  • How to configure database connectivity in OC4J App server.

    Hi,
    I am working on Oracle ESB flows. I have the flow inserting rows into database table using database connection that I have defined. I havent set up connection settings in OC4J EM console.
    I dont wonder when JDeveloper is inserting rows into tables, as connection is explicitely defined in JDeveloper.
    Now I login to EM enviroment and click on Home, click on Web Services tab, and when I use this flow as a Web Service end point and feed values through the form that it provided, it also works. But since I havent defined any connection properties in App Server explicitely, I wonder where is it getting connection properties(JNDI name) from.
    I want to configure some settings in Testing Environment and am kind of stuck at this point.
    Thanks,

    Hi.
    When you don't have JNDI configured, OC4J uses the design time connection defined in the Adapter's WSDL. Look for the following description in your Adapter WSDL:
    <!-- Your runtime connection is declared in
    J2EE_HOME/application-deployments/default/DbAdapter/oc4j-ra.xml
    These 'mcf' properties here are from your design time connection and
    save you from having to edit that file and restart the application server
    if your JNDI is missing.
    These 'mcf' properties are safe to remove.
    -->
    Now, for JNDI configuration, you can use the SOA Suite tutorial as a reference:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/core.1013/b28937/setting_up.htm#CIHBHEFC
    There you can find the steps to create a connection pool, data source, etc.

  • How to configure Database parameters to Spatial?

    Say, when creating the database, you choose the preconfigured "GENERAL PURPOSE" for using it with mapserver and ORACLE SPATIAL.
    Is it ok, to leave it like that?
    Or is it a must to change some parameters?
    Also, which parameters will be critical if I dont change them? or which one will speed up my queries?
    Thanks
    By the way.
    8GB RAM
    4 cores 1 cpu
    2 TB HDD

    Is it ok, to leave it like that?The main thing you need to do is to adjust the memory parameters to suit your available memory. But this is nothing to do with spatial - it is what you would do regardless of the expected use of the database. You didn't mention the database version, so I assume 11g. Therefore you need to adjust the memory_target parameter.
    You also didn't mention the operating system and whether it is 32 or 64 bit. Depending on the combination of those, you'll be able to make more or less use of your 8GB of RAM.
    Also, which parameters will be critical if I dont change them? The default value of the vast majority of parameters are appropriate for the database template. Parameters related to redo logging often need some tuning to suit your workload.
    or which one will speed up my queries?There is no "go faster" parameter. As a general rule, changing parameters is not the primary method of making the database perform faster. Writing efficient SQL and designing your system to reduce unnecessary processing and I/O is.

  • [Forum FAQ] How to configure a Data Driven Subscription which get multi-value parameters from one column of a database table?

    Introduction
    In SQL Server Reporting Services, we can define a mapping between the fields that are returned in the query to specific delivery options and to report parameters in a data-driven subscription.
    For a report with a parameter (such as YEAR) that allow multiple values, when creating a data-driven subscription, how can we pass a record like below to show correct data (data for year 2012, 2013 and 2014).
    EmailAddress                             Parameter
    Comment
    [email protected]              2012,2013,2014               NULL
    In this article, I will demonstrate how to configure a Data Driven Subscription which get multi-value parameters from one column of a database table
    Workaround
    Generally, if we pass the “Parameter” column to report directly in the step 5 when creating data-driven subscription.
    The value “2012,2013,2014” will be regarded as a single value, Reporting Services will use “2012,2013,2014” to filter data. However, there are no any records that YEAR filed equal to “2012,2013,2014”, and we will get an error when the subscription executed
    on the log. (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles)
    Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.InvalidReportParameterException: Default value or value provided for the report parameter 'Name' is not a valid value.
    This means that there is no such a value on parameter’s available value list, this is an invalid parameter value. If we change the parameter records like below.
    EmailAddress                        Parameter             Comment
    [email protected]         2012                     NULL
    [email protected]         2013                     NULL
    [email protected]         2014                     NULL
    In this case, Reporting Services will generate 3 reports for one data-driven subscription. Each report for only one year which cannot fit the requirement obviously.
    Currently, there is no a solution to solve this issue. The workaround for it is that create two report, one is used for view report for end users, another one is used for create data-driven subscription.
    On the report that used create data-driven subscription, uncheck “Allow multiple values” option for the parameter, do not specify and available values and default values for this parameter. Then change the Filter
    From
    Expression:[ParameterName]
    Operator   :In
    Value         :[@ParameterName]
    To
    Expression:[ParameterName]
    Operator   :In
    Value         :Split(Parameters!ParameterName.Value,",")
    In this case, we can specify a value like "2012,2013,2014" from database to the data-driven subscription.
    Applies to
    Microsoft SQL Server 2005
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008
    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2
    Microsoft SQL Server 2012

