How to continue working on a project if I export the materials?

Hi, I am making a web series and came accross a problem.
My computer's hard drive is almost full. I am trying to cut the raw footages and the finished copy of an episode to an external hard drive.
I can paste the raw footages and the finished copy of the episode. The problem is that I cannot cut the editing software's "edit" part (the program that  I can use to edit my episode which I can change) cannot be taken away on an external hard drive. iMovie can only seems to export completely the finished video and not the "edit". The problem is that It is like a Word document  that  can only be  exported and see the uneditable finished copy that I can copy to anywhere and not have the document that  I can always change. That document is like sealed on this computer.
I want to export the "editing" part of the video, which means the file that  when opened in iMovie, I can see the clips and the texts or any other edits that I have. Not just the finished video. But it seems that if I export out all the raw clips that I imported from the camera into an external drive, the "edit" part of a video will be gone. As if to edit a video, I need to always have the raw clips in that same folder at all time and even if I export them out and re-put them in, I still need to re-put the video part back into the iMovie program.
What I want to learn is how to take the file of unfinished iMovie file and put it on an external drive and then back into another computer and open the iMovie program on that computer and when opened this file, I can continue editing my video. Right now, I cannot take out my raw clips from the computer into an external drive since if I do, the program's import part will be blank and all clips will be black and I then will need to re-put in the clips.
Is there a way of taking an unfinished iMovie project and put it on an another computer and open that file to continue editing?
And more importantly, is it necessary that I have the raw clips inside the import folder at all time or else the footage of that clip go missing on my project?
Isn't there a way of like "embed image" way of that I can still delete a clip of the raw footage and my project will save the edited version of a clip in another folder?
My camera is Sony Handycam HDR CX110
I hope you can understand my questions and please answer them quickly. Thanks.

See my post here on how to do this.

  • How does QoS work with WAAS WCCP? What's the interaction between QoS Traffic Classification and WAE Traffic Application Policy?

How does QoS work with WAAS WCCP? What's the interaction between Router QoS Traffic Classification and WAE Traffic Application Policy?

By default, WAAS preserves the DSCP marking on intercepted packets.  There is a configuration option to set/override the DSCP value at the global (device), application, and classifier levels.  Currently WAAS provides marking only.  There is no action taken by WAAS based on the DSCP value.

  • How do you save changes made in iPhoto, and export the changed file.  It keeps reverting back to the original.

How do you save changes made in iPhote, and export the changed picture file? When I select export, current format, it reverts to the original, wiping out all my work.

Try trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder.
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)
(Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    What's the plist file?
For new users: Every application on your Mac has an accompanying plist file. It records certain User choices. For instance, in your favourite Word Processor it remembers your choice of Default Font, on your Web Browser is remembers things like your choice of Home Page. It even recalls what windows you had open last if your app allows you to pick up from where you left off last. The iPhoto plist file remembers things like the location of the Library, your choice of background colour, whether you are running a Referenced or Managed Library, what preferences you have for autosplitting events and so on. Trashing the plist file forces the app to generate a new one on the next launch, and this restores things to the Factory Defaults. Hence, if you've changed any of these things you'll need to reset them. If you haven't, then no bother. Trashing the plist file is Mac troubleshooting 101.

  • How do i work on one project and bounce between two computers

I have one project that I would like to work between my mac book pro and my mac pro and i cannot seem to find an answer to this question

What Tom said…and just to add: if you have any custom effects, pay attention to "Note" in the first section of this kb doc. (Speaking from experience, you can avoid a lot of stress by remembering to do that – especially if you're working on a job on someone else's system.)

  • How do I work on my raw files and not the jpeg files that currently dispaly

When I launch Aperture my pictures display in jpeg format, I do however take all my pictures in both raw and jpeg. How do I convert and work on the raw files? Is my interpretation that I am working on my Jpeg files correct?
My thanks for any help provided.

The preference to import both and use RAW vs. JPEG as master can be set on import and you can convert on a project-by-project basis.
You can tell what Aperture is using a few different ways. If you select the meta-data tab then show the "File Info" (the pull-down menu) it'll show you exactly which file it's using as the master.
Also if you right-click over the mouse you'll see one of the pop-up menu options to "Set JPEG as Master" or "Set RAW as Master" (it'll show whichever one you aren't using -- so if it offers to "Set RAW..." then that means it's currently using JPEG.
To convert a whole project, it's as gocuk says in the reply above.... select the "Library" tab at left, make sure you highlight the Project you want to convert, then in the menubar pick "Photos" -> "Switch Project to use RAW as Masters" (which will only be bold and selectable if it's currently set to use JPEG).

  • How to synchronize Premiere Pro on two computers so that work can continue on a single project?

I know that pro editors store their settings in the cloud so that they can work in another city on a moment's notice.  I am now working primarily on a desktop machine.  However, I have to go away for a week and want to continue work on a project while I am gone, using my laptop.  The media is all stored on an external drive, which I can also take with me.  I just need to figure out how to sync my settings and projects between the desktop and laptop computers.
I am using PR 2013 for MAC (I also have PR 2014, but my current project resides in PR 2013).
    Thanks in advance.

    Craig:
In the future you might look into an external FW hard drive from which you can operate the library.  Then, if you need to move it to another machine just unplug the drive and and plug it in to the other Mac.  For the MacBook Air you'd probably want a small (physical size) buss powered drive that would be an easy travel mate.
For future projects, particularly books, consider creating a separate library for it.  You can assemble the photos you want in it in an album in your primary library and use iPhoto Library Manager to copy that album to the project library.  They are often small enough that then can be copied to a flash drive for transfer to other Macs.

  • Numbers 3.2 has changed too much, it doesn't work with my project anymore. How do I revert back to the previous version I was using?

