the data type of the field at run time in Adobe forms because the type of field you choose at the time of design level is associated with the data type itself.
If you want to achieve your requirement, then your main idea should be to set the data type as CHARACTER itself while designing the field in the adobe form itself. CHAR field will comfortably hold the value of Calculation/amount field, Currency field, Amount, Date, Time HHMMSS, Unit Accuracy, Currency key, Floating point number, Numeric text, Client, Language and many other data types.
After designing the field as TEXT field in Adobe form you have two options.
Option 1:
Select the Date field initially as type TEXT field or CHAR field in Adobe forms.
Suppose the name of the field is TEXTFIELD1, then write the Javascript code on this field in Initialize event as below.
if ( this.rawvalue == null )
     this.rawvalue = "N/A";
If the field is not blank, then it will show the date. Else it will show "N/A".
Option 2:
Select the Date field initially as type TEXT field or CHAR field in Adobe forms. Do the formatting part in ABAP itself. It will increase the performance. Avoid Javascript as much as possible.
Suppose you have a DATE variable l_dats of type DATS. Then take another variable l_date of type CHAR. Then write the below ABAP code.
MOVE l_dats TO l_date.
IF l_date IS INITIAL.
     l_date = 'N/A'.
ENDIF.
Bind the l_date to the TEXT field in the form.
Even in this case, if the field is not blank, then it will show the date. Else it will show "N/A".
But I will suggest you to use Option 2 of keeping the AMOUNT, QUANTITY, DATE, TIME fields etc as CHAR or TEXT fields in Adobe form and do the required formatting in ABAP itself.

Verifing the data type

I'd like to know how can I verify if the variable contains only the data type that I'm expecting for. In SQLSERVER we have the IS_NUMERIC, IS_CHAR... functions. Is there something similar in ORACLE? How can I use it?

It is easy enough to test whether a value is numeric. You can create a function like:
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION IS_NUMBER (p_test_val IN VARCHAR2)
RETURN BOOLEAN IS
l_t_val NUMBER;
BEGIN
   l_t_val := TO_NUMBER(p_test_val);
   RETURN TRUE;
EXCEPTION WHEN VALUE_ERROR THEN
   RETURN FALSE;
END;This attempts to convert the value passed in (note that the parameter is a character type) to a number. If it suceeds, then it retrns TRUE. If the conversion causes an error, then the exception handler catches it and returns FALSE.
The BOOLEAN data type is only valid in PL/SQL (and probably other host languages like C or Java), you cannot use this function in a SQL statement. To use this in a SQL statement, then you would need to change the return type to number, and return something like 1 for TRUE and 0 for FALSE.
To use the function in a PL/SQL procedure, you could do something like:

l_val_to_test VARCHAR2(10) := '123';
BEGIN
   IF is_number (l_val_to_test) THEN
      DBMS_OUTPUT.Put_Line ('Value is a number');
   ELSE
      DBMS_OUTPUT.Put_Line ('Value is not a number');

How to pass the data from a input table to RFC data service?

Hi,
I am doing a prototype with VC, I'm wondering how VC pass the data from a table view to a backend data service? For example, I have one RFC in the backend system with a tabel type importing parameter, now I want to pass all the data from an input table view to the RFC, I guess it's possible but I don't know how to do it.
I try to create some events between the input table and data service, but seems there is no a system event can export the whole table to the backend data service.

Thanks for your answer, I tried the solution 2, I create "Submit" button, and ser the mapping scope to be "All data rows", it only works when I select at least one row, otherwise the data would not be passed.
Another question is I have serveral imported table parameter, for each table I have one "submit" event, I want these tables to be submitted at the same time, but if I click the submit button in one table toolbar, I can only submit the table data which has a submit button clicked, for other tables, the data is not passed, how can I achieve it?

Issue with the Data Type 'Number' in Business Objects

Hi,
I have an Object in the Universe where the Data Type of the Object is a number. This Column pertaining to this Object has certain values in the database out of which there is a 17 Digit Value which is 00000000031101165.
Now, when trying to retreive the same value through Business Objects it is getting rounded off to 00000000031101200 automatically when trying to view in Webi and when trying to retreive the same in Designer/Deski, it displays as 0.000000003110116E+16.
So, I would like to know if there is any other alternative in trying to retreive the Original Value that would not round off. Also, do we have any Limitation for the Data Type Number in Business Objects? The Version we are on is XI3.1.
Note: There are no functions that are used on this Object at the Universe Level and would not like to use any functions here.

What is the underlying database?
It looks like the data is considered to have two decimals, but is rounded to zero decimals.
Only you don't see the number formatting.
Is this a BW query?
Is this a calculated keyfigure?
In the query you can specify the rounding you want and it is also possible to specify it on an infoobject level.
Check those settings...

No entry in table T510 for the key 4004033MANAGER 1 on 01.04.2008

When trying to save entry in 0008 infotype i am getting the error "No entry in table T510 for the key 4004033MANAGER 1 on 01.04.2008"
I had removed the integration PLOGi ORGA for some testing purpose. is it because of this. now i have set the integration switch back. still i am not able to resolve this.

3- CAP(collective agreement Provision) which you have assigned to your employee subgroups in table V_T503Z.
MANAGER - Ps group
1 - Ps level
on 01.04.2008- start date.
in this table enter the wage type, which you have created under basic pay.