    For every Auftrag, there are multiple Position entries.
    Rest of the blocks don't seems to have any relation.
    So you can check this code to see how internal table lt_str is built whose first 3 fields have data contained in Auftrag, and next 3 fields have Position data. The structure is flat, assuming that every Position record is related to preceding Auftrag.
    Try out this snippet.
    DATA lt_data TYPE TABLE OF string.
    DATA lv_data TYPE string.

      a3 TYPE string,

    END OF ty_str.
    DATA: lt_str TYPE TABLE OF ty_str,
          ls_str TYPE ty_str,
          lv_block TYPE string,

          lv_flag = abap_false.
        WHEN OTHERS.
          lv_flag = abap_true.
      ENDCASE.
      CHECK lv_flag EQ abap_true.

  • How to configure email Alerts in OEM Cloud 12c for Database Servers up/down

    Hi everybody,
    How to configure email Alerts in OEM Cloud 12c for Database Servers up/down status?
    Regards,
    Miguel Vega

    Hi Miguel Vega,
    Information regarding the notifications:
    ==============================
    Configuring notification rules in 12c is different from earlier releases.
    The concept and function of notification rules has been replaced with a two-tier system consisting of Incident Rules and Incident Rule Sets :
    1. Incident Rules: Operate at the lowest level granularity (on discrete events) and performs the same role as notification rules from earlier releases.
    By using incident rules, you can automate the response to incoming incidents and their updates.
    A rule contains a set of automated actions to be taken on specific events, incidents or problems.
    The actions taken are for example : sending e-mails, creating incidents, updating incidents, and creating tickets.
    2. Incident Rule Set: A rule set is a collection of rules that applies to a common set of objects, for example, targets, jobs, and templates.

  • How do web front ends find the configuration database (moving whole farm to new AD forest)

    We are exploring, as a possible course of action, moving our SharePoint 2007 medium farm to a different Active Directory forest (2008). There is a two way transitive trust between the source and target domains.
    I have established that with such a trust it's possible to add content databases on a SQL instance in another forest, so moving content is not a big issue; we'd stand up new instances and move them: the user accounts are almost all in the target domain anyway.
    However, we have a good deal of customization, including a third-party application that no longer has any support and has historically been appallingly difficult to upgrade/install fresh.
    How do web front end servers find the SQL instance containing the configuration database? If the farm credentials had been previously changed to an account in the target domain, all services stopped and the configuration database moved to a new instance
    with a DNS alias, would the database appear to be in the same location when SQL and SharePoint services were started on (logically) moved web front ends?