Numbers 3.2 has changed too much, it doesn't work with my project anymore. 1) The sheet panels used to be on the left hand side and easily reviewable and searchable, but now they are on the top and it's harder to find a specific folder without scrolling (too time consuming), 2) I used to be able to duplicate a folder within my sheet panel window by simply clicking on a folder and hitting Command D, but that doesn't work now so it looks like I'll have to spend even more time to recreate the same tables that used to be easily duplicated, and 3) I can't choose fill colors that matched my project anymore because there are only limited choices available now. And these are only the changes that I'm aware of. I am very disappointed and frustrated. Whatever the motivation was to limit Numbers 3.2, I want the previous version back. How do I revert back to the previous version I was using?

The sheet panels used to be on the left hand side and easily reviewable and searchable, but now they are on the top and it's harder to find a specific folder without scrolling (too time consuming),
You can scroll more quickly between sheets if you don't use the left-right triangles, but instead move the cursor up into the bands with the "tabs" and drag right or left.
Also, if you have a lot if sheets for which you want a quick vertical list, then you can try the following have something like this pop up (showing your sheet names automatically) whenever you hit a keyboard shortcut (in my case shift-command-j):
This is done via a Jump to Sheet Automator Service (Dropbox download).  To install just doubleclick the .workflow package and (if needed) click 'Download Anyway' in System Preferences > Privacy & Security.
This will cause a new item to appear in your Numbers > Services menu.  Then, if you want a keyboard shortcut, go here in System Preferences and add one:
You can rename or remove the service by holding down the option key in Finder and choosing Go > Library > Services. You can also view the AppleScript contaned within the service by opening the .workflow package in Automator.
This particular service jumps to the first cell of the first table of the sheet you choose from an automatically generated list of all sheets in the current document.

  • How to start working with a Development Component

    Hi Guys,
Till now I was working with the local development of WD. I was the only one working so I created a local project and use to deploy to the J2EE Engine.
Now we have got the full NWDI (Netweaver Dev Infrastructure).
I want to know exactly how to start working and creating Projects now that the work is not local. I may need to use 1 DC inside another.
A Development Component is to be created in the CMS and Checked into DTR. From the DTR I check in into my workspace. This is all i know
Can someone tell me exact steps of how to start the work.
    Thanks for your support

    Hello,
I believe you have already setup NWDI correctly and its running fine.

  • Scenario for continuous work flow

    Hi expert,
please tell me how to use 'continuous work flow'? ie. in what scenario this 'continuous work flow' will be used.

As per the whats new guide, page 12 -
Continuous execution type workflow and Single execution type workflow Data Services now supports two new workflow execution types, continuous and single. The continuous execution type flow runs all its child data flows in a loop but keeps them in the memory for the next iteration. This avoids the need to run some of the common steps of execution such as connect to repository, parse/optimize/compile ATL, and open database connections. This will improve the speed of repeated data flow execution.

  • Toggle button does not work correctly in project preview

    Hello,
I am working on a project and recently discovered the "toggle button" advanced action that lilibiri posted (Love the toggle button!!). Initially i had used the rollover funktion but found out via html5 tracker, that rollover is not supported by html5 and tablets. To the problem: When I test the slides individually everything works fine. As soon I preview my project and click on my smartshape buttons that toggle the image/text, the project jumps back to previous slides. Now, i probably do not understand the conditional action in terms of what it is actually telling CP to do. So i am guessing it is a user problem. I would be super greatful to anyone who can help me solve this, since i am bound to a dead line to finish this. THANKS!!
    -N
Here are some screenshots of the conditional actions (its in german..."Ausdruck" is Expression, "Einblenden" is Show, "Ausblenden" is Hide

    Hello,
You are mixing up Frames with Slides. Try:
    Expression  cpCmndGotoFrame = cpInfoCurrentFrame -1

  • How to send work item?

Can any one please tell me how to send work item ? will it be through the use of user decision or through the activity task? moreover where to provide the description and the subject of the work item?

What do you mean by "send the work item"?
If you mean "send information to a user that there is a work item waiting to be executed", read the FAQ and/or search this forum for RSWUWFML2.
If you mean "send the work item to the correct recipient", your best choice is to learn how to use rules and set possible agents. Read the FAQ and/or search the forum or SAP documentation at <a href="help.sap.com">help.sap.com</a>.
If you mean something else, then please try again to explain what you are trying to do.

  • HT5463 In my opinion, when the Silence setting is "only when the device is locked", it contradicts the settings you set above, like Manual. Can someone explain how these settings work together?

Can someone explain how these settings work together? Manual seams to contraduct the SILENCE setting at the bottom of the Do Not Disturb page. It's very confusing.

You should have seen information in the support document that you linked from. It used to be with the first version of Do Not Disturb that it would only function when the device was locked. That changed with iOS 7, and not it can be active all of the time. With it on Manual, it is on, but if you have the device "awake" that you can still receive calls/texts, etc. Sort of like you have the phone awake, so it isn't a problem for you to receive things. If you set the settings for Always, this means you can be doing things on the phone and not be disturbed by anything else. Does that make sense?

  • Confused about how Yahoo mail works on iTouch

A few questions before i buy an iTouch:
    1. My Yahoo mail will only be updated when I am in wifi range, right?
    2. if the network is password protected, do I have to open safari to log in first? Or how does that work?
I know with an iPhone, the mail is always updated as long as you are in cell phone coverage, but not sure how this works with wifi.
    thanks-

    Hi Mari Dawley
    1. Yes it will only update when connected to wifi.
    2. To connect to a local network (protected or not) you go to preferences and select wifi, you can then turn the wifi on/off and select which network you would like to connect to. If the network is password protected it will ask you to input the password when you select it.
    Hope this helps
