How to connect sqlserver use oracle sql developer?
I created a non-oracle location connection in owb and can load data from sqlserver to warehouse. Now, I want to use sqlplus or sqldeveloper to connect sqlserver directly, But I got this error message"ora-03135:connection lost contact".
How can I connect sqlserver in sqldeveloper or sqlplus?
Thanks
Hi Napo,
SQLDeveloper can migrate to oracle, browse sqlserver and run and display results from single statements.
I have not seen "ora-03135:connection lost contact" have you set up sqlserver for tcp/ip connection, checked the port is open (and not blocked by, for example, firewalls) and used the jtds driver to connect SQLDeveloper to sqlserver?
Note that "ora-03135:connection lost contact" is an oracle error and does not seem related to sqlserver.
Oracle also has heterogenous gateway products which may be useful

How to use Oracle SQL Developer 4.0 to connect to Ms Access file with .accdb extension
Hi all,
I am using Oracle SQL Developer 4.0 and Ms Access 2013 under Windows 7 (64 bits)
After browsing and selecting MS Access file with accdb extention, I got an error message :[Microsoft] " Data source name not found and no default driver specified".
On Administravitve Tools=> ODBC Data Source Administrator=>Drivers I have File date
Name : Version
Microsoft Acess Driver (*.mdb, *accdb) 12.00.4518.1014 ACEODBC.DLL 26/10/2006
Would you please advise?
Thank you very much in advanceThat MS Access driver is 64-bit, I think. If SQL Developer, or JDK is 32-bit you need to use the 32-bit driver. You can see if you have a 32-bit driver installed using c:\windows\system32\odbcadm32.exe

Unable to connect to Oracle Database using Oracle Sql developer 2.1.1.64
Hi Everyone,
I am searching for some help regarding my problem with Oracle connectivity. I have installed Oracle 11g release 2 on my Windows XP Professional Laptop. For a few days after installation i could connect to the Oracle database with the SYSTEM account using Oracle SQL developer ( installed on the same Laptop) but now i am unable to do so.It gives me this annoying message:
An error was encountered performing the required operation Got a minus one from read call .Vendor code 0
However i am able to connect using Sql Plus by supplying the username SYSTEM and the corresponding password.
My TNSNAMES .ora file is as follows:
ORACLE =
(DESCRIPTION =

(CONNECT_DATA =

My Sqlnet.ora file is as follows:
SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES= (NTS)
NAMES.DIRECTORY_PATH= (TNSNAMES, EZCONNECT)
I am new to Oracle and so i need someone in this forum who can help me resolve this problem. Also i even tried connecting to the database using Toad 10.5.0.41. It give me the following error:
ORA 12537 : TNS Connection closed
Thanks for your patience and help in advance.

How to insert data from *.dmp file to oracle 11g using Oracle SQL Develope
hi
i backup my database using PL/SQL developer and made *.dmp file
how to insert data from *.dmp file to oracle 11g using Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.1.64
and how to make *.dmp file from sql*plus ?
thanks in advancePl/Sql developer has a config window, there you choose the exec to do the import/export.
Find it and his home version, it may be exp or expdp, the home version is the version of the client where the exp executable is.
Then use the same version of imp or impdp to execute the import, you do not need to use Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.1.64. If you want to use it, you must have the same version in the oracle home that exp/imp of sql developer use. -
I'm new to Oracle. I have installed Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.04 and Java 1.7. When I run Oracle SQL Developer, I will get the window Running this product is supported with minimum Java version of 1.6.0_04 and a maximum version less than 1.7. This product will not be supported....
Is there any known problem using Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.04 with Java 1.7?
I have already downloaded Java 1.6 but don't know whether I need to uninstall Java 1.7 first. If don't need to uninstall Java 1.7, how can I set Oracle SQL Developer to run with Java 1.6?
Thanks for any help.
Edited by: 881656 on Aug 25, 2011 11:22 AMHi,
One prior post discussing the use of Java 7 is:
SQL Developer 3.0 and Java SE 7?
There is no need to uninstall any Java version (except if you have disk space constraints) and no problem switching between Java versions. This may be controlled in the sqldeveloper.conf file in your ...\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin directory via the SetJavaHome line. For example:
#SetJavaHome ../../jdk
SetJavaHome C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_26
#SetJavaHome C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.7.0Regards,

How to create databse in oracle sql developer
Hi am using oracle sql developer but while connecting to the database i am getting error of network adapter
if any buddy has a solution then fill free to post
Thanx and Regards
UmeshCan you be a little more specific with the error? The "network adapter" errors I've seen myself have been because SqlDeveloper can't connect to the database, either because the wrong host/port was given, or because a firewall was blocking the port.

