• Putting Single Quote in any field

Hi All,
What is the purpose of putting ' ' (Single Quote) in any of the field?
Example:
Object:F_BKPF_BUK
Field:
ACTVT:01
BUKRS:' ' -
> What does this imply?

Hi,
what do you mean by 'single quote'? If you mean 'blank', this has the same meaning as an empty value in the field. So if the application checks for any value, but not for an empty field, the check will fail.
Regarding the docu: you can access it through some different ways, for instance in SE38->display source code of any report->press the blue 'I' infobutton->enter ABAP key-word authority-check, select authority-check->abap statement, enjoy the documentation.

• How to deal with single quote (') in a field value?

I can successfully insert value with single quoet using
Prepared statement with placeholder(?) construct .
I can also successfuly use value with single quote(') in
WHERE clause.
My question is, is there a way to use string with single
quote if a Statement like:
String slqString ="INSERT INTO customers (name, address) VALUES ( 'O'Reilly Bob', 'St Mary's Street') ";
Statement sqlStmt = con.createStatement();
sqlStmt.executeUpdate(sqlString);
The last statement will thow an SQLException because due to single quotes
Any ideas?

I think the question was regarding the ' in O'Reily. Use ' twice when using the Statement interface, i.e.
("O''Reilly Bob", "St Mary''s Street")
So that's two single quotes, not a double quote, to successfully insert a single quote, if you know what I mean....
But like you said PreparedStatement does things like this for you.

• SQL Injection, replace single quote with two single quotes?

Is replacing a single quote with two single quotes adequate
for eliminating
SQL injection attacks? This article (
http://www.devguru.com/features/kb/kb100206.asp
) offers that advice, and it
enabled me to allow users to search name fields in the
database that contain
single quotes.
I was advised to use "Paramaterized SQL" in an earlier post,
but I can't
understand the concept behind that method, and whether it
applies to
queries, writes, or both.

Then you can use both stored procedures and prepared
statements.
Both provide better protection than simply replacing
apostrophes.
Prepared statements are simple:
Set myCommand = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Command")
...snip...
myCommand.CommandText = "INSERT INTO Users([Name], [Email])
VALUES (?, ?)"
...snip...
myCommand.Parameters.Append
myCommand.CreateParameter("@Name",200,1,50,Name)
myCommand.Parameters.Append
myCommand.CreateParameter("@Email",200,1,50,Email)
myCommand.Execute ,,128 'the ,,128 sets execution flags that
tell ADO not to
look for rows to be returned. This saves the expense of
creating a
recordset object you don't need.
Stored procedures are executed in a similar manner. DW can
help you with a
stored procedure through the "Command (Stored Procedure)"
server behavior.
You can see a full example of a prepared statement by looking
at DW's
recordset code after you've created a recordset using version
8.02.

• How to create pdf files with text field data

how to create pdf files with text field data

That looks like it should work, but it doesn't.
I opened the PDF I had created from Word in Acrobat (X Pro). Went to File > Properties. Selected "Change Settings". I then enabled "Restrict editing...", set a password, set "Printing Allowed" to "none", "Changes Allowed" to "none", and ensured that "Enable copying of text..." was disabled.
I saved the PDF file, closed Acrobat, opened the PDF in Reader, and I was still able to select text and graphical objects.
I reopened the PDF in Acrobat, and the document summart still shows everything as allowed. When I click on "show details" (from File > Properties) it shows the correct settings.
Any ideas?

Thanks for your post in our Discussion Forum,
is it necessary to export the picture in the .emf Format?
Otherwise I can provide two possibilities:
The easiest way to make a screenshot of a certain area of the frontpanel is to
create a SubVI with all the elements you want to take a screenshot from and
then take a screenshot from the whole frontpanel of the SubVI.
This works fine although the frontpanel is not visible while the picture is taken.
The screenshot can be taken with a method-node as seen in the example attached to this post.
Another possibility is to crop a screenshot of a whole frontpanel to the region which you are interested in.
How this works is described here: http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/take-screenshot-of-part-of-front-panel/td-p/1613750
The downside is that you have to manually set the region which might change due to scrolling or changes on the panel.
Best regards,
Peter

• My browser and email setup is missing and i cant access my balances with any character like"#*"

can anyone help me plz my browser and email setup is missing and i cant access my balances with any character like"#*" thanks in advance.