    Here is more or less the high-level process for SharePoint 2007:
    Mid- to high-level steps.
    0. Full farm backup
    1. Move users to new domain (in AD). Use stsadm -o migrateuser to migrate the old domain accounts to the new ones in SharePoint
    2. Move service accounts to new domain, or create new service accounts
    3. Update the farm to use the service accounts in the new domain
    stsadm -o updatefarmcredentials (service accounts)
    stsadm -o spsearch -farmserviceaccount
    stsadm -o spsearch -farmcontentaccessaccount
    stsadm -o editssp -ssplogin (for each ssp)
    stsadm -o osearch -farmserviceaccount
    SSO and any other remaining service accounts (CA -> Ops -> Service Accounts)
    Default content access account (SSP -> Search Settings -> Default content access account)
    Customizations (if there are service accounts associated with these)
    3.5 Manual steps
    Application pool accounts
    Update permissions for SQL Logins to make sure the new accounts match the permissions for the old accounts
    Add the appropriate new accounts to the DCOM IIS WAMREG Admin Service
    4. Update the SQL Server service accounts. If SQL Server is shared with other applications you'll want to update the SQL Logins for these other applications as necessary and the SQL Server service accounts (DB Engine, DB Agent, Reporting Services, etc.). Might
    not be necessary if this has already been done or if the SQL server is not changing domains.
    5. Shut down all services on all servers in the farm (this includes SQL if you are moving to the new domain).
    6. Change domain membership of all farm servers, reboot or perhaps shutdown and bring back up in the following order:
    1. SQL. Verify SQL Server is running and accessible. Check event logs. Resolve any issues.
    2. Central Admin server. Verify CA is accessible, check event logs. Web apps and some services may not be available if they are on servers that are currently turned off. Don't worry about these (yet).
    3. Application servers, search servers, index, query, other. It's likely some or all of the WFEs will go on at this step. Verify services are accessible as expected. Check event logs. Resolve issues.
    4. Any remaining WFEs. Wash, rinse, repeat.
    7. Assuming everything is running as expected, users can access the sites, the sky did not fall, etc. take a full farm backup.
    Hey look, here are some low-level steps too.
    # updates the account used to run the CA app pool and the timer service
    # must be run on the server that hosts CA
    stsadm -o updatefarmcredentials -identitytype configurableid -userlogin NEWDOMAIN\farm_service_account -password Password123
    # spsearch
    stsadm -o spsearch -farmserviceaccount NEWDOMAIN\search_service_account -farmservicepassword Password123 -farmcontentaccessaccount NEWDOMAIN\crawl_service_account -farmcontentaccesspassword Password123
    # osearch
    stsadm -o osearch -farmcontactemail [email protected] -farmserviceaccount NEWDOMAIN\search_service_account -farmservicepassword Password123
    # ssp service accounts
    stsadm -o editssp -title SSP -ssplogin NEWDOMAIN\ssp_service_account -ssppassword Password123
    # Manual steps
    SSP Admin -> Search Settings -> Default Content Access Account
    Application pools: CA -> Operations -> Service Accounts -> Web Application Pool (or use gl-updateapppoolaccount if available)
    iisreset /noforce
    Copy SQL permissions to the new accounts. Not sure why this doesn't happen.
    SSP Service Account
    Farm Account
    Setup Account (not copied because it doesn't own anything, just used to kick off the DB for the other accounts)
    Search Service
    Add accounts to DCOM not sure why this didn't happen
    Component Services -> Computer -> My Computer -> DCOM Config -> IIS WAMREG Service
    Farm account
    Application pool accounts
    Search Service
    SSP Service
    SSP Admin
    Then the fun part. Move the server into the new domain.
    Check for AAMs to see if they reference the current domain. If so, change to the new one.
    Stop all SP services. Join new domain.
    The computer name is a netbios name in SP, this should be painless.
    Some general notes from my experience doing this:
    1. There is no way to update application pool identities with stsadm (I haven't explored using Powershell). You have to go through CA -> Service Accounts to update these.
    2. Some SQL logins and permissions were not created. I compared the permissions before to the permissions after and copied the ones that didn't transfer. This resolved all database access issues.
    3. Had to grant permissions for the service accounts in the DCOM configuration for the IIS WAMREG admin service. I expected this to happen automatically but was not surprised given the history of CLSID 61738644-F196-11D0-9953-00C04FD919C1.

  • How to configure Enterprise Manager Database Control (EMDC) to make it work on 2 servers working (primary and standby) under DG rules

    Hello everybody i use Oracle Database EE 11.2.0.4 with DG.
    In those cases i need to get Enterprise Manager Database Control running against DB with no RAC and no DG i perform the following steps:
    I Logon SQLPLUS as user SYS or SYSTEM, and drop the sysman account and management objects:
    DECLARE
    CURSOR c1 IS
    SELECT owner, synonym_name name
    FROM dba_synonyms
    WHERE table_owner = 'SYSMAN';
    BEGIN
    FOR r1 IN c1 LOOP
    IF r1.owner = 'PUBLIC' THEN
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP PUBLIC SYNONYM '||r1.name;
    ELSE
    EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'DROP SYNONYM '||r1.owner||'.'||r1.name;
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    END;
    DROP USER mgmt_view CASCADE;
    DROP ROLE mgmt_user;
    DROP USER sysman CASCADE;
    After that i run
    emca -config dbcontrol db -repos recreate
    But what should i do in cases i have 2 servers working (primary and standby) under DG rules?

    Hi ,
    It is not possible to monitor/administer a Logical or Physical Standby database, i.e Data Guard, using Enterprise Manager Database Control.  This is primarily due to the fact that Database Control is designed to monitor 1 database and a Data Guard environment, by definition, includes more than 1 database.
    If you attempt to run emca against a standby Database, you will get an error like (i.e. ORA-01219: database not open).
    Database Control, can, of course, be used to monitor the current Primary database (with no ability to administer or monitor Data Guard related functionality).  In such a case, when failover occurs Database Control must be reconfigured to run on the new Primary database using the commands detailed in Note 278100.1 How To Drop, Create And Recreate DB Control In A 10g Database, section C. Recreate/ReConfig DB Control, Option 2. Recreate the DB Control Configuration Files and Repository.
    Enterprise Manager Grid Control or Cloud Control provides the functionality for viewing, monitoring, and administering primary and standby databases in a Data Guard configuration.
    Reference: Is it Possible to Configure Database Control for a Logical or Physical Standby Database? (Doc ID 315116.1)
    You can use EM 12c cloud control to monitor and manager Standby DB effectively
    Ref to below link for details
    Set Up and Manage Oracle Data Guard using Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c