Optimizing an SQL Query using Oracle SQL Developer
Hi ,
Currently i am using Oracle SQL Developer as my Database IDE .
Is it possible to use Orqcles SQLDeveloper for the purpose of Optimizing an SQL Query ??
For example assume i am having a query as :
Select from Tranac_Master where CUST_STATAUS='Y' and JCC_REPORT='N'*
Could anybody please tell me how can i use Oracle SQL Developer to optimize this query or any other SQL queries ??
Please share your ideas , thanks in advance .1. Your query looks very simplistic as it is, so I fail to see how you can better optimise it (unless 'Tranac_Master' is a view, in which case I'd need to see the view details).
2. No tool can automagically optimise your SQL to any degree of practical use. Very minor adjustments may be possible automatically, but really it is a question of you knowing your data & database design accurately, and then you applying your expert knowledge to tune it. -
Getting the schema using Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.1
I need to generate a report in CSV/XLS format using Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.1 to get the schema details
in the below format.
Table Name: XXXXXXXXX
Table Space Name: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Structure :
Field Name Data Type Size
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxx xxxxx
Field level constraint:
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Table Level Constraint:
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Indexes:
Index Name Column Name(s) Table space name
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx
Xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxx
Sequence Number:
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Triggers:
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I am using a query to do that, but I cannot run more than one queries in the Create Report Dialog.
I went to the Menu->View->Reports. In that, I chose User Defined Reports, created a new folder called Schema Detail and in that a report named Schema Detail. I right click on that report, choose Edit option, Create Report Dialog opens.
In the Create Report Dialog, I chose the option Script for Value of Style.
In the SQL column I enter a query "select * from table_names". But, if I enter another query after that, it does not run and reports an error "SQL Error: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended
00933. 00000 - SQL command not properly ended" Cause: Action: "
I end the first query with a semi colon, but it does not work.
The queries run fine in a SQL Worksheet. There, I can terminate the first query with a semi colon and enter the second query. Then, I run both of them together so that result-set of second query appears after the second.
Am I doing something wrong? Can someone please advise on how to get the information I need?
Thanks a lot.You can do it in SQL Worksheet because you are running a script. You could run the script in SQL*Plus, and even start it from a bat/cmd file.
Or if you want this as a User Defined Report, you might make it a PL/SQL style report. Here, all output is done through DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT or DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE. You can output HTML tags or plain text. I have an example in my paper for ODTUG Kaleidoscope 2009. -
Accessing MySQL InnoDB tables via JDBC using Oracle SQL Developer
I had posted a problem in the Oracle SQL Developer forum with how that application (v1.1) accesses MySQL InnoDB tables and someone replied that the "[data migration] team created the integration with MySQL", so I am posting here in hopes of learning more about the problem.
Here's a summary:
When I use Oracle SQL Developer to query MySQL InnoDB tables, I need to issue a "commit" before I do each query to ensure that I am getting current results. Otherwise, it appears to be using a snapshot as-of the last commit. Is this a problem with SQL Developer, or a JDBC configuration, or MySQL problem even?
The full details are here:

Can I use Oracle SQL Developer to "Move" data?
Hello,
I'm new to Oracle and I'm trying to use Oracle SQL Developer to export data from one table (on server A) to another table (on sever B). I'm able to create a .ldr file but I don't know how to use the .ldr file in Oracle SQL Developer? I would appreciate any help you can provide.
Thanks!Hi,
The name of tables are different ?
If I understood then try this below:
e.g:
C:\> exp user/password@connectionA file=maytable.dmp tables=SAFETYADMIN_TBL_0022_43
C:\> imp user/password@connectionB file=mytable.dmp full=y
After this import, then you can:
[pre]
C:\>sqlplus user/password@connectionB
SQL> insert into SAFETYUSER_TBL_0022_44
select * from SAFETYADMIN_TBL_0022_43;
SQL> drop table SAFETYADMIN_TBL_0022_43;Feedback if this is not that you want.

SQL Server table capture using Oracle SQL Developer
Hello,
I need to know how to set up the Oracle SQL Developer to captuer SQL Server table with correct field precision. For some reason, all NVARCHAR field precision sizes are the double of the original precision size after capturing the table.
Example:
SQL Server table 'A' with the following field:
name NVARCHAR( 50)
after table capture becomes:
name NVARCHAR2(100)
which is double of the original precision.
Any feed back or input is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

FROM md_schemas md_s
join md_tables md_tab on md_tab.schema_id_fk = md_s.id
join md_catalogs md_cat on md_cat.id = md_s.catalog_id_fk
inner join md_connections con on md_cat.connection_id_fk=con.id
join md_columns md_col on md_col.table_id_fk = md_tab.id
where --md_s.created_on = (select max(created_on) from md_catalogs)
con.name like '%(corr%)'
and md_col.column_type in ('nchar','nvarchar')
) merge_clause on (m.rowid = merge_clause.row_id)
when matched then update set m.precision = merge_clause.prec/2
that works, as long as you don't forget to commit like i did....
