How to convert an ipod with Windows software installed to Mac operation

I have a 20MB ipod which has windows software on it. It is very hard to load songs onto as I can only see the ICON on the desktop and not in itunes and this way they don't seem to properly mount! I have a 12" ibook that I connect it to. I can't seem to follow how one is supposed to wipe the Windows OS (or whatever) off the ipod and install the Mac one ?!?!? Am I trying to do the impossible? A step-by-step answer would be soooooo appreciated.
12" ibook   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

Information on the iPod not appearing in iTunes is available in this article. To reformat the iPod for Mac, open a new Finder window and click the Applications icon in the sidebar; from here, open Utilities and then iPod Software Updater. Locate the most recent version of the iPod updater inside, open it, and click the Restore button with the iPod connected. Doing this will change the iPod into the Mac format and erase everything currently on it.

  • HT1353 How to use older iPod with Windows 7 & latest iTunes?

I have ipod classic 5th generation 30g that still has a lot of my music on it.  My computer with iTunes version that synched with it crashed.  New VAIO Windows 7 laptop can't recognize the hardware.  Where can I get a driver for the VAIO Windows 7?  Can I use my iPod with the latest iTunes?  Will I ever be able to load new music to this older iPod?

I fixed this by un-installing iTunes.  Next installed latest version for 64bit Windows 7.  Opened iTunes and connected my iPod to my laptop using the USB cable.  The driver was automatically updated and iTunes was able to recognize the older iPod and copied all my purchased music to iTunes on my new VAIO.
    Yeaaa!

  • Dilemma with Windows software on a Mac

Here is my situation...I am a part-time student taking an online class this summer. The class I am taking requires the use of a CD, but is not Mac compatible. I have heard something about a program that can be installed on Mac for this sort of thing. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

My brother has mentioned to me about the Virtual PC
program, which I may end up investing in. My only
concern is, what if it doesn't work. I need something
that will actually let me "install" this CD-ROM
program onto the computer in order for me to be able
to use it. Would that be possible with either of the
    programs you mentioned?
    Yes.
Though I would check the system requirements of Virtual PC.
To use Microsoft Virtual PC for Mac Version 7, users need the following:
    System Requirements
    Hardware: A 700 MHz native* PowerPC G3, G4 or G5 processor
Operating system: Mac OS X Version 10.2.8; Mac OS X Version 10.3; Mac OS X Version 10.4.1 or later.
Free Hard Disk Space: 3 GB
    RAM: 512 MB
Display: 1024 x 768 resolution monitor displaying thousands of colors
Storage: CD-ROM drive (or connection to a local area network if installing a network)
Peripherals: Mouse or compatible pointing device
You will need 512MB of RAM minimum.
Does the CD-ROM have video or similar, as this is liable not work on an iBook running VIrtual PC as Virtual PC is too slow.

  • How to clean then sell with extra software installed?

I am trying to wipe clean my MacBook Pro, 2012. I have a couple of issues.
    1) I bought it when Mountain Lion first came out. They gave it to me free upon purchase since they just hadn't upgraded yet. Is there going to be a problem wiping and reinstalling it at all, since technically I downloaded it with a coupon of some kind? I don't need to keep the license I would give it away with the computer.
    2) I wanted to sell it with MS Office and Adobe pre installed. Is that possible?
    Thanks!

Yes there is a problem. you will have to Reinstall Lion on that system. Even though Mt Lion was a Free Upgrade to you is was Still an Upgrade to the original OS X version that came on it and is Tied to YOUR Apple ID.
So Legally you can not transfer it to a new owner. And if you do they would not be able to Reinstall it without knowing your Apple ID.
To Revert the system back to Lion you must boot the computer from the Online Internet Recovry system, IE Boot the computer from over the internet from the Apple servers. To so that you hold down the Command+Option/Alt+r keys at startup and hold them down until you see a spinning globe in the center of the screen. It is best to have the system Wired to your internet router unless your Mac is WiFi only with no Ethernet port.
Once that system loads you Must Use Disk Utility to Re-Partition the drive as One partition so the Mt Lion recovery HD partition is removed.
Then once that is done exit DU and select Reinstall Mac OS X and Lion will be downloaded and install on the system.
The only caveat to all of this is the normally included iLife Apps are not a part of the OS. They are separate. So the new owner will need to Register that Mac with Apple under their name and Apple ID and then they will be able to download and install the iLfe Apps from the Mac App Store.
Once the OS has installed and the computer reboots to the setup screens just hold down the power button until the system turn off. Then when the new owner turns it on for the first time it will go through all the original setups of location and username and the like just like it was for you when you first took it out of the box.