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
For the Browser and Email setup, I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
2) Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
For the # character, are you saying you cannot type that character at any time? Or that you cannot access whatever dialing strings your carrier provides for balances and such?
In any event, if the above does not work for the Browser and Email, then you must contact your mobile service provider to ensure you are subscribed to, from them, an adequate data plan to enable the services you desire. When you do, you can ask them also about the # key problem.
Good luck!

• Any way to generate a single quote (') with XSLT?

Hi:
I guess this is really an XSLT question. I'm using the Transform() method of an XMLType variable to apply a style sheet. The XML in the variable is just something simple like
<TBL>
<LAST_NAME>LIKE|JONES</LAST_NAME>
<FIRST_NAME>=|MARY</FIRST_NAME>
<AGE>=|50</AGE>
</TBL>
I am trying to get a stylesheet to transform something like the above into SQL such as
Select * from foo where LAST_NAME like 'JONES'
and FIRST_NAME ='MARY'
and AGE = 50But to do this, I need to generate the single quotes around the search terms and I can't get anything but LAST_NAME LIKE 'JONES'. Is there a way to do this? For now I am generating a ~ and replacing ~ for ' throughout the generated SQL text but that's a pretty sorry solution.
I thought that something like <xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes">&</xsl:text> was going to work but then found out it has been deprecated. I was thinking character-map might work but that's an XSLT 2.0 thing and apparently 10g is on XSLT 1.0? In any case, it had no idea what I was trying to do with a character map.
So, am I overlooking an obvious way to get my stylesheet to insert apostrophes?
Thanks.

Can some one tell me how to replace double Quote (") in a string with a single quote (') ? I tried to use REPLACE function, but I couldn;t get it worked.

• How to persist an entity with (any) Serializable Java Object as a field?

Hello,
I've understood, that in addition to basic and primary types, an entity bean can have basically any serializable object as its field. I just can't get it working. All I want, is just to have an entity bean with, for example, a HashMap or Properties as one of the its fields. And afterwards, when I'd query the bean again from the persistent storage, it would have the HashMap or Properties fields set just as they were while persisting the bean. So the basic functionality.
So far, the only way I've gotten this working, is by defining the field as byte[] and then by using ObjectInput/OutputStreams and ByteArrayInput/OutputStreams I can read/write my HashMap or Properties as a byte[] and persist the entity... Not very clever, is it :)
I've tried to annotate the field with @Lob but it eventually ends up with casting problems when fetching the data from the persistent storage, because TopLink gets a blob, a byte array from the persistent storage and doesn't know how to convert it into HashMap or Properties like I want it to.
This was close to mine, but still didn't get it working..

ps. Working with AS PE9, MySQL and PostgreSQL..
Best regards,
Samuli

Hello,
Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. The ID used for the entity does not need to match the actual database constraints, so you can use any mapping in the entity as the ID as long as its value will be unique. If it is not unique, you will run into problems when EclipseLink thinks the entity already exists, performing an update instead of an insert.
Can you describe the performance problems you are having, and what type of sequencing you are using? It is possible to improve performance using batch writing and sequence pre-allocation.
See http://wiki.eclipse.org/Optimizing_the_EclipseLink_Application_(ELUG)#How_to_Use_Batch_Writing_for_Optimization
and http://wiki.eclipse.org/Optimizing_the_EclipseLink_Application_(ELUG)#Table_11-11 for some of the options available.

• How to handle single quote between two single quotes in ABAP?

Dear SAP Gurus
I have a question regarding handling a string data.
Say I have a string ABCD'\&%$!!ABC'AAA123. Please notice that there are single quotes in my string.
I am writing a parser code in ABAP and getting into problem with if statement to check if the character read is a single quote.
When I type the following with a singleQuote between 2 singleQuoes as below, it gives error.
If CHAR = '''.
ENDIF.
How do I handle that? I searched for escape sequence and couldn't get any useful info.
Any feedback will be highly appreciated.
Thanks
Ram

Or just use string literals
if char = `'`. "note that ` is the "backquotation" mark not a regular quotation mark '
