How to change the lenth of existing field in sap standard table

can anybody help,my requirement is, how to change the length of existing field in sap standard table....

Which field are you thinking of in particular? Are you wanting to increase or decrease the length?
Some fields are used so extensively that a change to their length will mean adjusting many tables, some of them potentially very large, and hence taking a long time to adjust.
Some standard SAP programs expect certain fields to be of specific lengths and won't work if the length is changed.
Some screens could cease to work.
If you decrease length, then you could lose data.

I would like to change the label of a field in SAP GUI.
I already did it internally because for that field the Shor Text of the label changed:
I went to SE11, and wrote down the appropriate data element, through Translation I changed the entries of SCRTEXT_L, SCRTEXT_M and SCRTEXT_S and activated this change after saving.
It is very strange that after making sure that the
Short Text of that field was changed, I went to trx BP and I could see that the label didn´t change.
I´ll appreciate any help you can give me,

Hi Efrain,
Can you tell me in which screen did you make the screen.
Moreover the changes are not reflected immediately.
What you can try is to create a new record of the transaction in which you changed the label and save the recore. After this try to close the session and reopen the transaction and this should work.
The reason is the label on the screen are not picked up from the data element everytime but from buffer. So when you create a record this updates the database table entry and can also refresh the buffer.
I had the same problem in BP transaction and the above solution worked.

How to change the width of a field?

Hi all,
I would like to decrease the width of a field on my report.
But I can't do it in the Property palette. I am not able to change the width property. The width of the database column is varchar2(255). I do not want to decrease the length of the database column, but only the width property of the field.
Any ideas?

As far as I knows, you can only increase the width of a
character column. If you wish to decrease it, I would think
you'd have to drop/delete the whole column and recreate it,
loosing all your data in the process (unless you create a
temporary table into which you copy the data first, and then
copy it back into the "new" column - the oracle db will truncate
the data automatically).
SQL Plus is very well suited for the task, but requires you to
write the appropriate SQL statements yourself. Other tools may
simplify this for you (I use SQL Plus myself).

The Field showing in the infotype 1 is FORPR.
Change the text of this Field in CMOD.
CMOD ->Go to ->tect Enhancements->keywords-> Change ->FORPR
Change the text and check again.

How to change the caption of a field with a button?

I have serious trouble, don't know why, in order to change the caption of a field.
I can't do it with a button as in any other way...dropdown list, ecc...
Assumes that we have a button and "on click" i want to change the caption of a numeric or text field.
form1.ppp.Button1::click - (FormCalc, client)
NumericField1.caption.value.text.value = "whatever you want to set it to";
TextField1.caption.value.text.value = "whatever you want to set it to";
xfa.form.form1.ppp.NumericField1.rawValue = xfa.form.form1.ppp.NumericField1.rawValue + 1;
The numerical value inside the numericalfield1 is increased each click...but the caption still the same.
Why this happen?

Have Different Radio Buttons for the purposes what you have and use AT Selection Screen Output, Under the event Use loop at screen and with continue with your requirement.

How to change the vendor code of site in SAP IS retail

In SAP IS Retail, At the time of site creation. we create Site Customer & Site Vendor with site creation. For example If Site code is "1228" then the Customer Code of site will be "C1228" & Vendor Code for site will be "V1228". If by mistake I entered wrong Vendor/customer code then how I can correct it ? "WB02" is not the doing it.
So my questions is How to change the vendor/Customer code of a site in SAP IS retail ? Which T-Code which be required for it ? Please explain me the steps for doing it.

Actually this requirement is to enhance the standard screen for Tcode :EHSVU21.
So depending on the 1st Column(Test no) value ,i have to change the 3rd Column(Low.norm.result)
property either to DROP Down or not.
So in the PBO only the changes to be made and there is no field in SCREEN internal table for changing the attribute to DROP down. I checked SCREEN internal table where the field VALUE_HELP and REQUEST is useful but not suitable for my case.
Any solution available?

How to change the semantic color of entire rows in a table.

Hi, in the past I already managed to change the semantic color of a cell by a condition (for example all the cells with negative number -> I set negative semantic color)
My question is how can I change the semantic color of the entire row where this cell belong, and not only the cell. Im using NW2004.

You can just bind correspondign property of every cell editor (TextView) of every column to the very same context attribute. Next, when you change attribute value for certain elemnt, the whole row (every cell editor in row) will get same value.

How to change the hostname was set/defined in SAP system?

Dear Expert,
My customer met a problem about that:
he defined his host name with small characters(lower case) "abc" when he installed the SAP system (Windows2003(x64)-Solman70SR4).
But in SM21, the title of sm21, the hostname was recognize as upper case "ABC".
in SM51, the hostname was also recognized as upper case "ABC"
in STMS, the tab of 'transport tool', it is recognized as lower case "abc" in TRANSDIR.
in SM59, it is recognized as upper case "ABC" in internal connections, but recognized as lower case "abc" in ABAP connections, such as TMSADM@<DB>.DOMAIN.<sid>
While in Java URL, it is recognized as lower case "abc". With my test, the Java URL is not case sensitive for the HOSTNAME part in HTTP link as I tested to change the hostname both in upper case and lower case in etc\hostname file, the URL both are working. (not sure if this is due to the test is with intranet or not).
Based on SAP note 611361, it seems that:
"Hostnames must be considered "case sensitive". That means
hostnames shall be used in the same case (upper or lower) in all
SAP configurations as well as in the network configuration (DNS
or etc/hosts). You must ensure consistent name resolving of the
hostname from hostname to IP address and back from the IP address
to the the same hostname (case sensitive match). See also note
129997."

Section 4.13 "Checking the Consistency of the Host Name" in [This Upgrade Guide|https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000353422008E] has a good explaination of what & how to check your hostname / parameter configuration.
on a windows box, another way to get the TCP/IP name is to type 'hostname' from a CMD window.

How to control the name of custom field in data base table, added by AET

I have added the one custom field by Application Enhancement Tool (AET).
The name of custom field has been added in the data base table as ZZFLD000004 by AET.
I need to add the some meaningful name like that ZMYPROB.
How can I control the name of custom field in the database field through AET?

My requirement is add customer data to business are field. but the lengh of business area field is 4 chars.and the customer field length is 10.So in sap note i've found a solution is there a table call replacement of business area(FLQGSBER_SUBST).in this first we've append the customer field to this table.then the structure of business area should be modified.
can we modify the length of the standard table field?

But there is solution i've found in SAP note is 'There is a standard table for business area called "FLQGSBER_SUBST" Replacement of business area.In this table we've to append the field.for ex here we've append the customer (kunnr) and
the field business area field has no data. when we append the customer field then the data in customer field updated in business area field.when i've tried this
and when execute this.in debugging the businee area updated with 4 chars only.
it didnt take 10 chars(kunnr).
is it possible...

Hi,
Better to activate SAP* user instead of trying for the DDIC user .
Either use the Query Delete from usr02.sapr3 where bname = 'SAP*' and mandt = '000' or delete the
user SAP* from USR02 table where mandt value is 000 through SQL Visual Studio .
Check the value login/no_automatic_user_sapstar in RZ11 , if it is zero , no need to restart the instance .
Otherwise change it to 0 , restart the instance.
Now you will be able to login with the password pass.