  • Using an iPod with Windows Me

As far as I know, you can't use iTunes with Windows Me. I knew that when I bought my iPod, but I figured surely I'd be able to use it without iTunes--with a different program, maybe, like Winamp. Apparently not: my computer wouldn't recognize the iPod as anything but a removable drive, which was fine, except I couldn't play anything on it that way. Tried the installation software that came with the iPod and was told it wouldn't work on anything but a Windows 2000 or XP either.
So then I thought, hey, I've got a semi-functioning Mac OS X at work; I'll just use that to put everything on my iPod, even if I can't use iTunes at home. Great, except it doesn't have the right version of iTunes, won't go online to upgrade, and demands a password to install from the CD. Again using it as an external hard drive, I stick something on it anyway and try to bring it home, whereupon my Windows Me tells me that the iPod needs to be formatted.
This is all making me crazy, because I paid good money for that iPod and I'd really love to, you know, use it. Is there any possible way I can use this iPod with Windows Me, with or without iTunes? Some kind of plug-in I can download, maybe?
      Windows ME

    groans
I finally figured I had nothing to lose--I'd just downloaded a new version of Real Player, which supposedly will work with iPods and Windows Me--and I let my computer format the iPod, hoping that would let it work with Windows again. Apparently not. Now it won't turn on--it's giving me the folder-and-exclamation-point icon. Resetting it didn't help, and I can't restore it because I can't install the software to my computer in the first place.
I suppose the only thing to do is borrow a friend's computer or something.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

Try here you'll need to download the software but it will be the latest version, should be better than that on the original cd.

Isn't Outlook simply an email client or a software application on a computer? You can add an email account - whatever email provider that you use - right on the iPad. You can sync your Outlook contacts and calendar if that is what you are asking about, but Outlook itself has nothing to do with the iPad.

  • How do I share files from Windows Vista to a Mac with Lion OSX?

How do I share files from Windows Vista to a Mac with Lion OSX?  I'm having SO much trouble with this!  Any help would be appreciated!!!

In a finder window, under 'shared' you should be able to see the windows computer name, click on it and connect to it. I am assuming here you have sharing turned on and permissions granted on the windows computer.
Will add a note though, I have frequently accessed files from a PC on the LAN using XP, not vista.

    Hi kimcinma!
Your previous purchases are saved on iCloud even if you bought them on another computer. If you can't find them on your current computer, you might need to unhide them. Go to iTunes preferences, and click on Store Preferences. Then click the box for "show iTunes in the Cloud purchases". Then click on OK, and everything you've ever bought from iTunes on that Apple ID will show up in your library. You will need to download them from iCloud first before you can synch them to your iPod Classic. To do this, click on the little cloud with the arrow in it next to your song, and it will download to your computer. When you have the music that you want downloaded, plug in your iPod and synch away. Hope this helps!

You cannot open it on Windows Vista. The only application in the world that opens a Pages document is Pages, and it is Mac OS X only.
    Your options:
    1. Find a Mac with Pages installed, and save the document as doc or pdf, which you can open on Vista.
    or, if that is impossible,
    2. Open the files in a texteditor like Notepad.exe on Windows and try to piece text fragments together to get at least part of your original text back. The images should also be available somewhere, even though all formatting is gone.

Turn on home sharing in iTunes and stream (same network and apple id).  If you want to mirror your pc you need a programme like reflectorapp or airparrot (www.airparrot.com) to do it, a third party app.
